P0455 Fault Diagnosis and Repair for 2006 Ford Ranger - Evaporative Emission System

Model: 06 ford ranger Fault Code: P0455 Posted: 2008-09-22 16:29

I own a 2006 Ford Ranger and am consistently receiving the P045-5 diagnostic trouble code. I've already replaced the gas cap and the vapor canister valve, and I've thoroughly inspected all hoses and lines for damage. However, I'm unable to locate the vapor purge solenoid's connection point in the system. Has anyone else encountered this issue on a 2006 Ford Ranger? What steps should be taken to resolve the P0455 code when standard repairs don't seem to help?

P0455 - Engine Electronic Control (EEC) detects a gross leak in the evaporative emission system. At this stage, it's recommended to have a professional perform a smoke test on the EVAP system. Be sure to inform the technician of all previous repairs you've completed—such as replacing the gas cap and vapor canister valve. A hidden crack or hole, possibly in the fuel filler neck, may be the root cause that isn't visible during routine inspections.
