Tesla is not the benchmark for at least two years.

flying_butt_fucker 2026-02-09 14:07

But Tesla iS nO LoNgER A caR CoMPaNY…

JuculianD 2026-02-09 14:11

That Chinese geely junk definitely isn't a benchmark either Badass under dimensioned McPherson axis as well as a numb steering - after a year you'll get the first software and electrical issues, or transmission issues as well if you drive the hybrid like I did

WhoisthisRDDT 2026-02-09 14:28

fElon realized Tesla isn't getting him any richer, as it is a real car company now, he moved on.

siliconviking 2026-02-09 14:40

Hopeless website... (at least in Safari / iOS)

damngoodengineer 2026-02-09 14:40

Tesla is not a benchmark anymore, but a Chinesium is? Well OK,

bindermichi 2026-02-09 15:27

Half of all Teslas produced annually are Chinese

UmichAgnos 2026-02-09 15:28

Selling stocks based on vaporware is so much more profitable.

cancel-out-combo 2026-02-09 15:40

Sure, but 285 miles of range on a 100kwh battery is quite bad.

ChickerWings 2026-02-09 15:53

If you say you built some data centers in rural Wisconsin, people will know if you dont deliver. In space though, you can tell people you just built 20 new data centers and normal people have no way to confirm if its true or not. The scams are going extraplanetary...

UmichAgnos 2026-02-09 16:04

You could put a bunch of space heaters in a building full of empty racks to dummy a data center. Probably cheaper than launching a damn rocket.

Bagafeet 2026-02-09 16:32

People aren't making it home from the dealership without the first Tesla electrical or transmission issue.

JuculianD 2026-02-09 16:35

Not Tesla but Geely. I myself had them break down. I stated Chinese junk and McPherson axis, Tesla is American engineered junk and at least has some proper suspension that miserably also was wonky in the beginning.

dwangbuis 2026-02-09 17:16

Heavy and inefficient indeed.

Jedski89 2026-02-09 17:23

Avoid saic motors too. Had an mg5 and had nothing but problems with it.

BringBackUsenet 2026-02-09 18:06

And you are obviously not an English major.

BringBackUsenet 2026-02-09 18:07

It's setting new records where fraud is concerned.

flying_butt_fucker 2026-02-09 18:19

Correct, I’m Dutch. What’s wrong with the grammar?

DonLikesIt 2026-02-09 18:30

Nothing

DameLasNalgas 2026-02-09 20:07

Looks decent but personally I'd still pick a model Y performance or Rivian R2 over this. I do hope it and many others eventually come to the US market so we have more choices.

Stu5000 2026-02-09 20:54

The Zeekr is designed & engineered in Sweden.

JuculianD 2026-02-09 20:55

As well as the lynk co and volvos both are rubbish. The design and interior is great, the in depth quality, dimensioning of the components like the shocks and ball joints and choose of material for the steering wheel, and most important the software which is hell Breaking down often and a parts crisis worse then Tesla so every small ditch or problem goes into a Desaster. This already starts to show in Europe where Volvo doesn't sell anymore, it's dead, and lynk co have been recalled and are basically dead as well. Gave mine back after 1,5 years discussion with non-support after the transmission, headlights etc hickuped so much it was left stranded at some point.

Gontha 2026-02-09 20:59

The possibility for me to buy the Zeekr 07GT once it releases in germany, is almost 100%.

JuculianD 2026-02-09 20:59

Heard of some people that bought this rubbish new and it got them stranded with HV faults, MG couldn't fix it, and after long lawyer journey they sent an empty non filled out buy-back contract.

xMagnis 2026-02-09 21:00

*Unlike Tesla and some competitors like Xpeng, Zeekr hasn’t adopted the same ultra-minimalistic approach that appeals to some but, to us, is usually an exercise in penny-pinching.* Good, let's hope the era of minimalist interiors, aka fool's gold luxury, is over.

Jedski89 2026-02-09 21:19

That's describing exactly my situation. They bought it back off us after months of HV issues with the final one leaving me stranded. 12 hours for recovery. No lawyers tho. They offered the buy back.

JuculianD 2026-02-09 21:24

My Uncle for example has a ford transit custom ecoblue diesel. An engine that is know for issues with it's timing belt. Nevertheless it has got around 140,000miles on it no problem. Steering wheel and floor looks still 8/10. And then there are those Maxxus deliver9, also saic. After 20,000miles the steering wheel is in the same condition, and the floor covering is completely damaged through the inner layers. A transit likely has 400,000 miles for this damage to appear... Fucking hell, and I thought old ancient Kia's had a bad plastic quality. As well as with BYD etc, you can see the quality in the rubber parts. VW etc. is mediocre, a CV boot holds 60-80k miles. A Toyota/Mazda is superior, they last double. And the byd, he'll there is squeaking of the CV joints after like 30,000miles... Get a Chinese car if you want to always repair it haha, if you can repair it...

Jedski89 2026-02-09 21:26

That's the problem. They sell in such high numbers that there isn't spare parts. They are all tied up in cars leaving the production line.

JuculianD 2026-02-09 21:28

And they start producing before they got any confidence of their under engineered, partly copied and partly way under-dimensioned untested rubbish

Jedski89 2026-02-09 21:32

It's the foot in the door technique. Sell these cars at bargain basement prices and deal with the problems later in hopes that you become an established brand.

Stu5000 2026-02-09 23:27

Point is, Zeeker is only manufactured in China. Arguing over which country is better at designing things or which overall design wins isn't my point. It's as much "Chinese junk" as Tesla cars and Apple iPhones.

tm1244 2026-02-09 23:35

same aber in Österreich, aber bis jz können wir den nichtmal vorbestellen bzw ist Zeekr noch nicht bei uns :(

oregon_coastal 2026-02-10 01:29

I have a 1972 Dodge that demonstrates that Tesla hasn't ever really been the benchmark.

Lopsided_Quarter_931 2026-02-10 04:27

Got 500km out of my 7X AWD the last trip and recharged in 15 minutes. Works for me. If you are range obsessed the Long Range is probably the better choice.

Gontha 2026-02-10 06:11

neonmantis 2026-02-10 16:45

Sure but if he had just allowed Tesla to be somewhat competent and not out himself as a fascist prick the company could have been the perfect cash cow for his other nonsense but he's fucked it. The extent of brand destruction will be studied in marketing classes.

neonmantis 2026-02-10 16:46

> Good, let's hope the era of minimalist interiors, aka fool's gold luxury, is over. It's welcome in budget cars the issue was it being sold as premium

Automatic_Soil9814 2026-02-11 03:34

Is it just me or is everyone using the term “benchmark” wrong? Benchmark means the standard against which everything is compared. It doesn’t mean state of the art. It doesn’t mean best in class. It’s just something everyone is familiar with. From that perspective, when it comes to electric vehicles,Tesla is still the benchmark. It’s almost impossible to imagine a review of an electric car that doesn’t have a comparison to a Tesla. This review of the Zeekr compares it to a Tesla, making the Tesla the benchmark even in this article. Tesla has lost its lead in technology, quality, brand identity, and every other metric you could imagine but it is still very much the benchmark that cars are compared to, even when those cars surpass the benchmark.

In china the 2026 model gets more power (790bhp), higher top speed (255kmh), better ADAS, 900V architecture, 7 min charging, and for the same price as this discontinued model...

dontletthestankout 2026-02-11 06:44

You've never driven electric and it shows.
