He’s not ignorant of it, he’s just lying. That used to be called “fraud”.

Street_Barracuda1657 2026-01-08 04:36

Who’s still buying these things?

LowIllustrator2501 2026-01-08 04:40

Are people still surprised that Musk lies constantly?

LynchSyndromedotmil 2026-01-08 04:43

Bro are even thinking of the future? Bro, TESLA was never a car company, it’s a robotics company. Bro, TESLA was never a robotics company, it’s an AI company. Bro, TESLA was never an AI company, it’s an nanite company. Bro, TESLA was never a nanite company, it’s a nuclear fusion propulsion company. Bro, TESLA was never a nuclear propulsion company, it’s a teleportation company. Bro, TESLA was never a teleportation company, its a Dyson Sphere company. Bro, don’t you have the Dyson Sphere priced in?

mathscasual 2026-01-08 04:44

failing up, fraud , blah blah. Tesla is winning and you being anti-aligned are losing. Let it f’n go.

totpot 2026-01-08 04:49

We are thiiiis close to an executive order declaring the Cybertruck to be the only car that the government may buy.

ExcitingMeet2443 2026-01-08 04:52

Selling so many 2019 model cars with updated software is GENIUS I tell you...

WildFlowLing 2026-01-08 04:57

Elon has never been punished for his idiotic mistakes. This has fed into his god complex. If you shit your pants and then someone handed you a billion dollars you might think you’re a genius too.

Admirable_Welcome_34 2026-01-08 05:01

Lazy people that can't drive, it's the only reason to buy a Tesla.

Kind_Dream_610 2026-01-08 05:05

The shorter version of this is: Bro, Tesla was never a real company, just a way for me to scam people and get rich

docmarvy 2026-01-08 05:07

You can stop at the first five words in the headline.

Moist_Researcher5413 2026-01-08 05:09

Im gonna take a wild guess you have acheived more than Elon Musk…and are smarter than him 👍

flying_butt_fucker 2026-01-08 05:11

It's also the M.O. of literally everyone in the Republican Party, down=up, black=white and popularity=rising. (Kremlin tactic)

k-mcm 2026-01-08 05:14

“\~2M cars/year and rising.” Maybe he includes the ones that don't work in his count.

I_Am_AI_Bot 2026-01-08 05:15

Agree. Charging customers and making them risk their lives to work for FSD as beta testers is even more genius.

codykonior 2026-01-08 05:17

Redacted.

morty-vicar 2026-01-08 05:19

People who want to barbecue themselves?

Real-Technician831 2026-01-08 05:19

Bro, Tesla is a slow diner company.

chookalana 2026-01-08 05:22

What?! Elon would never lie…..

[deleted] 2026-01-08 05:23

Fucking Norway. Actually

Low-Win-6691 2026-01-08 05:27

You typed it all for me. thanks

eurea 2026-01-08 05:28

Dyson Sphere? i have the Dyson hair dryer, its pretty good

PdxGuyinLX 2026-01-08 05:38

Every time Tesla’s car sales go down, the stock price goes up. Does that mean that as sales go to 0, the stock price will approach infinity?

mishap1 2026-01-08 05:38

Californians still bought close to 200k Teslas last year. Puts it at about the same per capita rate of Tesla purchases as Norway.

evil_timmy 2026-01-08 05:39

Not lazy, just jackin' it.

Disgod 2026-01-08 05:39

It's sadder than that. Tesla was a real company, the real founders were trying to actually build a real car company then they let Leon in... And he's treated it as his personal fiefdom / company to bust out ever since.

Kind_Dream_610 2026-01-08 05:49

Perhaps ‘my’ Tesla would have been better. Hopefully everyone knows it wasn’t really his company or idea to start with. I watched the original documentary on YouTube even before Musk was involved, it was really interesting.

AreYouFilmingNow 2026-01-08 06:01

In europe? Norwegians!

PowerFarta 2026-01-08 06:02

2025 was "return to growth" lmao

Loud-Break6327 2026-01-08 06:07

\*trillion dollars

ExcitingMeet2443 2026-01-08 06:18

Sure, but Norwegians bought about ZERO ICE vehicles... So a country on the Arctic circle has less ICE (of both types) than a place that's almost a desert.

Gus_Polinski_Polkas 2026-01-08 06:31

Space x

ianishomer 2026-01-08 06:36

Exaggeration is normal for anyone that spends time around the Liar In Chief.

karkonthemighty 2026-01-08 06:44

It's not like the falling sales are negatively effecting the stock price, no wonder it didn't factor into his thinking. I swear every Tesla factory could burn down overnight and the stock would leap 5% up on that news.

GhostofBreadDragons 2026-01-08 06:52

Norway bought them for the same reason Americans did. The government had a big tax deal on electric cars that was expiring. Watch how the next time you hear sales numbers from Norway, how big a retraction there is.

Jaguarmadillo 2026-01-08 06:52

This guy Teslas

totpot 2026-01-08 06:59

Space X.

M7BY 2026-01-08 07:14

Who still buys this garbage can of a car?

RagingDemonsNoDQ 2026-01-08 07:17

Copium is a hell of a drug. Among the rest he takes. Well, all of you took the good ones!

GiveMeSomeShu-gar 2026-01-08 07:49

No, that's why he pivoted to robots. Now he has years of runway to promise things again before having to deliver.

microtherion 2026-01-08 08:30

Or the ones stashed away in rented parking lots. Maybe they really ARE building 2M cars a year and only selling 1.6M of them.

torokunai 2026-01-08 08:47

good hit piece, but the author also missed that Elom stepped on his dysfunctional dick by having his Monterrey expansion plan counterfeited by getting his GOP buddies into power, so now we have all the tariff bullshit to deal with too. The 2023 "Investor Day" that had announcement was pretty weird shit. I was still 100% long on TSLA and the stock was well under $200 then . . . the Monterrey plan was more Elom bullshit in his role as Chief Con Officer.

WildFlowLing 2026-01-08 08:48

Actually yes I have a higher education level (in engineering… and Elon is not an engineer) and without a doubt I’ve accomplished more in engineering than him. What Elon is better at than me is relentless narcissism, unapologetic lying, deception, taking credit for others work, gaslighting employees, making sure he always gets paid for others work, amassing an unfathomably loyal cult following, unethical behavior such as buying the president etc Elon definitely has talents, just not in anything worthy of respect or admiration.

jailtheorange1 2026-01-08 09:06

Take my upboat

SpectrumWoes 2026-01-08 09:46

Operating costs just decreased 100%! Morgan Stanley now lists this as a STRONG BUY! 📈

hamishjoy 2026-01-08 10:21

Take my yacht too.

[deleted] 2026-01-08 11:11

He could run over dogs and people still support him.

EmbarrassedWonder476 2026-01-08 11:20

Down more than 60% in Sweden where I'm from. My colleagues and I are probably the former core audience, none of us will ever buy another Tesla.

Musicman1972 2026-01-08 11:51

Not for long. It was a bring-forward due to tax changes. Wait for the next quarter....

ButtFucker40k 2026-01-08 12:09

They can be a miserable lot. Personally I prefer the Finns.

SemanticallyPedantic 2026-01-08 13:38

A lot of people, unfortunately. I see plenty of late model Teslas driving around the Portland area.

Silly-Put7896 2026-01-08 13:40

Easy to criticize the richest man on the planet from the bottom of the mountain. Lol gfy looser

steveu33 2026-01-08 14:00

Plenty of stupid people are rich. You think having money exempts one from criticism? Sad.

Ordinary-Map-7306 2026-01-08 14:49

Tesla is not a car company.

tuctrohs 2026-01-08 14:50

Yeah, I really wonder who those people are. Die-hard supporters everything Musk stands for? Clueless people who have no idea that Tesla is anything but the premiere EV company?

Schoeddl 2026-01-08 14:50

Who's surprised? He HAS to be ignorant. The moment he's no longer ignorant, his house of cards collapses. So what?!

tuctrohs 2026-01-08 14:51

For drying the growth on your spherical skull.

tuctrohs 2026-01-08 14:51

This is sarcasm, right?

Arglefarb 2026-01-08 14:56

Don’t forget, he also had the genius foresight to be born into wealth, giving himself a leg up on the people who chose to be born economically disadvantaged

SinNedLock 2026-01-08 15:28

Depreciation on used tesla are crazy, it doesn't make any sense to buy new

Pancheel 2026-01-08 15:30

But they have to help burning more diesel and gaosline, so every Cybertruck will be equipped with an electric generator that runs on diesel (adding a ton of weight to burn more diesel).

AtomGalaxy 2026-01-08 15:56

We’re building people to serve the tools that serve and protect billionaires and mega-corporations—and that’s the dystopian version where Tesla’s valuation “makes sense.” Not because of teleportation or magic implants, but because security logic becomes the master value: sensor networks, autonomy, compute, factories, fleets, and data turn into choke points the corporate-state will always fund. In that world, “the product is the factory” really means “the product is capacity and control” … the ability to rapidly build and scale systems for surveillance, enforcement, and managed compliance. The real question isn’t whether Tesla is a car company or an AI company; it’s what kind of world this story requires, and who wins when we accept it.

AreYouFilmingNow 2026-01-08 15:57

Kippis to that.

razor_train 2026-01-08 16:07

It might be a legit number if you count the [happymeal-style paperboard box cars](https://www.restaurantbusinessonline.com/emerging-brands/teslas-new-retro-futuristic-diner-restaurant-charging-station-marketing-ploy) at the diner.

covalent_blond 2026-01-08 16:25

Sadly, I still see a ton of new Teslas around the SF Bay Area.

Mugwump6506 2026-01-08 16:53

But are investors fooled? So far yes.

ObservationalHumor 2026-01-08 17:17

He's not ignorant of it but he is in deep denial about it. At this point he literally doesn't want to have to worry about absolutely anything and he's on a cocktail of drugs to insure that's the case. That's what the ketamine is all about, it's so he doesn't have to deal with the fear and anxiety he should feel for fucking up and constantly lying all the time. When he was in whitehouse you could constantly see him on MDMA or ectasy to get higher highs during parties too. Of course he's completely disassociated from the reality of the situation and the general human experience at this point. He's made it so he can't be sad, can't be anxious, can't be bored and so everything he considers a positive experience is magnified. Obviously his general view of the world and the actual information he choose to receive is heavily biased too since it's all tailored to reaffirms his views through his social media company too. I mean just step back and look at how the man actually sees the world at this point. Every rabid clout chasing fanboy is just a normal and honesty person. Every criticism is deep state actor paid by Act Blue to destroy him because they're mad that Trump and him disrupted some plan to take over America by rigging elections and importing Somalians, etc. These are literally things someone would be considered nuts for thinking and saying 10-20 years ago, but the media still acts like Musk is some hyper genius who's completely rational all the time. He's an overweight aging man with a bad spine but in his mind and when looks in the mirror he still thinks he's going to win an MMA match against Mark Zuckerberg. He's had a tenuous grasp on reality for a while and frankly the only surprising thing is that he didn't slip up like this earlier.

Hilda_aka_Math 2026-01-08 17:28

what a weird thing to say.

EarthConservation 2026-01-08 17:41

It was a weird statement, but I don't think an entire article needed to be written about this. He could have just as easily meant that their production capacity was 2 million... even if they only produced 83% of that number in 2025. According to their latest financial report, their overall unproven production capacity is higher at 2.35 million, so they only produced 70% of their claimed capacity in 2025.

himswim28 2026-01-08 17:48

> Lazy people that can't drive, it's the only reason to buy a Tesla. I do want autonomy some day soon, for 3 reasons: 1. Get home while inebriated. 2. In ability to drive due to old age, or similar medical conditions. 3. I drove my grandma around when I was a teenager, and her health were failing. No one should have to drive a car while being yelled at by an old lady. That should be considered inhuman torture , having someone go through that. (Also I am not a "live in the city" type of person.)

Kick-Unusual 2026-01-08 18:19

What reality are you in? Tesla’s are clearly still the best value in the EV market, and honestly the entire car market including ICE vehicles. I don’t care about CEO’s, they all suck just as much or more than Elon. A Hyundai, Kia, Chevy, etc are pieces of junk compared to Model 3 / Y

tuctrohs 2026-01-08 18:26

Your hyperbole makes it clear that you have an agenda rather than being someone objectively assessing the options.

EmbarrassedGanache68 2026-01-08 18:28

Well if he ignores it then he has time to justify his $200b annual bonus.

Kick-Unusual 2026-01-08 18:28

lol yeah you are so unbiased with your Elon hate. Sorry that you can’t look at the objective facts that for 20k a 2 year old Tesla is an obvious buy compared to the competition

longGERN 2026-01-08 18:31

Guys relax, robotaxi will be fully operational in 2019

tuctrohs 2026-01-08 18:33

Oh, sorry for the confusion. This was a discussion of new car sales. I guess that might not have been clear.

Kick-Unusual 2026-01-08 18:36

Same idea where a 40k new Tesla is a far better value than a Hyundai, Kia, or Chevy. But again buying a brand new EV especially makes no sense, since the used EV market has such strong value for the consumer right now

ATX_native 2026-01-08 18:57

His last scuffle with the SEC taught us that he’s got too much power and money for it to be considered fraud.

nickrct 2026-01-08 19:09

In a sense this has already occured. Excess inventory of CTs purchased through SpaceX, which was purchased indirectly through taxpayer funding allocated via NASA allowing them to write off millions. https://electrek.co/2025/12/18/elon-musks-spacex-bought-tens-of-millions-worth-of-cybertrucks-tesla-cant-sell/

And their loved ones.

Fockelot 2026-01-08 21:42

Musk is saying he’s going to bank roll republicans in the midterms again too. I hope it explodes in his face even worse than the nazi salute.

jaguraj 2026-01-08 21:53

Tesla lacks just as much as personality as Musk. I’ll stick with my BMW for my driving experience.

WrongThinkBadSpeak 2026-01-08 22:01

Today it's just called being a CEO

MikeDFootball 2026-01-08 22:36

MOTHERFUCKER! FOR THE LAST GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING TIME, THEY ARE NOT A CAR COMPANY. THEY ARE A TECHNOLOGY/ROBOT/AI/VAPORWARE COMPANY...THE SOONER THEY STOP SELLING CARS THE SOONER THEY CAN SUCCEED!

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 22:51

What makes you think he hasn't? And if he hasn't I'm betting "FSD" has.

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 22:53

Bro, Tesla was never a product company, it's a sciend \*fiction\* company. Flying cars, dude!

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 22:56

Apparently the mainslime media still have yet to figure it it. They still report all his insane ramblings and llies like they are the living words of Jesus F-ing Christ.

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 23:00

It means the company and the stock are no longer linked. The stock is now just tulipmania, caught up in a "investor" frenzy that will ultimately, and probably very soon, lead to a big reality check for a lot of people.

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 23:00

Wile Elon Coyote, super genius.

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 23:01

The only thing growing is Elon's nose.

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 23:02

They can put it in the "bed" but then where will those two sixpacks go?

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 23:03

It's a rolling dumpster fire.

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 23:03

He might even squeeze another 5 years out of the Roadster.

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 23:05

I'm sure ignorance will be his defense strategy when someone finally gets around to prosecuting him. It's amazing there isn't a huge mob with pitchforks waiting for a chance at him.

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 23:06

They can depreciating quit a bit when they are on fire.

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 23:07

No, they are just playing the Greater Fool game, thinking others are stupid enough to keep buying.

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 23:07

The time machine that will take it there will be ready ... next year.

BringBackUsenet 2026-01-08 23:09

A real car company! Mine just turned 27.

longGERN 2026-01-08 23:09

Which was built on Mars

kombiwombi 2026-01-08 23:21

I'd be far more concerned about the Cybertruck. The Tesla plan was always to take the high end of the market and then when that was satisfied, regain market share with a killer low end vehicle. But Tesla has limited engineering, and that was used on the Cybertruxk. Building a truck wasn't a bad idea -- they are the American working class vehicle. But the Cybertruxk was a huge miss. The stacked board -- and willingness of investors to allow it to be stacked -- have to take some of the blame for the Cybertruck concept vehicle getting anywhere near production. A good board would also have called Musk back to the office to deal with the disaster. But instead the moment where action could be taken to ensure Tesla remained dominant was allowed to pass, whilst Musk played at CEO of DOGE  Meanwhile BYD, Gealy and Great Wall have been absolutely focused on being car companies. Using the opportunity of EVs to undermine Japanese global dominance.

ButtFucker40k 2026-01-09 01:42

Good that increases the comedic value of this entire shit show.

ButtFucker40k 2026-01-09 01:42

There is the potential that his grade school teacher was correct and he really is that stupid.

ExcitingMeet2443 2026-01-09 03:07

Future Self Destruction?

Logical_Historian882 2026-01-09 04:05

It tracks because he barely shows up for work

Busy-Explanation4339 2026-01-09 05:42

Just like it's only called 'socialism' when Democrats do it. But when the convicted felon con man buys 10% of Intel and promises $2000 checks for everyone, those same people have nothing to say about it other than the usual bootlicking.

Busy-Explanation4339 2026-01-09 05:47

They are not a car company, they are a science fiction company.

asillyman 2026-01-09 06:41

Question is if is the Norwegians or the Tesla dealerships in Norway who bought them. That Tesla dealerships buy an extra high inventory before tax changes is a known Tesla tactic seen in multible countries, among them Canada and Denmark. I would not be surprised if they are forced to do so, like SpaceX.

Szpagin 2026-01-09 08:39

This. Tesla, at its core, is a manufacturing company that creates a physical product (cars) and sells it to customers. The thing is, you can evaluate its value based on profits and sales trajectory. The sales are dropping with nothing down the pipeline to boost them. So, their strategy to keep the stock price is to chase something else and turn Tesla back into a startup. Hence their move away from cars and towards autonomous taxis.

zdboslaw 2026-01-09 08:40

I thought CEOs couldn’t lie about their company

justsomerandomnamekk 2026-01-09 09:34

Current P/E is 288. With falling sales numbers...

Available_Spot9782 2026-01-09 17:17

Expect China sales to drop hard q1 after their tax rebate was halved Dec 2025. Nov/Dec 2025 sales on China include pull-forward demand as a result. No FSD paid rides or expansion. Waymo in the 1000s in LA alone. I see one waymo every 30 seconds. Tesla's house of cards is falling apart

dtyamada 2026-01-09 21:41

>He did put a “~” in there, but that tilde is doing a lot of work, lifting Tesla’s declining production numbers by nearly 350k units, which is hardly a rounding error by anyone’s estimation Yup. Over 20% is not a rounding error, that's a significant oversell. Also, actually mentioning the tilde gets my respect lol.

winniecooper73 2026-01-10 01:36

I sadly agree with you. As much as I don’t like Elon and will never buy another again, our Tesla is in fact fantastic. The UX/UI alone is much better than any other OEM

Trades46 2026-01-10 05:25

He keeps lying, spewing BS, sells his overpriced shitboxes and the stock keeps going up despite sales YoY dropping across the world. Musk doesn't give a shit until it financially and directly affect himself.

lawtechie 2026-01-10 20:51

Johnny Rockets with additional steps.

Remarkable_Ad7161 2026-01-11 05:04

Now it's called tactical marketing.

Vin_Seba 2026-01-11 13:35

jatufin 2026-01-11 18:09

I can see what you did here.

jatufin 2026-01-11 18:14

True, we'd better wait.

Aardappelhuree 2026-01-11 22:38

Its just a decent car and got a decent deal on it. Elon is obviously an ass but so are the CEOs of many other companies. I test drove multiple EVs and they all have terrible software or just shitty sales tactics (subscriptions, way too many expensive options, etc)

[deleted] 2026-01-12 08:18

In the 40-60k price range the Chinese EV's blow Tesla out of the water. The only reason you don't see them much in the US is because of insane tarrifs

jacqueusi 2026-01-12 14:13

“Reality Distortion Field”

KnucklesMcGee 2026-01-12 18:26

Pretty sure he's aware. But like any good snake oil salesman, he lies effortlessly.
