2002 Honda Civic Si OBD II Code P0108: MAP/BARO Sensor High Input Explanation and Fixes

Model: 02 Civic Si Fault Code: P0108 Posted: 2007-11-14 22:30

I own a 2002 Honda Civic Si, and recently my check engine light came on. After connecting an OBD-II scanner, I received the diagnostic code P0108 — indicating a high input in the MAP/BARO sensor circuit. I'm not familiar with what this means or how it affects my car's performance. My vehicle has been running normally, and the only modification I've made is to the exhaust system. Given that, I'm wondering if this issue could be related to the exhaust or another component. Any insights or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

The P0108 code indicates a fault in the BARO/MAP sensor circuit, meaning either the sensor itself or its wiring and connections are detecting an abnormal high input.

Does this mean I should replace the MAP sensor, or should I first inspect the wiring harness and electrical connections?

Yes — start by checking the wiring, connectors, and circuit integrity before replacing the MAP sensor. You can also try cleaning the MAF sensor using Brake Kleen or an electronic cleaner as a preliminary step.
