No wonder the stock is up.

Theferael_me 2025-12-04 18:54

No surprise. Shoddy, poorly-built shit.

America-is-not-maga 2025-12-04 19:02

Mine has lasted longer with fewer issues than the 10 other vehicles I've owned in my life.

earthman34 2025-12-04 19:03

Tesla never disappoints…when it comes to being bad.

CloseToMyActualName 2025-12-04 19:11

Tesla is below Jeep. Damn that's gotta hurt.

tryatriassic 2025-12-04 19:12

I'm sure optimus will be the bestest more durable robot ever though.

CarbonKLR 2025-12-04 19:25

Impossible, nothings below jeep

OrangeCeylon 2025-12-04 19:27

I'm glad for it. Imagine how awful someone else's Tesla must be to pull the average down so far.

_MoneyHustard_ 2025-12-04 19:48

Tesla has opened a new dimension into the world of unreliability

CouncilmanRickPrime 2025-12-04 19:59

God damn how often do you buy cars? Edit: I've owned only 3. First two were unreliable garbage tho, third one is rock solid reliable so I've had it for 10 years now.

readit145 2025-12-04 20:00

Let me guess. Those 10 cars had over 200k miles when you got them.

FoShizzleShindig 2025-12-04 20:10

This same article has the Model Y as the most reliable car, not even EV?

AndrewRP2 2025-12-04 20:17

I wonder if that can still be true but cybertruck drags down the brand.

FoShizzleShindig 2025-12-04 20:19

It's probably the older models dragging the average down. They mention Rivian and Lucid going through the same thing with their newer cars.

Bendy_McBendyThumb 2025-12-04 21:01

And yet: https://cleantechnica.com/2025/12/01/german-study-finds-tesla-model-y-has-worst-reliability-of-2022-2023-models-yikes/ So, it’s reliable until it very quickly isn’t.

WrongThinkBadSpeak 2025-12-04 21:14

Or rather, *always* disappoints

oregon_coastal 2025-12-04 21:40

If they ever make one, a group of us want to start a pool to bet on how the first human is killed by one.

oregon_coastal 2025-12-04 21:41

It can be reliable off the lot. Then start breaking down quickly. That is why they survey us every year. I have done the survey on probably 20 vehicles over the decades. They used to mail it out 😀

Finnegan_Faux 2025-12-04 21:54

Different article, it's the one that predicts new car reliability based on the last few years. The new Model Y (81/100) ranking seems off given that the outgoing Model Y was nowhere near that reliable (41/100) IIRC. OTOH, the long-in-the-tooth Lexus IS score (84/100) makes more sense.

Had my Tesla 3 months. New when purchased. Now on third trip to the service center. Had prior car a Volvo for 8 years, one service trip. Before Tesla had lots of new cars, can’t remember ever having a service issue in the first couple years of ownership. Tesla has terrible build quality, like an AMC with a computer.

zitrored 2025-12-04 22:51

“Musk opened a portal to another reality.”Tesla shareholders will say. 😂

zitrored 2025-12-04 22:55

It’s always amazing to read your Tesla experience and the experience of other owners. I understand cars have defects but darn it why does Tesla seem to have such a dichotomy? IMO the cult Tesla owners look past anything to elevate their personal interests.

MelSWFla 2025-12-04 23:16

I think many Tesla owners are willing to overlook build quality issues because of FSD and Tesla’s extensive charging network. It is very hard for me to do so after spending 100K+. Once the German manufacturers work out their driver assistance software, Tesla will be in real trouble. Mercedes already has level 3 up to 60 mph available in Germany. It is only a matter of time before they overtake Tesla.

Busy-Explanation4339 2025-12-05 01:05

Cue the "they are not a car company, they are a sex robot company" Elongelicals.

Busy-Explanation4339 2025-12-05 01:06

I laugh every time I see a ~~driver~~ sucker in a Jeep.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-05 02:02

I've notice they've been near the bottom a long time, so now they finally got first place.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-05 02:02

Remember do not take Stellantis if you have an erection lasting over four hours.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-05 02:04

He'll put them to work building cars and the quality will reach new lows.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-05 02:05

Ya, I think my '99 BMW will outlive me.

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-05 02:07

At least they are honest and call it "driver assist" and not "full self driving".

BringBackUsenet 2025-12-05 02:09

They are a smoke and mirrors company.

Nd46478 2025-12-05 07:24

Especially when their service centres commit fraud when dealing with warranty claims

Normal-Selection1537 2025-12-05 10:13

In Finland 49% failed their 2024 first inspection which is after 3 years. The second worst was Dacia Duster with 26%. Imagine being way worse than the cheapest most basic car.

nlaak 2025-12-05 15:01

> Mine has lasted longer with fewer issues than the 10 other vehicles I've owned in my life. Yeah, your anecdote surely trumps the thousands of reports of failures in Teslas. As others do, I wonder how many of those 10 were new when you bought them, but also wonder how much is confirmation bias defending your purchase choice.

Potential_Limit_9123 2025-12-05 16:16

Plus, they use a ton of sensors for their driver assistance. Way more than just cameras.

jgoldrb48 2025-12-05 18:53

Stonks up!

Agile-View-8330 2025-12-06 03:19

Mercedes is already approved for Level 3 in certain U.S. States as well.

PolyPill 2025-12-06 07:11

The reason for the “Germany Study” is that it’s the TÜV road reliability test done after 3 years. They fail often due to brakes not being used and suspension issues due to the heavy chassis. Normally you bring your car to the dealer who checks it over and fixes anything before they bring it to TÜV for the inspection. There’s no dealer for Tesla, so people bring the car directly to it without any initial check and because of that they fail more, especially the heavier Y. My Toyota would have failed for brakes if the dealer hadn’t fixed it before the inspection. Take away from this what ever you want, I just want people to know the full context since only Germans tend to understand what these reports mean.

SpectrumWoes 2025-12-06 10:34

*Toyota Hilux has entered the chat*

EverythingMustGo95 2025-12-06 10:38

Dibs on the “failed to supervise the car’s FSD” box.

gbe28 2025-12-06 13:26

Yeah hang on to that one for sure. New Tundra's are about as reliable as a cybertruck.

bannedUncleCracker 2025-12-06 15:36

… working in the Tier 2/3 supplier world, these guys were ALWAYS amateurs. Their understanding of building a vehicle, other than the powertrain, was less than zero. There is a lot more sophistication to making a damn cupholder, for example, than an idiot like Elon thinks. Now think of stuff like door handles, paint, seat materials, trim and you see why these things look and feel cheap-they are.

bmlunar 2025-12-06 16:07

I've replaced various door handles on my 2015 Model S 11 times. Do recalls even exist anymore?

HT1990 2025-12-06 16:20

Because Tesla owners had crappy fuel cars before owning a Tesla and think that everything great with EVs is a Tesl trait.

Fun-Crow6284 2025-12-06 23:01

There are many delusional Tesla fanboys+ Elon Elmo fans out there ! They are saying this is a hit piece!! Fake news !!

Busy-Explanation4339 2025-12-07 00:31

Hilarious how the narrative keeps changing. At first it was "they are not a car company, they are a tech and energy company". Then it was just a tech company, then it became an AI company. Now it's because they are a sex robot company.

Slytherin23 2025-12-07 12:49

It's very rare to hear of an issue on a Tesla though. Seems like the heat pump is the biggest failure point.

Icy-person666 2025-12-07 14:39

Given their weight and the walking demonstrations should them with big hooks and chains in their heads, I'm suspecting it may have happened already or at least severely injured someone.

your_fathers_beard 2025-12-07 22:27

Concerning. Also have by far the worst service record considering only they can work on them, and they suck at it.

tryatriassic 2025-12-08 02:48

Ironically, sex robots could be the first use case that leads the way into mass adoption. See how porn revolutionized Internet video and payments.

capital_folly 2025-12-08 05:26

Tesla keeps optimising for speed, not durability. Works for early adopters, but not for a mass market that expects cars to behave like… cars.

rootkeycompromise 2025-12-08 10:47

Maybe that is different in Germany (are there really no dealerships for Tesla in Germany?), but in Denmark, we take our cars directly to inspection not visiting the dealer first and also here, Tesla is failing inspections more often than other brands.

PolyPill 2025-12-08 11:32

Older cars, no one takes it to a dealer first but for the first required inspection, which is after 3 years, I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t because it’s typically covered under the warranty as part of the yearly inspection from the dealer. I find your statement odd because at least for VW, Audi, and Toyota. I know for a fact they do a yearly inspection under their warranty plan and you find this information applicable to other countries on their website. So it’s not quite true what you say, whether the dealer handles the official inspection or not on the same day, the cars are still being inspected before. I also find it odd that this report is cited everywhere but I have never heard of the Denmark one. If this is happening in many countries then it would make for a far better story.

Ok_Length_5168 2025-12-08 19:00

😂 went to a Tesla service center because the plastic wheel arches were peeling off. The service advisor looks at one side and immediately accuses me of being in an accident. I take him to the other side with the same problem and dude reluctantly agrees to cover it under warranty. The service centers are absolutely terrible. Takes more than a month to get an appointment and forget about a loaner lmao. Impossible to even call them.

aftenbladet 2025-12-09 12:35

Would love to know what parts of the car that doesnt last. I think bushings/suspension and brakes?

RandomlyJim 2025-12-09 17:14

They famously used wooden flooring trim pieces from Home Depot to hold down engine parts. Why would anyone expect quality?
