03 trailblazer p0300 code low on power runs rough

Model: 03 Trailblazer Fault Code: P0300 Posted: 2008-01-31 08:00

I have an 03 trail blazer with 150,000 miles that is running rough and low on power. It was running fine until my wife brought it home after filling with gas. I read the codes and initially had p0302 and p0300. after eraseing the codes and running further I checked the codes and only pulled a p0300 code. when unit is in park you can put the accelerator to the floor and it will stop climbing at 3,000 rpms. while driving it runs rough but if you push the accelerator to the floor it will down shift and turn much higher rpms. I have installed new plugs in the last several months. Ing coil PK ? EGR valve? timing Sensor ? Fuel injector? fuel filter? fuel Pump? other sensor? Were should I start the trouble shooting process is there a common failure with these units. Thanks

Check fuel pressure, check for restricted exhaust and complete the tune up. Installing a new fuel filter might not be a bad idea if you can't remember the last time you did it. Good luck and keep us posted.

converter restriction very common on those!

Did the wife by chance put e85 or ethanol fuel in the vehicle by chance?

I'd be checking your gas, maybe you got water in it or other contamination!

I'd check backpressure!

I have EXACTLY the same problem... I'm guessing though that no one knows what fixed this? I changed the plugs and fuel filter with no joy. I did find something odd maybe. I relieved the fuel pressure in order to change the filter by opening the gas tank, then removing the fuel pump relay and running the motor until it stalled. BUT; when I disconnected the filter intet line it was VERY pressurized and I got hosed down pretty good. Did I do it right? Any ideas on the 300 code?

If you have exactly the same problem, follow my first post...particularly restricted exhaust and fuel pressure. You should relieve fuel pressure at the Shrader Valve.
