Question about Tesla Service!

farnswogglegoggle | 2025-12-06 01:19 | 21 views

Hi there, my girlfriend has been having some issue with service from the Tesla Dealer here and is wondering if she is being taken advantage of. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about Teslas (or cars really) to know if that's the case, but maybe yall will. Here's what she has to say: Had Tesla service center replace my front lower fascia because it had some scratches on the driver side. They give it back to me but the passenger side of the new piece was warped and plate holder wouldn’t go in. Took it back and now they’re telling me I need to pay out of pocket for a whole new front bumper in order to fix the issue. I feel like they broke something while replacing the piece since the warping wasn’t there to being with lol. Details missing: None of this was free or complimentary, she's being charged for the work, up to 1000 for the new bumper. The car is a new Model Y but apparently it's not under warranty, she has insurance with Tesla but they advised against making a claim for these repairs. The initial work was due to scratches caused by running over some stripped tire rubber on the highway. She doesn't understand why the first, scratched fascia wasn't warped if that's being caused by an allegedly damaged bumper. She is worried they did something to cause the warping during the replacement. If I can figure out how, I'll post before/after pictures. The collision sub didn't quite feel like the right place, thought maybe yall would give some honest feedback about the situation. Thank you if anyone knows enough about this stuff for an informed answer!

And this is how it looked after the alleged first repair [Picture](https://imgur.com/pwkZ8T2)

Tesla service 🤣🤣🤣 Tesla is a carbon credit company that happens to make EVs to get those credits. Any profits are pumped into the CEOs salary and propping up his other pet projects. Next time you buy a car, maybe buy it from a car company.

hippotango 2025-12-06 01:48

That's really messed up. It was grey to start with and they painted it white? It is very warped.

BajaRooster 2025-12-06 02:18

Once Tesla gets your dollar they care nothing about you, sorry to say.

Slight_Pomelo_1008 2025-12-06 03:03

Dont know why not check this sub first before buying a shit car. Asking for help in an anti sub is weird.

BajaRooster 2025-12-06 03:18

I’ve been a big fan of Tesla and even explored applying there in its infancy, but unfortunately their service ecosystem has proven to be nonexistent. Your grief is pretty status quo. That is all. I seriously wish you the best of luck with it.

Nothing about this looks good. That is as good as it gets from me. Sorry. Hope you find an answer.

Key-Beginning-2201 2025-12-06 04:15

Oh, they advised to not make an insurance claim and to pay them instead? Yeah, you're being taken advantage of.

TSLA stock is up 6% this week. That's their real product.

1. If her deductible is lower than the cost to repair then she should have had insurance take care of it. 2. This wouldn’t fall under warranty, because it’s a scratch that happened after taking ownership. 3. Any type of work like this should be taken to a body shop and not the dealership. 4. The shop that did the repair should definitely be repaired at no cost since they did the damage. Another reason why having insurance deal with it is the better way to go.

djwildstar 2025-12-06 12:30

Yeah, that’s a mess. I honestly wouldn’t have bothered with the initial repair — yes, it’s scratched up, but it isn’t that noticeable and doesn’t look like it would affect drivability or performance. The second picture is straight-up wrong — either the part is not right or the shop screwed things up installing it. I’m honestly not sure where you should go from here; Tesla is unfortunately famous for poor support from over-worked service centers, poor customer support, and expensive repairs.

Kinda like any other company in America? What makes this apply to Tesla only? Any company is in business to make money and grow stock for its investors.

Previous-Look-6255 2025-12-06 13:19

*Tesla Dealer* — you really could have stopped right there.

Beezelbubba 2025-12-06 13:21

How you feeling after your first Musking?

Beginning_Engineer_2 2025-12-06 18:00

In hindsight I suspect most of that scratching would go away with a application of rubbing compound like this [https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Wax-Rubbing-Compound-Cleaner/dp/B01MY9Q38U](https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Wax-Rubbing-Compound-Cleaner/dp/B01MY9Q38U) or numerous other products like this. \~ \~ Maybe small claims court. That would be very expensive for them. Perhaps ask on a law section of Reddit.

Tesla is a charade intended to do nothing but run up the price of TSLA.

They're #10 by market cap but aren't even in the top 200 of earnings. Unreal. [https://companiesmarketcap.com/](https://companiesmarketcap.com/)

You are being taken advantage of, and have been sice the day you bought that garbage vehicle.

neliz 2025-12-06 21:39

You do realize that it's not normal for a company with a steady 10- month sales decline, right? Especially o

Well this is an easy account to block

Congratulations! Tesla has reportedly the worst customer service out of every company. They make Xfiniry/Comcast look caring.

JaniceRossi_in_2R 2025-12-07 13:52

OP, this group hates Tesla/Elon. Post in any other Tesla sub like Model Y or Tesla collision

Real companies are in business to make profit which they can redistribute to their investors (e.g. dividends). The "I'm supporting Tesla by buying TSLA" has got to be the biggest part of the scam. People simply don't realise that a infinitesimal fraction of the money they ever "put in" buying TSLA actually went into R&D, CAPEX or any other investment. At best fans buying TSLA are supporting cheaper convertible debt issuance (which did go into the R&D/CAPEX), but ultimately the vast majority of them are supporting the ongoing dilution impact of freshly minted shares going to the insiders. None of this says many haven't made a fortune speculating on the TSLA price (esp. if they've crystallised their gains), or Tesla are unique in the co-opting the term "investor" into secondary market share price gains that Wall Street pedals, however they are one of the most egregious in modern times.

Read it again - this is what his girlfriends’s story is. Tesla dealer, Tesla service center, probably all she knows is it’s the building on the block near the Starbucks.

reeefur 2025-12-08 18:21

OP, unfortunately you are in the anti-Tesla sub, you likely wont get your answer here. I can tell you as a Tesla owner that their service and insurance is trash. They likely damaged it like they did my brand new car and then denied it and wont fix it. The best way to use Tesla's service and insurance is to hopefully never need it. If there are service centers with good feedback in your area go there but its still a gamble. Good luck!

Affectionate_One7558 2025-12-09 17:32

Your gf ran over something, scraped the bumper? That has nothing to do with warranty work. She should have gone to a body shop. Should have skipped "tesla insurance" because they are scammers and will do the minimum to comply with state insurance regulations.

Objective-Lychee-506 2025-12-11 01:05

...and it's a "new model Y", so it was purchased knowing full well that Elon Musk is a nazi.

Objective-Lychee-506 2025-12-11 01:07

How'd you justify it to yourself buying a car from a nazi?

Objective-Lychee-506 2025-12-11 01:09

If you don't hate Elon at this point, what more would he have to do to change that do you think?

reeefur 2025-12-11 01:17

I bought it before all that and I do regret it, was a bad decision on my part for my 1st EV. I'm trading it in for a Rivian R2. Not sure why you think everyone that owns a Tesla likes Elon, we do not 🤷🏻‍♂️ it isn't easy to just get rid of a car unless you're made of money.

Objective-Lychee-506 2025-12-11 01:21

Fair enough.
