Tesla will post an enormous loss for q4 this year that will only get worse in all of 26 as the cash cow that is carbon offsets drys up and Rivian takes a huge chunk of their U.S. sales when the R2 takes off.

Character_Top1019 2025-10-26 15:01

He got all your data. That was the real heist.

War_Fries 2025-10-26 15:05

And he stopped the investigations into him and his companies. Because, you know, corruption and nepotism are now normal.

BringBackUsenet 2025-10-26 15:07

Slate will be coming soon as well. Regardless the Tesla brand is now toxic and as long as Wile Elon Coyote is associated with it, there a huge demographic that won't go near it.

Engunnear 2025-10-26 15:12

MattGdr 2025-10-26 15:13

What a shrewd businessman!!

DotJun 2025-10-26 15:16

The real question is, does this hurt other manufacturers more than what it hurt Tesla in lost sales going forward? That’s a lot of money that Tesla has gotten to hoard that other companies are now not privy to since they are starting out years behind.

Fockelot 2025-10-26 15:19

Never forget that Elon Musk propelled DJT into the White House.

Grunge4U 2025-10-26 15:22

It might hurt startups but in the U.S. Tesla's biggest competitor's are legacy auto makers who still produce more gas cars than EV'S. Musk just isn't that smart, he got caught up in Trump's mega web not realizing how bad his policies are for Tesla.

Sharkwatcher314 2025-10-26 15:28

This was the goal. That people don’t realize that is odd

Pangolin_farmer 2025-10-26 15:30

I think the reality is Elon was facing a very real and immediate threat from multiple investigations in 2024 that could have significantly hurt him and the only way out of them was through Trump and DOGE. Elon replaced an immediate problem with one he thought he could fix later.

Outrageous_Rush_8354 2025-10-26 15:45

Imagine if Trump decides to get some revenge too or Burry reveals himself short

fau5tarp 2025-10-26 15:45

TSLA up 16% in early Monday trading.

Red-eleven 2025-10-26 15:47

Slate looks like ass. I’m sure they will sell but I’m not sure who’s buying

Buddycat350 2025-10-26 15:48

Tesla is rather unlikely to manage to turn a profit for the Semi sales as well. The damn thing will end up having less range and being more expensive to what was announced. I don't know how much money was spent between the R&D and building the new lines for it, but that's probably a pretty penny. All that just because Musk had a "genius" idea/bender about trucks.

Trevellation 2025-10-26 15:49

Tesla's market cap has been a house of cards for years now. There were several ongoing investigations that could've brought that house down... before Elon put Trump in the White House and ended them. Trump is bad for Tesla's revenue, but he's great for their scams. They've successfully made the pivot from car company to scam company, and there's no better President for a Ponzi corporation.

hashswag00 2025-10-26 15:49

Can't wait

Flimsy-Run-5589 2025-10-26 15:51

I've stopped believing that anything will have consequences for Musk or Tesla. It's similar to Trump. They can do whatever they want. Tesla's stock will rise even if it returns to operating losses, so what? They can print money through capital increases, and their followers will buy. It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy: with enough money and time, they might even get some of their vapor products to work. That's how they survived the early years. If Musk hadn't lied to investors with unrealistic timelines to keep the stock price high, they would have gone bankrupt long ago, and it still works. There's still enough dumb money out there. Tesla is repeating what they did with cars with Optimus or in the energy sector. They promise incredible profits and people believe them, ignoring cheaper existing competitors from China. 20 million Optimus by 2030!

PrestigiousDrag7674 2025-10-26 15:59

Not many ppl are buying Tesla. Its ugly. The interior is old. Elon is more focused on xAI and SpaceX. Half of Americans hate him. I am shorting Tesla.

The slate is cheap and easily customizable, probably would do better for people trying to manage debt.

Salty_NorCal 2025-10-26 16:21

I am one of them. I’m starting to think about a new car and electric options intrigue me, but there’s just no way I’d drive a Tesla knowing I’d be supporting Elon. The fact that so many Tesla vehicles where I live have anti-Elon bumper stickers plastered on them and that he thinks he deserves another massive pay raise is insane.

Hoovooloo42 2025-10-26 16:22

At that price point they're competing with used cars. Fingers crossed for them because I want to see them succeed, but I don't have high hopes.

Specman9 2025-10-26 16:32

IMHO, Tesla Semi is dead in the water because we never built a network of MCS chargers. And there's NO WAY the Trump administration is going to help build such a charging network. So the only potential customers are those with point to point needs where they are willing to build chargers at their own sites WITH THEIR OWN MONEY. That is a niche market. And no, using the public DC fast-charger network is a non-starter because they cost like ~50¢ per KWH such that diesel trucks are then cheaper.

jiminuatron 2025-10-26 16:35

The pump is more important than the long term.

vxicepickxv 2025-10-26 16:40

It's insane how detached from reality Wall Street is.

[deleted] 2025-10-26 16:45

And then their stock will go up somehow

BringBackUsenet 2025-10-26 16:47

EVs are not practical for me (nowhere to charge them) but If was in the market, Tesla wouldn't even be in the running. They are overpriced, unsafe, and consistently rank near the bottom of quality rankings.

JEs4 2025-10-26 16:48

It isn’t cheap though. Both the new Bolt and the new Leaf start at roughly the same price and actually have features instead of things like.. manual crank windows. Slate is a few years too late. The legacy automakers are the real threat to Tesla. BMW in particular is probably stealing the largest share from Tesla.

JEs4 2025-10-26 16:49

The new Bolt and the Leaf cost the same, and they’re effectively loaded. The Slate is DOA.

Stellar_Impulse 2025-10-26 16:49

Well since theyre now a "robotics and AI" company, the car sales dont seem to matter as much

Glassgad818 2025-10-26 16:57

Nope. Tesla dept is only 13B while all other major car brands debts are 100-250 billion. So tesla on paper is the richest major car brand by a long shot. Wall Street is not dumb. Some people are just too lazy to do their paper work.

Ultraeasymoney 2025-10-26 17:00

Lightwave1241 2025-10-26 17:24

The genius is, in the long run, Tesla and Musk, tiring of the governmental influence, has handed the ICE manufacturers the keys to make the worst efficiency vehicles they can. As Gas Consumption rises from all these inefficient turds that they are designing now, where do you think that will leave Tesla? Tesla will be the Efficiency and total cost leader! As the Legacy Automakers gleefully trash their BEV Plans and shooting themselves in their own feet, Tesla will hold the high ground and consumer will be priced out by the total cost of ownership of these inefficient vehicles the Legacy Automakers are beginning to make, clearing the way for consumers to finally realize, Tesla is the way to go, not Chevy, Buick, Cadillac and GMC or Ford or Anything Stellantis or Toyota or Honda makes, as the Gasoline flows and the price at the pump, strangles the automotive buying public. Once that happens, People will want Tesla products including some who will be hailing Tesla Robotaxis as well as those who will buy or lease a new Tesla Car or SUV!

SolutionWarm6576 2025-10-26 17:32

They may not even be a car manufacturer in few years.

CunningWizard 2025-10-26 17:35

I’m always astounded when a fellow engineer buys one. Like “do you know anything about your field? If you did you wouldn’t go near one of these things”.

SolutionWarm6576 2025-10-26 17:37

That decision n the California DMV vs. Tesla, regarding misleading consumers on “FSD”, hasn’t come down. Possible recalls regarding door handles etc. possibly coming soon too. Could cost them billions alone right there.

Godammerwring72 2025-10-26 17:54

“Rank near bottom of quality rankings” nah https://www.motorfinity.uk/blog/ev-ice/#:~:text=While%20EVs%20demonstrate%20clear%20benefits,technology%20matures%20and%20infrastructure%20expands “unsafe” err, what? https://www.whatcar.com/news/how-safe-are-electric-cars/n25839 “not practical for me” can’t argue with that depends on location and charger coverage - here in the UK, certainly for most major cities, coverage is now excellent and tbh if you get an EV you will invariably have a home charger installed too

BringBackUsenet 2025-10-26 17:58

A home charger presumes a garage to put it in. I have no garage, and a lot of people live in apartments.

SarcasticOptimist 2025-10-26 18:09

Yep. Engineer here. After the Savage Geese review I'm buying Lucid instead. And the rivian r1 when I test drove it was basically a tank. Way too big for me but it was educational. Fighting the auto drive in a gfs Tesla told me everything about their software. It's violent. And the slightest deviation deactivates it. And knowing they turn it off right before collisions is extra scummy.

They've been a scam company ever since Felon took over. The only reason they pump out a few cars now and again is all a charade to keep the cattle interested.

Actually, except for the CT the cars are about the only cars that aren't fugly as hell these days, which is about the only good thing I'll say for them.

BringBackUsenet 2025-10-26 18:36

The problem with "fake it til you make it" is eventually is does have to be made, and most of his promises are just unrealistic if not impossible.

BringBackUsenet 2025-10-26 18:39

I actually like the simple elegance of the Slate over the fugly crap that most cars have been over the past 20+ years. I still think the price needs to come down a lot though.

mologav 2025-10-26 18:39

It’s so awkward in work, I have a rule to not talk about religion or politics at work and these gobshites come in comparing my electric Volvo to their Tesla..

BringBackUsenet 2025-10-26 18:41

It's cheaper than Tesla but it's still not cheap compared with a comparable ICE vehicle which has more standard features.

BringBackUsenet 2025-10-26 18:42

This is true, they are nothing but accomplices.

[deleted] 2025-10-26 18:42

U can't be naive enough to believe a CEO that threatening stockholders for 1 Trillions ( otherwise moving projects to xAI) actually give a fuck about the company. The financial institutions that lend money on Elon's share are to be fucked ultimately as the share becomes 0 value fairly quickly.

vxicepickxv 2025-10-26 18:48

That's detached from reality.

rocknroll2013 2025-10-26 19:02

I am part of that demographic. I have solar, drive an older electric car, will need a new one in a few years, and will never buy a combustion engine vehicle OR musk associated vehicle. Besides, my cousin has a Rivian and says positive things about it

Godammerwring72 2025-10-26 19:08

Some people live in apartments for sure but not the majority - tenements in the UK now often supply communal charging - and a home charger absolutely does not presume a garage installation. Not in the UK anyways and elsewhere? I guess that depends on extreme weather conditions which don’t apply to most of the UK. The wall charger isn’t like a standard domestic plug socket - they are designed to be fitted outdoors.

PrestigiousDrag7674 2025-10-26 19:15

BringBackUsenet 2025-10-26 19:17

Compared to most modern cars, it's not really bad. Now the Prius is really fugly!

FarceMultiplier 2025-10-26 19:23

I also remember when people screamed about "PEAK OIL!!!" in the 70s and 80s. There are plenty of other smaller, better, more efficient, and smarter EV manufacturers in the US and abroad. Tesla is a dying company, and their k-addict CEO is attempting to rip as much money out of the company as possible before they collapse under the weight of his ego and narcissism.

Grunge4U 2025-10-26 19:27

DC fast charging is still cheaper. Anyone who uses them has a plan. Cost on my area are as little as .24 cents per kw. Even at .50 cents it's still cheaper than gas or diesel

fastwriter- 2025-10-26 19:39

In Germany, most people live in rented Apartments. Good luck finding one with private parking in the first place and secondly a Landlord willing to invest in Wallboxes for every parking spot. So at least in Germany it’s mostly true: if you don’t own a House you will rarely have the Opportunity to charge at home.

fastwriter- 2025-10-26 19:40

But we will have to wait, if Slates business model works. At the moment they are still at the Elon stage: Much promises, nothing delivered.

fastwriter- 2025-10-26 19:42

But you always have to decouple the Trailer before charging at Stations that are built for Cars. This takes massive amounts out of Driving time and produces unneccessary cost.

DotJun 2025-10-26 19:45

That’s my point. Tesla has gotten years of subsidies and the legacy auto makers barely got a taste of it so they will have to spend their own money to make their ev line. In the end I think he did it on purpose. He got subsidies taken away, but more importantly, he got it taken away from legacy before they can ramp up.

Shane606 2025-10-26 19:50

Yes, this. Years ago when Tesla was, it, it genuinely felt like such a unique car that you could overlook the issues for because some of the benefits were so amazing (supercharging, “self” driving, quality) but now they don’t even control any of those factors on top of a CEO who supports a political view

ProdigalSheep 2025-10-26 19:56

I think Musk is going to fudge the numbers. He won’t be willing to admit the loss. He fired the Chief Revenue Officer and replaced him with himself, Elmo Musk. Reported sales figures cannot be trusted. He’s above the law and he knows it.

Sp1keSp1egel 2025-10-26 20:19

I believe the final verdict for the California DMV vs. Tesla is due at the end of this month?

Grunge4U 2025-10-26 20:20

I have a sticker on my E V that says "One Less Tesla" . I've had Tesla drivers compliment it but never complain. Most Tesla drivers are good people who were conned by Musk and are upside down on their cars with Tesla depreciation. When you see one with the new light bar on the front you know they're a piece of garbage who bought knowing who Musk really is.

Grunge4U 2025-10-26 20:23

Yeah, I wouldn't tow with an EV. The infrastructure isn't there yet.

BringBackUsenet 2025-10-26 21:00

torokunai 2025-10-26 21:07

I got my 2023 Model Y AWD for $40k OTD. It's fine for that price. After Ford/GM defected, NACS was and is a prerequisite since I greatly prefer that plug to the CCS-1 monstrosity, so in late 2023 it was a very short list of viable BEVs for me. I'm actually renting a Kia Niro EV from Hertz this week (if they actually have one for me) so I'll be able to compare the experience on a long drive.

pissoutmybutt 2025-10-26 21:56

henrik_se 2025-10-26 22:29

Meanwhile in Northern Europe: https://youtu.be/ODd4wpl946k?t=614 It's been amazing watching the charging networks being built out over the last couple of years, it's really taking off. In the video the guy and two buddies are convoying up from Southern Germany to Sweden in their electric semi trucks, fully loaded. They have three different trucks from three different manufacturers that are selling electric tucks right fucking now. They have specs and numbers and data, and the video shows the reality of driving an electric truck for work. They stop at charging stops belonging to completely different networks, with chargers from different manufacturers, and different layouts. At the point in the clip that I linked, he's pulling in to a Danish charging station that's layed out so that you don't have to unhook your trailer, you can just pull in and charge, you normally get an entire 400kW charger for yourself, and his truck is doing ~350kW. The future is happening, but it sure as fuck ain't happening in the US, and with the current administration, you're gonna slip even more. Oh, and note the complete absence of the "world leader" Tesla. They're so behind. Why are people even talking about their truck any longer?

Stellar_Impulse 2025-10-26 23:19

I agree, but it is genius when youre trying to prop up or maintain the stock price by smoke and mirrors. I think everybody knows its a shit company with its days numbered, but theres just too much money in it by big players so everyone agrees to play along.

AwesomeShikuwasa77 2025-10-26 23:27

In Q4, Elon will tell us a story about robots, diners and solar panels; Cathy will give an outrageous target and people will buy the stock. :) Fun aside: up to now, they don’t need funds, so they are not yet in deep s#%&.

terraphantm 2025-10-26 23:36

Yep. I used to have one but have moved on. I might consider them again if Elon is no longer in a position to profit from Tesla, but for now I’m happy with my non-Tesla EV.

Musk is about to lose ALL GOV’T CONTRACTS. DoD, Grok For Gov’t, GSA, SpaceX. Something is brewing attached to the activist shareholders, ISS STOXX, and Glass Lewis. Musk, Robyn Denholm, Cathie Wood; the heavy campaigning around the Tesla Shareholder Meeting, investment into xAI, and Musk’s $1T is not a sign of confidence, it’s desperation. Musk calling ISS and Glass “terrorists”, Denholm’s open letter on X, Wood proclaiming that “retail shareholders will ensure the passage of proposals”. All three know they cannot rely on BlackRock and Vanguard. Watch for what happens after November, 6. Class Action Lawsuits are going to be filed. A bombshell attached to a whistleblower that’s been successfully contained by the PTB. Musk’s empire is hanging on by a thread. Trust.

It’s wild how Musk keeps turning every financial loss into a narrative gain. Most CEOs would frame a $1.4B hit as a crisis, he reframes it as *investment in the future*. It’s part of why Tesla’s valuation behaves more like a tech company’s belief system than an automaker’s balance sheet. There’s a good breakdown of that pattern here if anyone’s interested in the logic behind it: [https://capitalfolly.com/tesla-at-the-crossroads/](https://capitalfolly.com/tesla-at-the-crossroads/)

Besides data mining , he wrecked the name of Tesla. He does not deserve to be paid for this.

Musk knows the Epstein files will never be released, but there had to be a show of opposition from Musk in an attempt to save his companies. SEIZE ALL MAGA PROPERTY AND ASSETS

"best car" for people who are "bad at cars." Terrible ride quality, lackluster interior (which people gloss over due to a big screen catching their eye) and awful QC.

It's almost as if the only actual fully self driving thing the company produces is its stock, lol.

Not sure he'll go that far, he's not stupid. He's a master at dancing around in the grey area of statements the market will deem positive yet aren't technically incorrect enough to warrant SEC action. Also didn't he have xAI and SpaceX buy a ton of cybertrucks?

The legacy automakers had a decade or more to jump into the market. They just didn’t have the vision, knowledge, or really understanding of EVs. You could walk into a Chevy dealership and they wouldn’t have the car charged. That’s basic sales skills not being taught by the automakers. Elon shat all over them for years, then lost his damn mind. I mean what else would you expect, unlimited money, drug habit and daddy issues.

Same with Meta and Apple actually. Also Reddit too.

I think there are many more things occurring than the tax credits. The subsidizing of the EV industry for years should have yielded technology that can be sold at market rates. I think we are seeing some of that now. Tesla does have the self driving feature which is very advanced compared to the nearest competitor. I think that compels people to buy Tesla if they can afford it since the feature can be added later if desired. But the high margins, courtesy of the taxpayers, may be in the past.

Tesla is a pyramid scheme from all the data I’ve read

Nothing another ten or twenty million can't take care of.
