P0120 Fault Code on 2002 Toyota Tacoma: TPS Wiring Issue Diagnosis

Model: 02 tacoma Fault Code: P0120 Posted: 2007-02-08 18:46

I've been researching the P0120 fault code for my 2002 Toyota Tacoma, and according to the service manual, the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) should have four wires: E2, VTA2, VTA, and VC. However, I only observe three wires connected to the TPS unit. The sensor is located on the firewall side of the throttle body. Can anyone confirm whether this discrepancy might indicate a wiring issue or if I'm possibly misidentifying the component? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Are you certain you're looking at the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and not the Idle Air Control (IAC) motor? It's possible there's a mix-up in component identification.

No, I'm not sure what it is. I'll need to pull out the component locator to verify the correct sensor location. I believe I had the right one initially, but the wiring count doesn't match the manual.
