Another pointless update

ircsmith | 2025-10-21 19:11 | 52 views

Got another update last night. Never pay much attention because on HW3 they really do nothing. However, this time I noticed there was an option to mute navigation. I always have Nav running on my commute in case a problem on my route come up and I can change to avoid it. I don't need voice direction. I already know the way and I can see if there is a problem on the screen. Now I can mute it! Fantastic! Problem is I have to change the function of my left scroll wheel and I don't want to. years ago I could just left scroll down while Nav was talking to mute, but Tesla took that away, Why? Just put it back the way it was and stop changing things just for the sake of changing something. I will never again buy a car with over air updates.

The scroll wheels are being used more frequently with Grok (Long Left scroll wheel press, Tesla Speech Command (Left scroll wheel press), Volume Music (Up and Down). I can see why you feel like why remove something that is used similar to music control. My guess is that people complained or interface got cluttered with scroll wheels options.

So… it *doesn’t* just keep getting better?

I've had my nav muted for years?

manx203 2025-10-21 23:48

I think I’ve heard my nav maybe twice in 5 years

SupermarketOne948 2025-10-22 00:10

For at least a year I’ve been successfully saying the voice commands “Mute navigation volume” and “Unmute navigation volume”. Try it!

ircsmith 2025-10-22 02:25

Zero voice commands have worked for me.

ircsmith 2025-10-22 02:25

congratulations

You can mute it in the nav settings. Simple toggle. Been that way for years now.

Dry-Pea1733 2025-10-22 05:38

Wait, Nav talks?

They sell OTA updates as a plus but what it really means is they will push an incomplete product and hope to finish it ... eventually.

I can’t figure out what to say to save dashcam clips now that doesn’t involve pressing the camera on the screen. “Save that” command used to work

Hoppel13 2025-10-22 21:12

You’re not wrong. But also they added some cool shit in the 6 years I had the car.

You have to use the activation code "heil hitler", so it knows you're one of the "good ones". [edit: this is obviously a mockery of Elon, no one report me]

Record works for me

Another pointless post

Man such a hard life.

No_Pen8240 2025-10-23 17:07

OTA updates . . . This was really good, but over time the updates have been less and less exciting.

Better_Ear_6614 2025-10-23 22:35

Mine has never talked navigation

They also use it to push advertising now. My Model Y was just updated a few days ago, to add an option to use "Tron" theme. I wonder who much the studio is paying Tesla for the advertisment.

External-Note-2719 2025-10-25 03:46

It all seems very desperate to me.

ircsmith 2025-10-25 06:09

Desperate? On Tesla's part?

External-Note-2719 2025-10-25 12:36

Yes, Elon, in particular, the headlines around Tesla are attempting to create some type of positivity, but the negatives are just too paramount. Did u see the recall on the 10s of thousands of cyber trucks? It's bad the numbers were not exceptional, and it goes on and on
