2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4.3L Engine P0016 and P0305 Fault Codes - Misfire and Shake Issues

Model: 05 Silverado 1500 4.3 Fault Code: P0016 Posted: 2014-12-12 21:45

Hello, My 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with a 4.3L V6 engine has approximately 96,000 miles. About two weeks ago, the Check Engine Light (CEL) came on. After scanning the vehicle, I found fault codes P0016 and later P0305. Initially, there was a slight vibration or misfire, but as the issue progressed, the shaking became significantly worse—especially during idle to acceleration transitions. However, once the truck reaches 30 mph or higher, the shaking disappears. The CEL remains on continuously or blinks intermittently. I'm seeking advice on how to diagnose and resolve this issue. Thank you in advance for your help! Best regards, Owner

P0305 indicates a misfire in cylinder #5. P0016 points to a mismatch between the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. First, address the misfire by inspecting ignition components (spark plugs, coil pack) and fuel delivery for cylinder #5. Clear the fault codes and perform a road test. If P0016 reappears, use a scan tool to manually synchronize the cam and crankshaft positions. This is essential for proper engine timing and stability.
