Car sales in Europe: Which brands are rising and falling?

Tesla’s car sales in Europe fell 40.2% year-on-year, cutting its market share to 0.7% from 1.3%. FAFO.

Another pro-chinese Article totally ignoring the strong sales increase from companies like Ford, Skoda, VW, all adding more market share than BYD. Or the decline of chinese-owned MG, Volvo and Smart.

What the fuck is this incessant pitting of Tesla versus the BYD?! The reality is that both are utterly minor players, as evidenced by a market share under 2 percent. And in the EV world alone, European makers are selling several times more, if not an order of magnitude more, than either.

BYD are making a profit on their vehicles as I understand it, many Eu makers aren't.

I didn't check sales, but I am seeing more and more Renault R5 on the roads. And compact cars like this might be able to find a comfortable market niche for themselves. Some people are getting tired of cars getting bigger, be it EV, internal combustion or PHEV.

Love me those headlines with 'LOOK AT THE BYD GAINS IN EUROPE, THEYRE TAKING OVER'. yeah well, its easy to have giant growth when they sold very little last year. They only started in Europe two years ago really which imo is already a bit late, MG had already been in Europe two years prior and therefore been more successful, although ofc they are currently stagnating in Europe, even in a small decline as you said. BYD so far hasnt been too successful in Europe. Yes theyre flooding the market but thats not necessarily a recipe for long term success. They made themselves the goal of selling 50k cars in Germany this year and by the end of july it was about 7,5k. Other than BYD, none of the Chinese are really in a good position. Nio also tried as early as MG and failed miserably so far. And the elephant in the room ofc is that a lot of BYD gains are thanks to them starting to sell hybrids and not pure EVs, so when you see these statistics, youve got to keep in mind wether its an EV exclusive or all car statistic

Time after time, I see these "BYD vs Tesla in Europe" articles, while both are minor EV players (Tesla became one and BYD didn't hit mainstream yet). If there is "X vs Y in Europe", it's not them.

Yup, poor Citroën and Peogeot ended up in a weird team.

I mean, they are the root cause. Peugeot is kind of leading Stellantis and they equipped Puretech on all vehicles from all brands.

Citroën is a historic and innovative automaker. I feel Stellantis is hampering them.
