I was caught up in the mass pre-emptive banning around November last year. Pretty much every Tesla sub. Which kinda half sucks, as some of them had good technical chat, and as an owner of a 2015 Tesla I need all the help I can get…

It’s a marketing term that isn’t a good description of the product. That’s why there’s a class action lawsuit. I have it, and I actually like it; however I wish I would have been able to just subscribe to it. If I could get my money back (because they don’t typically offer the ability to transfer or sell it) I would love to get my money back. I used it recently to drive me home from the airport after a long international flight, and it did a great job of navigating me around complicated freeways and I basically didn’t need to intervene except to step on the accelerator for the whole hour long trip home.

Try the r/TeslaFSD sub. It's run by different mods and they don't suppress negative posts about FSD.

Many people who haven't even posted in those subs are banned. If you even participate in any comments of anti-elon subs they'll ban you in the Tesla ones. That's how fragile things are for them.

I don’t have a Tesla anymore, but the last time I tried their bullshit FSD it almost immediately tried to kill me. On a wide open flat straight empty divided country highway. Just like it did the previous time I tried it.

It's as much a loyalty test as it is a name. If you're willing to accept that a janky L2 driver assist system should properly be called "Full Self Driving," then you'll be willing to accept anything (like that Elon deserves a $1 trillion pay package, hahaha.) Man, I got banned from the other subs simply for replying to something on here a couple of times. They’re incredibly thin-skinned and apparently can’t handle even reasonable disagreement, or pointing out facts they don’t like, or simply not drinking the Elon cool aid.

I've had a Model 3 since 2018/2019. I've done multiple free FSD trials, and every single time, I end up turning it off day 1 because it drives me insane. It's wild that they still get any suckers to pay thousands for this awful feature.

It just sat there at a green light and did not go in one instance, and then it failed to get in the center lane to make a left turn and instead was indecisive and went back-and-forth and I had to take over. Both of these operations at the same intersections were flawless a week ago.

I was also banned from the other Tesla subs after I complained about how crappy the auto wipers feature was. Now, after many years they finally made it better. The other Tesla subs only allow good words about Tesla, no complains.

I haven’t experienced phantom breaking. But it for some reason liked to pick up new bad habits. It likes to swerve in the road bc it thinks there’s something on the road ie for a puddle of water, a stain on the road, and a pothole(it used to drive right over it). Other than that no complaints. I use FSD for my commute everyday

Many Tesla owners have unfortunately become blind-sided cultists and shills for Elon Musk. Like a weird religious cult, no critical questions tolerated. “Teslarians” is a fitting word play, I chuckled when I heard it the first time. Especially “Teslarians” who also happen to own (a lot of) Tesla stock. The worst of the worst. Some of them even try to cover up or downplay dangerous FSD/Autopilot incidents (because public disclosures would hurt the stonk price…).

I noticed this too as I went from a model S to the Model X, and is why I didn’t weigh their FSD as a major factor for what car I got after. First generations of the self driving were trained with more guardrails, later they said they were using machine learning for it to train on real driver’s data, which sounds good for scald, but a lot of drivers are shit. After every update, I noticed different behaviors on my regular work commute. For example, on one strip of the freeway where there is a merging on ramp near the exit I need to take, it always dropped from 65 to suddenly 35 mph. I suspected it was getting confused with the on ramp lane and matching the speed limit of that ramp. Over time I disabled the navigate on autopilot and lane changing, so I was basically just using it for lane keeping and adaptive cruise control, which it would do safely and I felt more comfortable. I was always excited to try out the new Tesla features and my wife hated it, but it kept getting worse so I didn’t trust it anymore. So watch out for changes in behavior with each update and don’t use it on the streets if it gets too unreliable.

If you installed v14.1 you should expect the jittery brake issues until .2 is released.

In 2014 I bought a Mercedes with their self-driving, which was about on par with Tesla at the time. However, they did not do any over-the-air updates, so that thing worked the exact same way every single day I had that car. It worked decently well on highways, it had its quirks, but it was *consistent*, and that increases safety. Updating software like that, and having it inconsistently regress in some situations is incredibly unsafe, because drivers will have learned what the car can and can't do, and then it suddenly can't any longer? That's an accident waiting to happen.
