I'm shocked!

StrangerReasonable17 2026-01-01 01:22

You are being a bit harsh. He actually said "about 3 weeks". Which gives him like 4 years wiggle room.

RefrigeratorTasty912 2026-01-01 01:24

You mean... it was a stunt?... no... never...

RefrigeratorTasty912 2026-01-01 01:24

At least 9 years at this rate.

oregon_coastal 2026-01-01 01:41

We will still be talking about this grift in 2050.

Even-Leave4099 2026-01-01 02:06

The article did also mention that they will only need one or 2 driverless cars to call it a hit. It will also probably be surrounded by safety and support vehicles but don’t mind them when the PR video comes out tomorrow.

TheSilverSeraph 2026-01-01 03:28

Felon Musk lied again? I’m shocked, I tell you. SHOCKED!

PlannerSean 2026-01-01 03:41

In fairness, they aren’t safe so that’s a good call

Sphere_3N 2026-01-01 05:13

What are you talking about? If someone says “about 3 weeks” maybe you could be a week or two off. Even then that’s a bit much. 4 years is ridiculous

FlipZip69 2026-01-01 06:15

About inline with his guidance. Often his guidance never come to fruition. So there is that as well.

carlivar 2026-01-01 06:20

I made money on this with Kalshi.  https://kalshi.com/markets/kxufsd/unsupervised-full-selfdriving-tesla/KXUFSD-25

“Next year!!”

habfranco 2026-01-01 11:29

The only way to keep a company like Tesla overvalued is to constantly make extravagant promises, but rule number 1 is NEVER EVER realise them. Because if you make it real, first of all people “sell the news”. But more importantly you shift the hype from the dream world where everything is possible, to the real world where everything is a pain in the ass. So the key is to never deliver, but always come up with new promises.

noobgiraffe 2026-01-01 11:49

Even if we forget half the country by the end of the year there were to much more recent promises: 500 robotaxis in austin by end of year which was later revised to 2x of Austin fleet which would mean just 60. The second promise was super recent. The second one seemed to be super easy and honestly I'm quite suprised they didn't do it just for optics. They use only 5 at a time anyway.

DryAssumption 2026-01-01 12:46

Funny how Tesla isn’t even close to mass manufacturing a vehicle without human driving controls

AngrySoup 2026-01-01 13:02

"Half a million on the road by the end of 2020"

AngrySoup 2026-01-01 13:05

Is this your first time hearing about famous scam artist Elon Musk? He said there would be half a million robo-taxis on the road by the end of 2020. It is now 2026. 4 years is not ridiculous, more than 4 years literally came and went already. Nothing he says is true.

nlaak 2026-01-01 15:09

> If someone says “about 3 weeks” maybe you could be a week or two off. So in your head, about means as much 33% to 66% wrong? Lol! > 4 years is ridiculous Ironic, considering your comment.

Clint88888 2026-01-01 15:54

The craziest part is that each and every one of Musk’s lies hikes the $TSLA stock by 10%, and then it never corrects down again. As a result, Tesla is overpriced by a truly staggering amount. Too many “analysts” are complicit in the con.

TryIsntGoodEnough 2026-01-01 17:16

But don't worry, some guy who is deeply invested in Tesla claimed to have driven coast to coast via FSD with absolutely no human intervention and provided some still photos as proof

TryIsntGoodEnough 2026-01-01 17:17

And also fully monitored and controlled via a remote operator that somehow won't be logged

Vegetable_Guest_8584 2026-01-01 18:09

Damn, there's a lot of interesting Tesla bets there

Vegetable_Guest_8584 2026-01-01 18:10

This was the most successful one yet, all the other ones almost immediately seem to crash :-). I'm skeptical it's as portrayed without evidence. But it's not impossible.  It's just that any owner who uses it has stories where it mostly works great and then boom, can't get out of a parking lot or something

[deleted] 2026-01-01 19:52

Don't you get the joke? Elon said at the end of December week 1, that in 3 weeks they will come. 3 weeks later from Dec 9... = that's NEXT YEAR! HappyNextYear 2 you :)

carlivar 2026-01-01 19:52

Better option than the insane Tesla stock.

Vegetable_Guest_8584 2026-01-01 20:38

people hate on me for asking questions about how the value of tesla stock can be so high, even as business valuation indicators go backwards, combined with no progress on the big ones..

DisastrousIncident75 2026-01-02 14:17

Did anyone actually believe that ?

Designer-Salary-7773 2026-01-02 15:39

PPS will rise.   Leon will father another child

rxVegan 2026-01-02 22:34

Optimus will be driving robotaxi unsupervised next year. There will be optimus in nearly every household by 2028 which is roughly when mankind will have built permanent presence on Mars thanks to reusable rockets, which can be launched after 30 minutes downtime. Oh and DOGE will have made so much in savings people never have to pay taxes again.
