P0038 Fault After O2 Sensor Replacement on 2008 Jeep Patriot 2.4L - OEM Sensors Installed
My 2008 Jeep Patriot with a 2.4L engine was initially showing a P0420 code, which I addressed by replacing the catalytic converter eight months ago. I then replaced both B1 S1 and B1 S2 oxygen sensors with OEM units due to their low cost—only $25 each. After the first drive cycle, the check engine light turned off for approximately four hours before returning after about 50 additional miles. The vehicle is now displaying a confirmed and pending P003
Am I reading this correctly — was there no P0038 code prior to replacing the oxygen sensors? Did you wire the O2 sensor connector during installation? Do you still have the original (old) sensors? Let me know. SWAG: The sensors may be non-functional or faulty (NFG).
