P0340 Fault in 1994 Ford Mustang: Is It Safe to Drive?

The check engine light has activated on my 1994 Ford Mustang, and the OBD-II diagnostic code retrieved is P0340. The vehicle runs normally under normal conditions, but I'm concerned because I initially thought this fault code only applies to vehicles manufactured from 1996 onward. Is it safe to continue driving? What should I do next to address this issue?
