P0129 Diagnostic and Solution for 2006 Jeep TJ with Supercharger Installation

Model: 06 Jeep TJ Fault Code: P0129 Posted: 2010-02-17 08:58

I'm experiencing a persistent P0129 fault code on my 2006 Jeep TJ after installing a supercharger. The code appears only when starting the vehicle, and I've cleared it successfully—everything operates normally until the next startup. Several sources suggest this could be related to the Mass Airflow (MAP) sensor. Can anyone provide guidance on how to properly diagnose or test the MAP sensor? Specifically, is there a difference between vacuum-type and positive-pressure-compatible sensors for supercharged applications? Thanks for any advice.

For your setup, you'll need a MAP sensor designed to read positive pressure. A factory replacement sensor will work correctly only if it's specifically rated for positive pressure environments. Standard vacuum-type sensors are not suitable and may trigger P0129 or other related codes under supercharged conditions.
