As everywhere in the World, EVs in Germany are heavily politicised. For a lot of left leaning People - especially green Voters - EVs are the Holy grail aof the fight against climate Change. These EV Owners feel morally superior to „Diesel-Dieter“ (that’s how they call People still driving ICE-Cars). In online discussions they will deny any problem that you could have with an EV. On the other side, there are the Conservatives, which are obviously way worse, because they deny man made Climate Change completely and come up with anything to discredit EVs. There are not a lot of people that choose their Car on a rational basis alone. There is almost no middle ground. Still the EV-Market is growing, mostly because moste Company Cars are now EVs thanks to a reduced Tax compared to ICE Cars which makes them cheaper for the Companies and the Employees than ICE-Cars. So of course most private EV buyers will be disgusted about Musks Hitler Salute and not buy them anymore. And a lot of Companies do not want to be associated with Musks Image also. But Conservatives or Fascists do not buy EVs as in every other Country as well. So sales are crashing fortunately.

Get it down to zero percent Germans. Musque has Tainted the brand as a White Power Status symbol..

I have said already, and I will say it again, Tesla is finished in Europe, sales will continue to decline. The Nazism of Musk is only part of the issue, the fact that the legacy car manufacturers, make far better options, plus the influx of Chinese EVs will finish Tesla. The German factory will initially go to reduced capacity and then eventually be mothballed or even closed.

The majority of new cars are registered on companies, as for many people the car is part of the salary, even if they only use it to commute or privately. Due to the politicisation, many companies exclude Tesla from the list of manufacturers the people can select their company car from. In the past, Tesla also was not the most reliable one in terms of conditions for the employers. VW & co. have long standing good relationships with fleet operators, which made it easier for all sides.

I got a ride in an Audi Q6 this week, its clear competitors have caught up. Charges hella fast with the 800V architecture too. Very expensive car though. The politicising is coming like 70-80% from the right, the fossil fuel lobby and parties and politicians being paid by them or by Russia, hello AfD. There is ZERO credible argument against EVs regarding climate change or how it's just a better technology. 70% less emissions in their lifetime. And even the higher CO² emissions in the production is offset after 50,000 km, which is like 3-4 years. Average lifetime of a car is 20+ years. They are also less expensive maintaining. The only real problem of EVs is the range (when it's cold). But with cars coming out with more and more range AND faster charging it's not such a big problem anymore. In 3 years we will have solid state batteries. Then even this argument against EVs is gone. Also the range only dips for 10% or something after a few years but then is still surprisingly stable. A lot of the politicising is done by afd, Russia and a lot of internet bots (probably also Russia and big oil bots) Even the car crashes are less dangerous with EVs. It's often sensationalized by media but at the same time they ignote that yes gasoline fuled cars burn too. Statistically EVs burn less in car Crashes. But if they burn they burn quick and you need special equipment to extinguish the flames as firefighters. But yeah I agree with the rest of the voters buying or not buying EVs. Also EV Sales are up quite a bit in the EU. Like 25% of new cars are EVs. Which is huge. But 20% in Germany.

In Teslas case it has become a pariah among its potential customers due to Musks behavior, the people Musk appeases with his behavior definitely won´t buy an EV until they do not have any other option anymore left!

Problem is Teslas are not even the best cars in their price range, the quality is not there, aside from Musks absolutely disgusting behavior which killed the brand in its core customer base! There is simply not a single reason to buy a Tesla!

Yeah, spoke up in a pro Musk/Tesla sub and was banned from subs that I had never even commented on! The Chinese EV invasion of Europe (sounds dramatic but it really is an invasion) particularly the UK, is intensifying, that's before BYD open their Hungarian and Turkish factories. The influx of Chinese EVSs will hit all manufacturers, but it may be the nail in the coffin for Tesla in Europe.

Well as far as I can see, Musk uses Tesla to funnel in the overpriced stock money into his private account the entire stock is a dump and pump scheme atm into his private bank account. To be fair, saying we will have solid state batteries and therefore some arguments are invalid is counter factual. SS doesn’t yet exist in a viable way. History is littered with a million things that were right around the corner and never materialized, or materialized so slowly that some other technology leap frogged it. I don’t get political on it, but I don’t have an EV and have no interest in it in current form. It isn’t the range. It isn’t the climate. It isn’t any of the things that people use to justify EVs. It’s just that I hate the inconvenience of search for a charger. Especially a fast one, in working order, without a line in front of me. That’s insane. I owned a diesel at one point and never again, having limited options to fill is annoying AF. I just want to pull into the closest place with zero planning in advance. The existence of charger locators simply proves the point that the infrastructure is lacking. I get the best way to do it is at home, and I certainly would do that. But that still only works if it is a second or third vehicle for me. I’m not gonna deal with that crap on a road trip or even a long drive to see my family. It’s just an annoyance I don’t need in my life. Yes, perhaps one day SS will be viable and maybe every gas station will be an EV station, AND everyone will have SS and be able to move thru the line as fast as they do today with gas. Perhaps. And even though I’ll be 90 when it happens, I welcome it. But it doesn’t fit my lifestyle. And I think that is true for a great many people. And those people aren’t on either end of the political extremes- they are just rational and product-driven people. And the product doesn’t meet the needs of a huge swath of people today. I also understand people are willing to deal with the inconvenience in order to be climate friendly, but reality is that there are a hundred ways to make a difference in climate and cars are just the poster child. You can very easily own a low emissions gas vehicle and put your investments or other choices to work on climate.
