2006 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3L: P0404, P0440, P0441, P0446, P0100, P0400, P0048 - Multiple OBD2 Codes & Electrical Symptoms

Model: 06 Grand Caravan 3.3L Fault Code: P0048 Posted: 2014-03-28 21:52

I'm looking for help with my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3L (180,000 km). The check engine light came on unexpectedly while driving to church. After scanning the vehicle, I received several OBD2 fault codes: P0440, P0480, P0404, P0441, P0446, P0100, P0400, and P0048. I initially replaced the radiator fan fuse (which triggered a P0480), and after that, the code disappeared. However, new codes appeared: P0440, P0404, P0441, P0446, P0100, and P0400. I'm experiencing several symptoms: - The radio turns on and off randomly (only works for about 5 minutes every 2 weeks) - The rear wiper operates only halfway before requiring manual reset - When driving uphill, I notice a significant loss of power - Fuel consumption seems to increase noticeably during short trips I suspect an EGR-related issue but want to confirm if this is likely or if there's another common cause. Additionally, the airbag warning light comes on occasionally (1–5 minutes) and stays lit. I've cleaned battery terminals and replaced BCM #1 fuse with no improvement. I'm hoping this is a single, relatively simple and inexpensive fix—like an EGR valve issue—or at least want to understand what these codes might indicate. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I'll investigate common root causes for multiple OBD2 codes appearing simultaneously, especially after a normal drive session—no prior issues or changes were noted.

Could you confirm the exact year and engine configuration? This is a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan with a 3.3L engine? The combination of codes seems unusual for that model—could indicate a misdiagnosis or sensor issue.

Yes, it's a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3L with 180,000 km. The vehicle hesitates briefly when cold and loses power on hills—similar to EGR issues I've seen before. I had P0480 initially; replaced the radiator fan fuse (P0480 went away). BCM #1 fuse was burnt—I swapped it out but no improvement in radio or wiper function. The radio only works for about 3–5 minutes every two weeks, and the rear wiper stops halfway. Pressing the wiper button briefly turns on the radio for ~3 seconds. Airbag warning light comes on occasionally (1–5 minutes), which I'm not sure is related but thought worth mentioning. Thanks for your help—I really appreciate it.
