Tesla: Gigafabrik in Grünheide verliert rund 1700 Arbeitsplätze

PresidentSpanky | 2026-01-21 12:03 | 106 views

Despite promises to the contrary, US vehicle manufacturer Tesla has apparently cut a significant number of jobs at its German gigafactory. According to research by Handelsblatt, 10,703 people currently work at the plant. At the works council elections two years ago, the figure was 12,415. The figures come from the election committee of the Tesla works council. Its chairman, René Seyfert, wrote a few days ago in an invitation to the works council elections in early March: “Our company employs 1,683 women, 9,006 men, and 14 non-binary persons.” According to the invitation to the 2024 works council elections, 1,788 women, 10,616 men, and 11 non-binary people were working in Grünheide at that time, which corresponds to a decline of 13.8 percent. A request from Handelsblatt for an explanation went unanswered by plant manager Thierig. The cuts apparently even exceed the job cuts announced by CEO Elon Musk in April 2024. *Translated with* [*DeepL.com*](https://www.deepl.com/?utm_campaign=product&utm_source=web_translator&utm_medium=web&utm_content=copy_free_translation) *(free version)*

And this has nothing to do with Tesla’s CEO and everything with the workers… /s for those in the back.

oh no anyway.gif

Even Norway could not save the decline in sales, only Elon can do it by either giving up ceo of Tesla or at least stop supporting right wing parties and spreading conspiracy theories and leave politics all together.

flying_butt_fucker 2026-01-21 12:51

He’s too far gone to be saved. Most in the cult are too far gone.

Robo-X 2026-01-21 12:52

That’s a shame…

Huge sickday rates at Grünheide  https://www.rf-news.de/2026/kw01/tesla-legt-gegen-die-ig-metall-nach

Lopsided_Quarter_931 2026-01-21 13:14

Apprently there was some tax incentive in Norway favoring cars that could be delivered immediately. Let’s see next quarter.

Robo-X 2026-01-21 13:16

Those tax incentives ended in December. This will probably not be a good month for Tesla in any European country.

The sales are in decline because Tesla make shit cars. Musk is just a side issue.

TeaOk3373 2026-01-21 14:47

These are the sales numbers from Norway in January; [https://eu-evs.com/brands/TESLA/NO/Models-Daily](https://eu-evs.com/brands/TESLA/NO/Models-Daily) No, Norway won´t save them.

TeaOk3373 2026-01-21 14:48

[https://eu-evs.com/brands/TESLA/NO/Models-Daily](https://eu-evs.com/brands/TESLA/NO/Models-Daily) They´ve sold ten cars in january in norway. They sold 800 last year in january.

Preemptive: I'm not getting a Tesla nor have one. Whether a car is good is a matter of **opinion**. This is because a car is a complex thing with many features. Whether one or the other is deemed better depends on what feature you value and how much. For example: I only value boot space. MY has the most of it in the class. MY is therefore the best car. Of course, it's about more than one criteria and then, the weight of a criteria comes into play. Then, personal preferences like the design matter, too. See...? Opinion. And opinions are like arseholes. Sooo... Don't do that...

wootnootlol 2026-01-21 16:52

I'm surprised that they have 10k people working there. I'd assume that at the current pace they have about 4k people actually building cars, and rest 6k people just walk around, sweep the floors and turn the lights on and off?

Robo-X 2026-01-21 18:11

Those numbers looks brutal!

BlvdDweller 2026-01-21 18:36

it's all or nothing for them now

mrbuttsavage 2026-01-21 22:14

This legitimately. For how many cars they sell in Europe, what do they need 10k people for? Someone should investigate that waste fraud and abuse.

That-Whereas3367 2026-01-22 01:46

Tesla are **objectively** the least reliable cars on the market. if Americans had access Chinese EV they would know Tesla are absolute shit in comparison.

FrogmanKouki 2026-01-22 02:35

No one knows more about manufacturing than Musk. Only he can employ 10k people to make 10k cars a month.

goranlepuz 2026-01-22 04:58

My point is, it absolutely does not matter what is "objectively" true. Here: I do not care about reliability, therefore Tesla is better than any Chinese competitor. Get it...? (Probably not.) By the way, and, again, I have no intention to defend Tesla, but only to counter the stupidity emanating from what you wrote... If Tesla is "absolute shit", how come they sold 600 000+ cars **in China**? Answer: either you are wrong and stupid to claim they are "absolute shit", either 600 000 Chinese are utter morons who buy absolute shit. I say, it's the former.

lazylittleboy 2026-01-22 07:09

I guess that's what happens when you "throw your heart out"...two times even.

Low-Possibility-7060 2026-01-22 17:06

The model y doesn’t have the most boot space - the reason for those absurd numbers at Tesla is just the fact that they measure how many liquid Liters fit in there, whereas the rest of the industry uses standardised foam blocks to measure how much real luggage fits in the boot.

Low-Possibility-7060 2026-01-22 17:07

Ten is not a lot

Low-Possibility-7060 2026-01-22 17:08

At this rate they might even work from home

flying_butt_fucker 2026-01-22 20:59

But of course, why not lie?

Low-Possibility-7060 2026-01-22 21:01

Maybe if you are really into aquariums and want to keep fish in your boot, the Tesla is the car for you - but we don’t know how many litres other cars can take.

Unlimited demand, people! A new gigafactory is opening every year!
