2005 Chevrolet Express 3500 Van: Fuel Efficiency Issues with DTC Codes P0741 and P0894

Model: 05 Chevy Express 3500 van Fault Code: P0741 Posted: 2012-09-06 16:26

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I've recently discovered two diagnostic trouble codes—P0741 and P089-than on my 2005 Chevrolet Express 3500 van. The vehicle is consuming significantly more fuel than normal, and during a routine tune-up, these codes were detected. Could someone please explain what these codes mean and how they might be related to the increased fuel consumption? Any technical insights or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.

To better understand the issue, it's important to confirm whether there are any P1xxx manufacturer-specific codes present. Both DTC P0741 and P0894 point to transmission-related problems: P0741 indicates a torque converter clutch (TCC) malfunction, while P0894 suggests a slipping transmission component—this often accompanies P1xxx codes that provide more detailed manufacturer-specific diagnostics.
