~~This is the case where they were offered 60m$ to settle. They went to trial instead and jury hit them with 242m$ in punitive damages.~~ ~~Whatever they settled for wasn't small amount of money. I seriously doubt it was anywhere close to previous 60m.~~ Edit: This is a different case, I was wrong.

Still not enough to stop them from endagering innocent people by testing their software on public roads.

I think this is another one. The one that went to trial and the lost, was out of Florida I believe. Tesla settles a lot of these. Think multiple wrongful death lawsuits too.

Which one? Hasn’t there been like 59 autopilot / full self cruise control deaths so far?

It appears to be a different case, the $240 million in punitive damages was related to a crash in Florida, whereas this one involves the death of a teenager in California.

Yeah, I double checked and you're right.

Drive our cars and if you die, we will payout. Tesla insurance.

Well that’s too bad… this was the case the lawyer mentioned where he was going for a ten-figure judgement.

The one in Gardenia was infuriating. The moron using AP on the freeway did not notice the freeway ended and became a surface street. Lulled into false sense of complacency, this asshole ignored a series of giant 15 ft wide overhead signs with flashing lights, signal ahead signage, and reduced speed limit signage over a period of over 1/4 mile - and killed 2 people. This was reported as "The Tesla crashed as it exited the freeway", and at the time AP did not take exits. Thus the faithful flock shouted down the news as F-U-D and fake. Even when I pointed out it absolutely was AP/driver error, shoulders were shrugged and Branch Elonians played dumb - as if they'd never heard of a freeway transitioning to a surface street. They Tesplained to me I was wrong, and TSLA would neeeeeeeever be held liable. Yet here we are. Sadly, two innocent peopl eare still dead, though.

california has a lot of fucked up highways. i remember getting lost in LA and my freeway just ENDED into downtown. like gee thanks thats useful traffic wise. and then driving in a circle to try to reconnect with the freeway, i found the foo chow restaurant from the RUSH HOUR jackie chan film i just watched in the theater prior to driving around. good food. still had squib bullet holes in the walls from filming :D [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5inTCUFg004](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5inTCUFg004) thats wild its still there. [https://maps.app.goo.gl/rM1v4irbiWrFLckb8](https://maps.app.goo.gl/rM1v4irbiWrFLckb8) strange though looking at the map i cant what freeway i was on. maybe wrong lanes on 110? it felt like one hwy went left, one went right and my 2 lanes in the middle went into surface traffic.

Unfortunately, a lot of the people killed and receiving settlements are not the Tesla drivers.
