> Tesla has received reports of Powerwall 2 units with the affected battery cells smoking or emitting flames, resulting in minor property damage. Sounds like they are recalling certain Powerwall units that could catch fire and cause minor damage, like your house burning down.

That’s it? Nothing to bat an eye at! /s

over the air fix

LostDefinition4810 2025-09-17 04:21

Ofc. Just turns it off permanently. No more electricity means no more fire.

NtheLegend 2025-09-17 04:34

You know what that means? Stock: 🚀📈🌕

shiroandae 2025-09-17 04:38

So only +2% now, because nothing they actually earn any money with has any impact on their value.

iftlatlw 2025-09-17 04:39

Just gently squeeze the steering wheel and guide the flames away.

Icy-person666 2025-09-17 05:57

That should drive the stock up at least 10% in tomorrow's trading.

Thats a danger not only with Teslas Powerwall (even if I trust Tesla less than any other manufacturer) but with every Li-Ion-Battery storage. They can go up in Flames and if they do, the Homeowner can do nothing to extinguish them. So personally, I would never install a Battery storage inside my House. I would put it in a Garden Shed or something.

sambull 2025-09-17 06:33

Stocks up on news we may burn houses down

OkPie8905 2025-09-17 06:52

Lithium ion thermal runaway is a real thing https://youtu.be/3PHbIaT-TtM?si=-RSByLxzgOEehJXR

Typically cars use Li-ion now for the immediate burst of power they need. Most home storage batteries have gone to LifePo4 chemistry which is significantly safer than Li-ion chemistry.

Didnt you know a Tesla fire doesn't spread.

Far_Addition1210 2025-09-17 08:07

Wasn't he saying they had delivered over a million of these the other day. Thats a big recall number.

Far_Addition1210 2025-09-17 08:22

I didnt know that Tesla could override your personal use, that means they can turn your power on and off whenever they want......I wouldnt like that.

Far_Addition1210 2025-09-17 08:37

Sinking now though.

Alarming_Jacket3876 2025-09-17 08:39

His stock purchase definitely not a distraction. 1 billion as a percentage of 1 trillion pay package. About like you or me buying a candy bar... Before Trump flation sent the price of a king size to $4¡

SolutionWarm6576 2025-09-17 09:53

Bullish!!!

DotJun 2025-09-17 10:09

It’s not just Tesla, but the inverter company as well. They also cannot turn off your grid power remotely, only battery and/or solar.

bassbeatsbanging 2025-09-17 10:26

I follow a lot of consumer advocacy sites and subreddits, and power banks for cell phones and laptops have to be the most commonly recalled product. There's almost always at least one per month. It's insane. And they very often caused actual fires to trigger said recall.

CRXCRZ 2025-09-17 10:52

A day in the life of people who own Tesla products.

sagetraveler 2025-09-17 11:02

Recall now eliminates future liabilities. Stock go brrrrr.

GarysCrispLettuce 2025-09-17 12:20

Does anyone have a running total of how many innocent people Elon Musk has burned alive so far

theansweristhebike 2025-09-17 12:59

Soon you can buy an Optimus humanoid robot to guard your house, even put out occasional fires.

Lacrewpandora 2025-09-17 13:24

I can't be sure - what color was the smoke?

Big_footed_hobbit 2025-09-17 13:55

So you survived your commute via “supervised pilot” only to be immolated by your Cyber Wall.

Far_Addition1210 2025-09-17 14:26

Tesla has been discharging US batteries too.

Crepuscular_Tex 2025-09-17 14:42

Divert govt rocket money to inflate stock price. Stock go zoom zoom.

dtyamada 2025-09-17 15:47

If the house burns down that means they have to purchase a new one!

sambull 2025-09-17 15:49

Now that's being a job creator

danielbot 2025-09-17 20:07

Powerwall 2 uses NMC cells, an insane design decision in view of the dramatically greater fire risk, the only benefit being the lighter weight, which is not important for a stationary installation. I suppose the justification for this was, they had a factory to produce NMC cells and no factory for LFP. Now Powerwall 3 uses LFP, and Tesla has a new problem: it doesn't take all that much engineering to design a LFP storage system, so the barrier to entry is low. Which will prevent Tesla from enjoying the huge margins that would be required to sustain their ongoing stock scam.

testsubject1137 2025-09-17 21:59

They have a SIM card in them. You could theoretically remove it and block it from accessing the internet via your home network firewall, but I bet there is some sort of clause in the warranty that says they must be internet connected or it's void.

According to this article that’s linked, Tesla received some reports of powerwall fires in Australia. Tesla determined there is a risk they can fail and overheat, leading to fire, so they have disabled most of the units but they need to be replaced. A more recent article says they are also recalling them in the U.S as they have the same fire risk. This makes sense, since they are all made in the same factory. It specifically affects units made at a certain time I think.
