Best insurance company for Tesla (besides Tesla Insurance)

SkyTreeSF | 2025-10-23 20:30 | 23 views

I've used Tesla Insurance for some time now but keep reading mixed reviews on it. I'd prefer to switch to a larger nationwide company that has a great app/digital tools and good EV coverage, specifically for a Tesla. I'd also love it if the company offered usage-based and telemetric-based quotes. Thanks so much!

You want best service? Geico. Lots of representatives but pricey Avoid Allstate! You are not in good hands! Everything is through their shitty app. No representatives. Progressive kind of lame. They will jack up your price after 6 months. State Farm is so far ok for me cause they have a good price that you can pay monthly and they have local representatives at least for me.

Thank you so much for the details! I had already narrowed my choices down to State Farm, Geico and Allstate but it's good to know what you said about Allstate. I did use Geico many years ago for my non-EV but I hated their app and they were so expensive so I dropped it. I've been leaning towards State Farm for my Tesla because it seemed to have the best price and good coverage. The problem is that I can't see anything specific to Teslas or EVs on their websites. Have you ever had to file a claim?

Look for one that gives you a rental car for a loooooooong time...just in case you get in a fender bender.

I haven’t had to file a claim with my Tesla under State Farm and 🙏 that I never have make a claim again. I had two prior claims due to idiots hitting my car in the parking lot. Minor fender bender/paint scratch. Both were filed under the party at fault insurance when I was under progressive. Geico ezpz lemon squeezie. All state was absolutely horrible. Zero customer service/concern. Had to file the claim through their shitty ass app which they would low ball claim which ended up costing at least $1500 in repairs. Collision repairs shops warned me that Allstate takes forever to approve quotes and of course the shops are also busy that they have no time to call to get a quote approve with all state! I spent a month waiting and I would call once a week til I got fed up and continue to hound Allstate every day until I finally got someone to work with me and get my claim approved. Your experience may vary but i will never want to deal with all state ever again.

This is all very helpful in my research, thanks again! First-hand info is always the most reliable imo. I hope you never have to make a claim again too!
