You can pull that manual release lever all you want, the pressure of the water against the car door will prevent you from opening it. You can’t open a car door under water until the pressure equalizes on both sides. The average person doesn’t know that or think about that in a moment of panic. If you live near water, carry an emergency hammer in the car with you at all times so that you can break a window and let the pressure equalize faster, so that you can get out. Rogan said it about the schoolteacher talking about the litter boxes in classrooms, he either pretended or convinced himself that it was actually someone he knew who had told him the story instead of it just being a Facebook meme he saw and that fit his own internal narrative and worldview so well that he couldn’t even engage with it logically to think that it might be a fabrication or think that maybe it was misrepresented or exaggerated in some way potentially. I think I know his train of thought. Not that I agree with it, but it seems to me he is ok with casualties as long as they help with the progression of technology. He sees the Tesla passenger fatalities as being for the greater good because the data helps make the tech better in the long run. He sees no progression or advancement from an untrained trucker accident. If it were an autonomous truck, he would probably have a different viewpoint.
