2003 Toyota Prius OBDII Codes P0440, P0441, and P0446 - What Do They Mean?

Model: 03 PRIUS Fault Code: P2177 Posted: 2009-02-27 17:31

We own a 2003 Toyota Prius with 106,000 miles and the Check Engine Light is currently on. The OBDII scan reveals three EVAP system-related codes: P0440, P0441, and P0446. Are these separate issues or part of one underlying problem? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Haskins

First, if I were you, I'd check the gas cap for looseness and ensure it's securely tightened. A loose cap is a common cause of EVAP system faults in older Prius models.

We've already checked the gas cap — it's secure and properly sealed.

If the air filter was serviced recently look at the air box and make sure all the lines and connectors are plugged in. They tend to get left loose sometimes.
