From the author, 6 years ago: *“He is genuinely a human who cares deeply about other humans. That is an impression I got quickly in a super brief in-person meeting with him. Perhaps I was biased by feeling that was clear beforehand, but I think it’s interesting and revealing that that’s one of the top things that popped out to me in the brief meeting. His care for others comes out in even such a situation. I think it is also a top thing that critics misunderstand about him, and I genuinely can’t understand how they miss it when it’s such a core part of who Elon is. Additionally, I think it’s just clear that he’s a ‘man of the people.’ Some big-time corporate CEOs may try to put on a ‘man of the people’ or ‘woman of the people’ look from time to time for PR purposes, but I think Elon can’t even fake it in the other direction — he’s down to earth (ironically) in his interactions and person-to-person interests, open and caring, candid, and I think just wants to show he’s happy to be your buddy, if you’re not a douche.”* —Zach Shahan Now he's upset TSLA didn't "accelerate the transition" to anything except Musk's wealth: *"Now, who is to blame for the fuel economy standards getting wiped out, the loss of regulatory credits, the loss of the US EV tax credit"* The guy has been licking Elon's boots clean for years, and now he's shocked that Elon just curb stomped him.

Wow, that Zach is naive.

Wow. This is the guy who destroyed USAID, resulting in a massive amount of worldwide death and suffering. Nice call Zach!

Lacrewpandora 2025-10-23 13:50

Never meet your heros...

GhostofBreadDragons 2025-10-23 13:58

That is a humiliation kink if I have ever seen one

[deleted] 2025-10-23 14:43

Ohh man, let's give the credit to the guy who has been stealing all of it for 13 years while saying his next breakthrough is a year away but it never happens.

To clarify, Zach used to have a disclosure at the end of his articles that mentioned his investments. TSLA was at the top of that list, but he certainly invested in other auto companies and green tech companies. That disclosure now seems to have been removed. Maybe he still owns Tesla stock... maybe like many other EV bloggers he finally sold his investment after Musk's fascist pivot and as a result is now willing to be more honest in his coverage. While journalists trading stock in the companies they're covering news on is generally a conflict of interest and an insult to journalistic integrity and ethics... since nearly every single EV news blogger was investing in Tesla and not disclosing it... I guess Zach got one less negative point than others.. but still negative. The removal of that disclosure is pretty lame. Does he still own his Tesla stock or not? No one knows! Meanwhile.... Electrek's Fred (editor in chief and writer) and Seth (owner and writer) were also heavy investors in Tesla and recipients of as much as $1 million in Tesla referral rewards combined. I don't know about Seth, but Fred sold all his stock last year. Since then, the entire blog has generally turned ... some might call it negative ... some might call it more critically honest about Musk/Tesla, whereas previously it was nothing more than a Tesla stock pumping blog that always tried to give the benefit of the doubt to Musk/Tesla. And it's not just Fred, but all of the authors on that site have suddenly gotten very critical of Musk/Tesla. It had been building up prior to Fred selling his stock, but after... I mean, the change is noticeable. It really shows how much a journalist owning stock in a company they're covering can bias their viewpoint. I used to comment there years back, one of the rare voices of truth and dissent against a legion of Tesla stock traders / fanatics who believed Musk/Tesla could do no wrong, were going to take over/save the world, and Musk was a genius saint. (In other words, a bunch of people trying to get rich off the stock) Electrek's management would ban people from calling out the writers for giving bad/biased information and their financial conflicts of interest. Many of the things I was saying years ago, the writers on that site have finally started to say today... with hindsight being 20/20 and their financial biases gone. It's like they all took off their Tesla covered glasses. Fun story. When I commented there, it was known that Electrek seemed to get an inordinate amount of leaked Tesla information before any other publication. I used to suggest that it seemed like Elon Musk himself may be leaking the information. Fred used to play off his interactions with Musk as only being on Twitter. Yet, funny enough, Fred recently showed evidence that he was having direct text message conversations with Musk around that time. In other words, while Elon Musk used to complain about constant leaks, it's almost a certainty that Elon Musk himself was the leaker. Like any good conservative, Musk had a strong projection game. These leaks of course were almost always positive for the company. At one point, after Fred had put out a few critical articles about Tesla (albeit truthful), Musk turned against Fred publicly by calling him out on Twitter, like the big socially inept baby he is who thinks social media is for airing one's dirty laundry. Inside EVs, meanwhile, suggested that their direct staff were not allowed to trade stock in the companies they were covering. I found out that this only pertained to "direct" staff... not the army of contract writers they had pushing non-stop Tesla articles. Go figure. Soon after, Inside EVs was bought out and changed management, so what their rules are with regards to stock trading is anyone's guess. \_\_\_\_\_\_ You can add it all up... just website after website after website... and youtube channel after youtube channel after youtube channel... and reddit sub after reddit sub after reddit sub... of legions of investors whose primary goal has been to push positive propaganda about Musk/Tesla and boost the share price. It seems most of that pro-Tesla propaganda structure may now finally be gone or dying on account of Musk's fascist/nazi pivot. Don't get me wrong... Tesla still has legions of cultists who will argue tooth and nail that Elon Musk did not in fact give two blatant nazi salutes during his speech at Trump's latest inauguration rally.

Speeder172 2025-10-23 15:13

O/

Trades46 2025-10-23 15:31

Cleantechnica shadowbanned me years ago which actually led me to this very sub. Zach deserves every backlash he gets and more.

EarthConservation 2025-10-23 15:37

[WATCH: Elon Musk appears to give fascist salute during Trump inauguration celebration (Youtube - PBS News Hour)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VfYjPzj1Xw) Yes, they're trying to say these two blatant nazi salutes weren't actually nazi salutes.. that our eyes and our common sense is deceiving us: Also deceiving us is Musk's... * prior history of making blatantly anti-Semitic statements by pushing Jewish conspiracy theories, for which he admitted and then opted to go on a Jewish apology tour. * unbanning/platforming of far right neo-nazis and fascists from Twitter (after he bought it), some of which had been banned for pushing misinformation / disinformation / hate speech. * follow up to the nazi salutes, the day after, where he made a bunch of nazi jokes on twitter. * pro-fascist / racist / xenophobic / ultra nationalistic speech to a fascist neo-nazi group in Germany that told people they should no longer take responsibility for the horrors their nation committed during the Holocaust. This speech was given a week after his nazi salutes. * a speech to a far right group in the UK and prior support for far-right hate driven riots * re-tweeting an apologist statement for Hitler and other fascist strong men who committed mass murder that blamed the public sector workers instead of the leaders, which happened a few weeks after his nazi salutes * massive campaign funding of a fascist wannabe authoritarian dictator in the US who could very well put an end to our Democracy and the Constitution... * his recent proclamation of wanting to control an army of a billion humanoid robots... Yep... let's just pretend none of that actually happened either. Bearing all of this in mind, Tesla likely sold a new record number of vehicles in the US in Q3, and a huge chunk of people are still holding onto the stock (including hedge funds and pension funds)... financially supporting a wannabe nazi.

TechnicianExtreme200 2025-10-23 16:12

I kinda get how Elon can con people into believing his sci-fi fever dreams, but it boggles the mind that people just instantly believe that he's a good person. Like, why would one assume that about ANY billionaire, let alone one who fell from THAT apple tree

LightMission4937 2025-10-23 16:23

Musk. That's all.

y4udothistome 2025-10-23 16:31

Jim Carrey said it best! it was meeee

Lacrewpandora 2025-10-23 16:44

I've thought about this in broader terms than just Musk. For some reason, people yearn for a "hero". Be it has been British royals or vacuous celebrities, we seem to yearn for a leader of sorts - and instantly believe the public facing facade of these people. IMHO, politicians and celebrities are especially skilled at capitalizing on this trait. I think Musk added a genius spin to it though. To most people, our built world is practically magic - people have no idea how the hell computers, cell phones, cars, etc. actually work. So Musk comes along spouting techno-jargon and repeatable "tech-bro talking points" - always in terms of "saving the earth" or "saving humanity", and all of the sudden he's got legions of schmucks talking about S-curves and refering to him with the too familiar first name..."Elon says this...Elon is building that"...followed by messianic prophecies: "Elon will save us from extinction by colonizing Mars". He's become their tech-buddy and practical saviour. When I sit back and watch, I do have to admire the grift.

DrXaos 2025-10-23 17:08

Musk got significantly worse after 2020. Long covid and drugs are bad mkay?

Lacrewpandora 2025-10-23 17:31

I dunno...IIRC, he was selling fake FSD to customers and pitching fake solar city "synergies" looooong before 2020. Hell the fake Flying Roadster and Pedo-Gate ore-date Covid too.

[deleted] 2025-10-23 17:42

Perhaps the drug addict fascist maga CEO could shed some light on it... Whenever he's done cheating at videogames and tweeting from the shitter... Just before the next waves of clueless firings and picking fights with people smarter than him. After all he KNOWS MORE THAN ANYONE ALIVE...** Hhmhmm (**About committing investors fraud and suckling on government handouts)

OutlandishnessOk3310 2025-10-23 18:04

Sales up because they are giving the things away. That moron expects to be paid $1trillion to build a robot army. And the share price is up. I've give up shorting tesla financially, but in my heart....

Celica88 2025-10-23 18:27

Maybe the real deep state were the friends we made along the way.

musing_codger 2025-10-23 22:09

What are you talking about? Within a year, maybe less, they're going to release alchemist robots that can convert lead into gold. Have you seen the price of gold lately? Given that kind of upside, their stock is way underpriced.

hypercomms2001 2025-10-23 23:49

The fuck wit that once a $1 trillion payout….

[deleted] 2025-10-24 00:28

Is that the Zach whose been eating corn out of Elon’s ass on twitter for who knows how long

[deleted] 2025-10-24 00:30

I met Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle while they were hiding in a comedy club kitchen.  My heroes definitely did not want to meet me

_Captain_Amazing_ 2025-10-24 00:38

Rhymes with felon.

egowritingcheques 2025-10-24 05:37

Shareholders mostly are to blame. Their financials looks fine for a $15/share company.

DistributedView 2025-10-24 06:44

The board. They have been complicit in authorizing a series of share grants linked to game-able milestones. None of these milestones had anything to do with building the foundations of a sustainable business (e.g. ongoing model roadmaps, staff retention, reduction in carbon credit reliance, .... )

SeveralPrinciple5 2025-10-25 12:55

Woke mind virus

Vegetable_Guest_8584 2025-10-27 21:19

That's disappointing but I'm sure it's a "can't sue me, bro" idea that some stupid lawyer thought was a good idea.

Vegetable_Guest_8584 2025-10-27 21:28
