That's like 10% of all cybercucks.

PoppinfreshOG 2025-10-30 15:02

Soooo, all of them?

Engunnear 2025-10-30 15:04

>Tesla is recalling 6,197 Cybertrucks in the United States because a detached light bar could fall and pose a road hazard to other vehicles, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Thursday. I'd be more concerned about the body panels falling off, but this is a start.

ComicsEtAl 2025-10-30 15:08

Okay, so *NOT* because it’s trash off-road?

Jonesy1966 2025-10-30 15:09

How many recalls is that now. 9? It's also interesting to note that every single CT that's currently on the road has been involved in at least one recall. Every. Single. One.

mr_bots 2025-10-30 15:11

Isn’t this the one that just glues to the windshield?

Horror_Salt1523 2025-10-30 15:13

Elon must have been eating some of the glue they needed for that batch of dumpsters

[deleted] 2025-10-30 15:18

Who in their right mind is still buying a Cybertruck? I see a handful on the road every now and again and they still look like something made in someone's garage for a soapbox derby.

Tricky_Wonder_2414 2025-10-30 15:20

“We’re sending 20,000 cybertrucks to Mars by 2027 along with 50,000 Optimus Robots. The goal is to capture Martian minerals and develop ecosystems to cohabitate both planets as truly interstellar species” - Elon Musk

Spottswoodeforgod 2025-10-30 15:21

I think they counted some twice.

LVegasGuy 2025-10-30 15:23

RecallTruck ™

Away_Double4708 2025-10-30 15:29

Don't you realize that this help highlight Tesla's advantage over other cars? It's an over the air software update.

DBDude 2025-10-30 15:30

No, just the people who had the off road light bar installed after they bought it. Turns out the dealers didn't install some properly, leading to Tesla getting some hundreds of warranty repairs on them. So Tesla decided they should all be checked and fixed if necessary. The headlight software update was for all Cybertrucks, and that was 63,619.

donttakerhisthewrong 2025-10-30 15:44

Teslas unbox is based on gluing assembles together Tesla CyberTruck is proof Tesla cannot glue things together

TormentedOne 2025-10-30 15:48

The other recall was for roughly 63000 of them... So about 10 percent of them.

rematar 2025-10-30 15:57

Turbulent-Phone-8493 2025-10-30 16:07

I thought the off-road light bar was an illegal mod anyway

Lacrewpandora 2025-10-30 16:07

Temporarily glued, apparently.

Lacrewpandora 2025-10-30 16:08

For the 2024 Cybertruck, there's been 10 recalls in all. 2025 2 recalls so far.

jaimi_wanders 2025-10-30 16:13

There were zero recalls for my Toyota that I drove for almost ten years…

dsdvbguutres 2025-10-30 16:19

There are that many in running&driving condition still? Impressive.

farrrtttttrrrrrrrrtr 2025-10-30 16:22

This is very common especially for new models. Majority of these are also software fixes, only 3 actual hardware recalls that I can recall

dtyamada 2025-10-30 16:26

Yes. And isn't an official accessory.

dtyamada 2025-10-30 16:28

https://mashable.com/article/tesla-cybertruck-recall-glue-lightbar An article with some more details.

mr_bots 2025-10-30 16:32

I thought it was an official accessory bought and installed at Tesla centers?

dtyamada 2025-10-30 16:42

I probably shouldn't have worded it better. It's an 'official' accessory but it's convoluted to get installed. It is described better in this recent article. https://electrek.co/2025/10/30/tesla-recalls-about-10-of-cybertrucks-for-using-the-wrong-glue/ >It doesn’t come with every truck, and isn’t even available as an option. It’s also not even listed as an accessory on Tesla’s online shop. It’s only available as a retrofit through Tesla’s service network, for which you have to make a service request to get it installed.

SC_W33DKILL3R 2025-10-30 16:49

You had to install it yourself as it was illegal. The car is not allowed on the road with it meaning Telsa couldn't fit it. Elmo, being the genius he is promised is as an accessory so this is their work around, no official support, something the customer agrees so install only when driving on private land / off road. But being the genius he is, the solution is a hack job that has causes more issues and cost Tesla more money.

Lacrewpandora 2025-10-30 16:55

I know you Branch Elonians only tally physical recalls as "real"...for reasons only Elon knows, I'm sure....but for accuracy, there have been 6 recalls of the type devote Evangelicals agree to be genuine. \- trapped accelerator pedal \- faulty inverter \- trunk trim flies off vehicle \- wiper failure \- light bar flies off vehicle \- Cant rail flies off vehicle And if you think its totally normal to have multiple recalls for parts flying off the car, I've got a sentient AI powered robot and a bridge for sale.

Lacrewpandora 2025-10-30 16:57

I don't even know what any of that means. Does Tesla not sell and install these lick and stick light bars?

ExtraSmooth 2025-10-30 16:58

For comparison, Rivian R1 had 6 recalls in its first two years. As far as I can tell, 3 of them were software related and 3 of them were issues with physical parts, mostly small but essential things like lights. One was said to cause an increased risk of crash. https://rivian.com/support/article/recall-information

Clegko 2025-10-30 16:59

There was one recall for my 2nd gen Chevy Colorado, and it was literally "We can't remember if we tightened a nut on the HVAC blend door, so we're gonna double check it next time you come in."

dtyamada 2025-10-30 17:06

Iirc they weren't allowed to install it for regulatory reasons. Here's an article from the when it was released: https://www.jalopnik.com/tesla-will-sell-you-a-cybertruck-light-bar-that-it-lega-1851678511/ In another article in includes text from the owner's manual: https://www.torquenews.com/14093/teslas-workaround-street-illegal-cybertruck-lightbar#:~:text=The%20Tesla%20Lightbar%20for%20Cybertruck,they%20handwash%20away%20any%20responsibility. >The Tesla Lightbar for Cybertruck is designed only for off road use. Tesla by law cannot install the lightbar electronics and configure the vehicle for lightbar control. >Tesla employees are not permitted to connect or assist with the connection of the Cybertruck off road lightbar harness to the roof accessory jumper harness connector. Only the customer or a third-party entity is permitted to complete the lightbar harness connection.

PauseLeading3769 2025-10-30 17:14

So that’s all of them?

homoiconic 2025-10-30 17:19

I think it's going to be a long, long time before I allow the words [Rocket Man](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_QZe8Z66x8) to be sullied by any association with Elon Musk.

fullup72 2025-10-30 17:21

They used wood glue

[deleted] 2025-10-30 17:28

More concerned about the self termination protocol when vehicle door locked during crash

ElJamoquio 2025-10-30 17:34

> a sentient AI powered robot and a bridge for sale. I'm holding out for a self driving car or an electric semi

ElJamoquio 2025-10-30 17:34

Dealers weren't supposed to install them at all; they're illegal

ElJamoquio 2025-10-30 17:35

It is an illegal modification.

ElJamoquio 2025-10-30 17:35

not sure if joking or just a teslalicker

Lacrewpandora 2025-10-30 17:41

And auto-wipers!

Inevitable-Peace7 2025-10-30 17:49

Hi, I'm looking for my headlights. If anyone has seen a set of Cyber headlights next to the road, please message me. It's been tough driving at night .. 😏

Shootels 2025-10-30 17:55

Upper middle class tech bro adjacent cucks.

[deleted] 2025-10-30 18:22

They should recall all of them and give everyone their money back like VW had to do with dieselgate.

0xe1e10d68 2025-10-30 20:36

How do you apply glue via OTA?

0xe1e10d68 2025-10-30 20:37

because Elon.

[deleted] 2025-10-30 21:54

That's roughly 2 months worth of production. They BRAGGED about 1k+ a week. They hardly do 500+, and slowly killing off the models.

[deleted] 2025-10-30 21:56

I'm not concerned at all - it's what they deserve. I'm looking forward to future problems. Not like all the worry in the world would change this outcome. They are amateurs led by a moron. Any TRUE engineer would kill the car in an instant. Nothing is redeeming about it.

razor_train 2025-10-30 22:53

"Still love the truck, though I can barely see it!"

practicaloppossum 2025-10-30 23:57

Hmm, according to that article, the fix is to put it back on with double sided tape. Which doesn't exactly sound secure.

Weikoko 2025-10-31 00:04

SpaceX

OrdinaryPollution339 2025-10-31 01:14

Can I interest you in a flying roadster? Rocket powered!

Battle_of_BoogerHill 2025-10-31 03:42

Hey, remember how production used soap to glue the pedals to the throttle control? The hand soap is glue to this "genius" company. And people still buy this shit

[deleted] 2025-10-31 20:42

I’m seeing a lot in the area I live, I think they’re used buys tbh

xMagnis 2025-11-01 04:25

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they just made up the number to make it sound like they sold more.

idcenoughforthisname 2025-11-01 23:27

Maybe they can just do a software update to fix it.

Olderpostie 2025-11-02 04:06

For a company that has all its chips all on the board for development of safe autonomous vehicle operation, it doesn't inspire confidence.
