As of quality of american Build teslas werent Bad enough…
that will go super well in china.
They claimed this about parts of their energy storage... Don't trust them.
Outside of those pesky batteries I’m sure.
That will almost certainly make them worse
The batteries were never chinese in the American market models They are Japanese He said no chinese parts, he's hoping ya all assume that means American
So Elon is going to push the cost of using non-Chinese parts onto the suppliers, because I really doubt he's going to destroy Tesla's margins to do so.
Great. I’m still not buying one. 👍
So no Chinese PCBs? Is that even possible?
For a while, Tesla was importing CATL's battery technology to make cars in Fremont.
Right......
This might be true, after a trillion to #F.Elon, they might be CEO-poor, to be able to afford the highly tariffed Chinese parts!
Looks like tariff is working
😁😁😁😁😂😂😂😂😂 so they are now with Pedals?

Don’t believe his lies
Somehow, I don't think that the Chinese sales of Tesla's will be increasing. Stock will still go up.
A good goal to strive for, but seems unrealistic in any kind of short time-frame, if ever.
This is a good thing and the intended outcome of tariffs (except they probably could have been implemented in a better way). That said, where is the lithium going to come from? Or it doesn’t matter to Tesla because the battery assemblers are non Chinese foreign companies that don’t pay those tariffs?
The LFP batteries in the lower end money 3 and y are CATL from China.
When your car is slamming on the brakes to avoid a leaf you don’t worry that a part will break in 50,000 miles.
They make half their cars at the Shanghai China gigafactory, China doesn’t care if the Austin Tx gigafactory does this.
This sounds like genuine experience I'm concerned to say
China cares when Elon insults China.
Every single piece of plastic needs its own line. This should be funny.
Now piss off Chinese customers too
Don't worry they will "buy" the parts from an American company that imported them from China, then they can claim all was from America
My loose recognition is that those are deemed too shoddy for US roads by the DOT so they end up in forgien markets. Tesla only approved for Nicole cobalt aluminum based ones on US roads
Model S and X historically had Japanese 18650 cells from Japan. I am not sure if that changed in the last few years but those production lines are probably still profitable for Panasonic and Tesla and pricey to convert to something else so probably still running. Model 3 and Y long range/performance have historically had 2170 cells, which most frequently were made by Panasonic "North America" in the Reno, NV gigafactory. So Japanese parent company, American made cells, but largely American run with some Japanese oversight and some Japanese employees. Then there's also been additional 2170s from other companies once they came to the scene, like LG, but I think a lot of those were actually made in China. And then of course the LFP bricks from China/CATL in the standard range model 3/Y That was all a few years ago... Now it's just starting to get too complicated to follow, it's a literal job to figure out what cell goes where, and not a fun one
There are couple large deposits outside of China, one right here in California (Salton Sea).
Lies, all lies
And the Chinese are buying less and less Teslas all the time. Not the own you think it is.
This is not possible.
Dumbest comment of the day award 🥇
Nicole must be the most sought-after component of them all.
God damnit autocorrect
They are. Their domestic market has lots of competitors.
That means it’ll all be made in India, Pakistan, Vietnam, or some other country.
I'm gonna laugh when in a year Musk is begging for access to CATL's Naxtra sodium ion batteries. All that lithium focus, for naught lmao.
And it failed you with "foreign"
My rooftop has 9kW of Panasonic panels (actually O.G. PV Sanyo tech that Panasonic acquired) manufactured in Malaysia and my garage has a Model Y with 80kWh of Panasonic 2170 cells (1000+ laptops' worth) made in Reno. I'm OK with that, especially since gov't paid me ~$20k to buy all that LOL . . . hope this consumer tech will last me thru to 2040, we'll see!
yeah when I was a super-long on TSLA in 2021-23 the thought occurred to me that there was no way they were going to be able to out-R&D the entire world, even with Elon's supergenius working on it. (I never bought into the Elon myth then but I did believe the company was committed to rapid expansion this decade, as it had 2015- 2020 . . . once the Monterrey factory was aabandoned in mid-2024 I knew things were rotten in Denmark)
They’re saving those good Chinese parts for their Chinese vehicles!
> where is the lithium going to come from? Lithium originates in Bolivia.
Xitler does anyway.
A lot of companies are pulling manufacturing out of China due to political risks. That doesn't mean moving to the US. Maybe they'll try India or Vietnam like the others.
Foreign really should just be spelled *nnnn* given the pronunciation. Geeze, I'm stoned.
And where does Japan get the materials for the batteries from?
Ironically their best cars come from that factory too. Like the ones from the China factory have less issues but that’s because of the even worse workers rights there; which yes, they do want to bring to Texas and try. Just be aware every dollar spent with Tesla is enabling modern day slavery. If you think otherwise ask some employees that work there. They specifically hire people that can’t make more than $20 an hour due to records or age.
Tesla sales in China will skyrocket.
Lol good luck with that
Four-N is a strange pronunciation.
Doesn’t Tesla make it’s own batteries at the gigafactory?
PRAISE KING ORANGE ASS
you are flat wrong. The standard model 3 has had lfp batteries since 2021.
The problem isn't that the parts come from China...Elon.
Xi comes from the Shanghai power centre, and Musk is seen as a win for the city. That's why when the tariff crisis struck Musk was immediately on the plane to Xi's trusted friend Ding Xuexiang to explain himself.
Too bad they don't do him like they did Jack Ma.
It's a Panasonic Energy North America factory physically located inside the Tesla gigafactory Nevada. The cell factory there is not owned or operated by Tesla but the cells made there are all purchased by Tesla. Tesla owns other cell factories which are mostly for 4680 cells
Ma is back in the tent. Everyone recognises his speech was right, and the reputation of banking took a big hit as their over-investment in property played out. It's now clear that Xi used the opportunity to push Europe-style tech and monopoly regulation into Chinese big business. A move now seen as prescient given that Musk bought himself a government position and then personally demolished the regulation of his own businesses. Because Ma's warning had personal consequences his actions are even seen as a little patriotic, if with a foolhardiness typical of his character.
South Korean LG makes batteries for Dacia in Poland, I’m sure we could get them to set up a similar factory here in the…wait, what?
Maybe they’re using cloned horse brains to run the FSD AI? That would actually explain a whole lot tbh, from the random movements to the self-destructive behaviors…
Shanghai also handles most export markets for tesla, basically everything except model Y for the european market (made in berlin). They don‘t export anything from the US.
Tesla has no plans to stop manufacturing in China, they have their biggest factory there producing for all non-US markets. There‘s a reason why the announcement specifies „american built cars“, you can‘t buy those anywhere outside america.
The reason is tariffs make it more expensive. After Trump gone and Tesla will be back on China cheaper parts.
Factory inception
We don’t ask that question in polite society.
They were not importing the 'battery technology'. They were just Chinese batteries.
Suppliers don’t have the margins for this they would go bankrupt, the cost will be eaten by Tesla or the Consumers
That's one hell of a great news
Hmm, we say 'for-in' - how do you say it? Now I'm curious.
How about let’s just not buy cars made by a nazi? No, really. Just don’t buy Tesla. Used? Sure, and don’t worry about paying the 10k for the auto drive feature. New? Nope. Sorry Tesla, you had me cheering you on until DOGE and your help with getting the nazi party into Germany’s parliament. We’re done here.
