They continue to blatantly lie to investors without any consequences. The constant delay of the expected delivery from 2019 to now 2026 is more than ridiculous. So many years of claiming to be ahead of the competition, based on a non-existent product and a fictitious price. It's unbelievable that they still get away with it.

Any idiot could see this years ago. Semis need regional and national service, repair, and delivery facilities. Tesla has none of these. This also disregards that few companies will buy it, particularly if resale value is garbage, and range is less than they forecasted.

Really stupid to invest into a Tractor-Trailer that only has one market. The US (maybe Canada). But this market is the least suited to EV Semi Trucks in the whole world. Why? Lax driving time regulations and long distances. So EV-Semi-Drivers will always need much more time for the same distance compared to an ICE Truck. Not so in Europe. European Truckers have to take a rest of 45 Minutes every 4 hours of driving. In these 4 hours, you realistically can drive 300 Kilometers (186 Miles). A distance every European EV Semi (and there are a lot of Models already on sale here) can achieve. While resting, you charge the Semi up so it can do the next 186 miles. The only caveat: there are not enough Truck Charging Stations along European Highways. At the Moment with the low adoption rate of EV Semis it’s not that big of a problem. But if the transition becomes widespread there will be enormous waiting times at the chargers potentially. Which would make ICE Semis much faster again. But in general, Europe, the potentially biggest market for EV Semis, is out of reach for Tesla. So they rely only on North America. Not enough to earn your investment back.

This was an interesting take. Both Volvo and Scania are putting out more EV trucks every year (one can really see a lot of them on the streets here in Sweden), but this would explain why it works so well here
The main problem is they're not economical. Most logistic businesses don't care about flashy middle seats or acceleration, they care about ROI. Frito Lay had massive subsidies to offset the risk of a trial run.
If they could demonstrate reliability and long term costs savings on energy I'm sure there'd be a market. Charging times and real world distance are two obvious potential problems.

The Mercedes eActross 600 is available NOW. Companies like daf, Volvo, Scania now feature true electric trucks now. The Tesla won’t make it and is impractical. No cabin, no bunk, and so on.

Daimler eActros can drive under European regulations 450 miles per day, same as any Diesel. And this with 1.5 kwh per mile and 42 metric tons. Volvo, Scania and Daimler deliver exactly that what Elon promised and never delivered. And before anyone talks about speed limits: in Spain you have the same limits as in California, all Test results of the Tesla semi are based on these. And the European manufacturers beat those.

The speed limit for Trucks is the same almost everywhere in Europe. But as I said, more than 200 Miles per charge are basically not necessary thanks to the regulations. In the US however, there is not such s strict time limit for driving, thus the range must be higher for it to make sense. But you are right: the legacy truck manufacturers silently delivered what Elon only has promised to this day. To bad most Americans have absolutely no clue what is happening in the rest of the world and still think Elon is a genius. But Teslas Solar Roofs went nowhere. In Europe we have a lot of Companies installing these day after day. The same with Teslas Power Wall. A lot of Americans think that Tesla is the first and only Manufacturer of Battery Storage for your home. Truth is: there are hundreds of Storage Manufacturers in China alone. They are cheaper and better. Tesla is all smoke and mirrors. Even their Cars can not compete anymore.
They just can't build a semi truck. You need that shit to be reliable as fuck because a truck that isn't rolling ain't making money. They struggle to make a decent car and the cyber truck is a rolling disaster.

Most of Europe it is 80 km/h, in Spain up to 90, the same as California with 55 mph while the weight there is 36 metric tons vs. 42 in Spain. And when you look up the youtube channel from Electrotrucker going through Spain with 1.5 kwh per mile, thats really a 1:1 replacement of Diesels.

The Tesla Semi doesn’t have an economic use case outside of hauling large quantities of things that weigh almost nothing, but can’t be compressed. It’s the reason Frito Lay uses their trucks, and pretty much no one else. If the American diet becomes mostly popcorn and potato chips, long calls on Tesla!

No trucking company would buy one. Companies like Pepsi wanting to virtue signal might pick some up for free or at massive discounts.
And it lacks most of the mirrors. I know it's probably full of cameras, but commercial grade cameras just aren't good enough yet to completely replace optics. There are a lot of these little things you don't think about if you haven't been making or driving trucks for a while. When I got to test drive a cabover semi recently (I had been writing software for one of the ECUs) I was just blown away by how much thought had been put into it's features. It had a tiny mirror just to watch your front bumper! The windows had a special mode that opened them just enough to hand over a clipboard. The stepladder had it's handles placed so that you could disembark at any angle even in tight spaces. Tesla is a car company, their foray into light trucks show they don't really have the institutional knowledge of what makes a good work vehicle. Their only advantage was batteries and chargers, without that they're chanceless against the normal truck companies.
All correct, except the Cameras. On Euro EV-Trucks they are very common because the reduce drag so much and increase Range. Even on Diesel-Semis you see them more often now. They work much better than Camera-Mirrors in Cars and a lot of Users love them. But I presume Tesla went the cheap way on their Semi-Cameras as well.

I'm kind of impressed that Trump hasn't publicly threatened Musk back in line with an investigation by the SEC. It would work quite well.
The captive European fleet operators plan distribution hubs to be less than 4hrs driving time apart so trucks are always either at depot or moving. Which in the EV world will have the benefit of allowing private depot charging. So the whole truck charging problem is overblown for all but long distance truckers, that will and do need to rely on public charge points. The real required demand for public ultra rapid truck charging is much lower than you would think. We’re doing an interesting project for one of the major UK supermarket groups, they’ve realised that it’s possible to use current generation EV trucks for all hub moves and all large store deliveries with no impact on fleet availability. Then because they are already a “high energy” user the price per kWh they pay for electricity is seriously cheap. Even after paying for much higher rental costs for a EV Mercedes or Scania the actual operating cost per mile is still lower. Small stores are a problem today due to lack of (7t to 10t) rigid trucks with enough battery capacity. However various manufacturers are promising to have this sorted with their next generation of rigid. Hub to Hub trunking will use on depot private chargers. Hub to store due to distance doesn’t even require chargers at the stores. Expect to see Mercedes lift and shift the eActros tech over to freightliner for a US truck in the next few years. Scania / Traton own Navistar and DAF is part of Paccar. The whole YouTube Bruce Wilson / European cabover Scania in the US is in part Traton trying to figure out if the US market is open to European cab-over’s. Scania USA helped massively in getting the truck imported and temporary use permits granted. Volvo of course have Volvo USA and own Mack. All these manufacturers will when the market is right roll the EV tech they have already productised for European and Asian customers over to the US market.

Possibly Mr. Musk is inspired by physics with theories about "dark matter" -- we can't see it, but we know it's there. SImilarly people mock Tesla for apparent lack of real value to justify its stock price. But if the Semi-Trucks have an invisibility mode, the robots and new products who's names we don't even know yet may be invisible too. What's needed is clear - a dark-matter adjusted (which is to say in invisibility adjusted) P/E ratio. None of us should despair for this not being immediately clear -- to us poor mortals. We can't all be Mr. Musk.
I live in Germany. We are the major transit Country for Goods. Our Highways are full of Trucks. At our Rest Stops Truckers often find no Parking Spaces even now. These are all Long Distance Haulers. Of course this will cause major Problems as there is not enough space to enlarge the Rest Stops to put Truck Mega Chargers there (Remember: The Truck Chargers use up much more space because they have to accomodate Truck and Trailer). It’s going to be difficult. Can it be done? Sure. But it will take time and a huge amount of money.

How many trucks do they have ?
Yeah long distance is different set of problems to short and intermediate distance. However baring a few edge cases like the youtuber "the electric trucker" most EV trucks are not today being used for really long distance runs. Remember roughly 60% of all European trucks are used by their operators on routes of less than 500km. Captive fleets with access to private depot or even on dock charging is where the volume is at currently. However long distance is still not a big as problem as you'd think. The consecutive rest period requirements of either 11 hours or a two periods of at least 3 and 9 hours provides options for using a longer slower charging window if the tractor unit and potentially trailer has enough capacity to work all day. The 9 hour period only requires relatively cheap 80 kW chargers for around 600kWh whilst the 3 hour period would work with 200kW to 250kW chargers. You'll find the truck stop operators will as the market develops create bays for rest charging, many have plans but the market isn't yet large enough for it to make economic sense.
You really underestimate the real world problems. Most german Rest Stops simply have no room for Expansion. So either you lose Parking Spaces which there already today are to few of. Or in the long run you have to demolish the Gas Stations. There will be a period where having enough available Charging Stations will be a real challenge.

The last two years I've rented EVs, and I've been completely blown away by how fast the charging networks are expanding. And it's not limited to one or two players, it feels like everyone and their grandma is putting up charging stations. Fucking *McDonald's* is putting up McDonald's-branded 400kW DC fast chargers at their rest stops! Every gas station along the main highway routes have charging stations now. Those highway routes have had dedicated truck stops since forever, and those are getting dedicated truck charging stations now like you can see in the video. And none of that is tied to a single company. It's all these different companies doing different parts, and it's all coming together pretty damn nicely. There's EV trucks, there's truck charging, there's truck rest stops, and trucking companies are switching over, while advertising that they're doing the switch. So it's just so fucking weird looking at Tesla, who is acting like they're the market leaders and that nothing is gonna happen until they "solve" the problem for all the stupid backwards dinosaurs or something. When in reality they're being left behind in the dust by everyone else.
