Is this video about "Would Enron even be that bad by Today's standards" a jab at Elon Musk's constant lies?

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CN7P-uyd2M](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CN7P-uyd2M) I have to remind myself that the 1990's and 2000's were a different place where Al Gore was destroyed for telling half truths. . . But Trump is blatantly lying and it doesn't seem to affect his poll numbers.

The Cult of Trump (or Elon's or Netanyahu's or Putin's or...) has endless ways to justify its support of whatever it is he does. Trump could declare himself Emperor of America today, tell Congress and SCOTUS that they are dissolved, send the military to every state house and his cultists would get angry with everyone for criticizing his behavior. They are out of their minds and beyond hope. I avoid them as I would avoid wild animals.

Agreed.

I don't think so. But I do think that Tesla is doing shady accounting that might eventually come out and bite them if the cult ever breaks.

The way Enron hid losses was insane, and I can’t stop thinking about a parallel to how cars appereltly are moving around in Tesla, SpaceX and xAI, it’s not normal. But the rollercoaster can keep on running as long as it’s so easy for fElon to raise more billions. But yes promises has been made over and over again, and not much has been true and yet the stock goes up.

Gore and Kerry were destroyed for telling the truth and being Democrats in the Fox News Era.

zedk47 2025-10-29 22:18

It's now much easier to make money

jmradus 2025-10-29 23:19

Yeah but his body language was dismissive during the debate or some shit.

MUCHO2000 2025-10-29 23:34

You're just mad there is finally a person in the White House who can't be bought. That's what a dip shit ex co-worker of mine just posted on Facebook. I can cite five examples off the top of my head where Trump engaged in obviously blatant corruption via a quid pro quo. The problem is these people are not getting the same information we are. Propaganda works better than ever thanks and it's going to get worse. Add in the tribalism and desperation of the average citizen and it's a recipe for electing a person that tried to overturn an election and cheering him on as he tramples over laws and the constitution.

He makes Enron, Worldcom and Theranos look like petty street crimes.

any plausible theories about how Tesla's managing to do the impossible? After the DoGe debacle, worldwide he lost credibility. People were boycotting this guy personally all his products everything related. So what exactly is the mechanism of Tesla imploding and now not. How many quarters you have to put into this washing machine anyway?

SolutionWarm6576 2025-10-30 01:11

Think it’s easier technology wise to fake stuff with photoshop, AI etc. these days. Optimus *cough*, *cough*.

War_Fries 2025-10-30 08:28

> or... Orban's, Erdogan's, Milei's, Wilders'. The common denominator is far-right populism. They are all far-right populists. Yes, Putin, [too](https://ecfr.eu/article/conservatism-by-decree-putin-as-a-figurehead-for-the-global-far-right/).

The older I get, the more I realize people like or dislike what they’re told(/perceive others to like or dislike). Republicans have always been more shameless in how they try to control the narrative. Obama was treated like a dictator who breaks laws and norms. Republicans were SURE Obama would try to go for a third term, and now they’re cheering on Trump.

TSLA’s prices aren’t really solely dependent on the US holders. The biggest investors are European pension funds. Not to mention that China just capitulated on their rare earth export controls for the US. I don’t know what the fuck people outside the US sees in Trump or people like Musk. But I hate to say it, they do have that cult behavior too.

Andy_Fish_Gill 2025-10-30 12:54

Isn’t $TSLA P/E Ratio of 308 top tier, and justifies higher stock prices? /s

Keeping in mind that all politicians tell half truths, what were the ones that Gore told? He did use the wrong office to make campaign donation requests and defended it by saying something about "no controlling authority." But would that transgression even rank anymore?

No_Pen8240 2025-10-30 16:11

“I took the initiative in creating the Internet.” Gore “said half his campaign staff were women, and he would make half of a Gore Cabinet women.” - It was aspirational but the first half was not true.

Due-Presentation-103 2025-10-30 22:38

He’s been reasonably supported on the internet statement; okay on the aspirational political things. [https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/internet-of-lies/](https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/internet-of-lies/)

No_Pen8240 2025-10-30 23:04

I quoted him correctly. . . And his initiative deserves no credit

Due-Presentation-103 2025-10-31 01:22

I didn’t suggest you did. It’s just debatable whether his claim was a half truth.

of_course_you_are 2025-11-01 10:18

Considering he's shifting losses to other companies, its the same but larger scale. BTW he's now storing trucks at boca chica to make the inventory look better. Forensic audit would show he's cooking the books
