Optimus sales: $0. Great pivot.

BallsHardest 2025-09-12 10:59

Investors aren't questioning shit. They're throwing money into the meme stock casino because nothing matters anymore.

gwenver 2025-09-12 11:01

Yeh, not much evidence of investors questioning anything.

Theferael_me 2025-09-12 11:18

The only thing 'investors' are questioning is where the next pump is coming from. Answer: robots.

hobbbis 2025-09-12 11:22

quite the contrary actually

readit145 2025-09-12 11:28

The real title “Tesla makes another new claim to stop investors from collapsing everyone’s retirement accounts and admitting they made a mistake”

habfranco 2025-09-12 11:29

I’m pretty sure there are very few people actually directly buying Tesla shares and are delta positive. Institutional investors are very few compared to other large caps. Most of the shares are held through index funds, 401K, etc. Then there are the ones owning shares and selling covered calls, which has been very lucrative for them. Still I doubt there are many people/institutions who are owning Tesla shares for just “buying and holding”.

peakedtooearly 2025-09-12 11:30

It's enough to fool the average Tesla investor!

dextercho83 2025-09-12 11:32

Wait, now investors are questioning sales and valuation? Shouldn't they done that... oh I don't know and Elon became a Nazi

Master_Grape5931 2025-09-12 11:33

It will be eleventy billion by 2026!

GiveMeSomeShu-gar 2025-09-12 11:34

They are years and years from shipping a robot, too. Plus it will be a crowded space by that point, with no reason to expect Tesla will be a market or technology leader in that space.

Spottswoodeforgod 2025-09-12 11:41

If you think the Deplorian and Robotaxis are a bit shit, just wait until you check out Optimus…

missionalbatrossy 2025-09-12 11:49

In the future they’ll be able to walk faster

Status_Ad_4405 2025-09-12 12:02

It's already crystal clear that other companies are way ahead in robots

cantusethatname 2025-09-12 12:05

It’s funny that memelon thinks he can thrive on robots. Transportation is a necessity, a personal robot is not so it would be a better bet to do what a real engineer would do, roll up his sleeves and improve his product line. He could study the Japanese and Chinese car manufacturers for some hints.

RangerRick4971 2025-09-12 12:12

No, I’m pretty sure they’ll be coming out in 6 months.

Icy-person666 2025-09-12 12:14

Real title "insert clickbate title here".

-Lorne-Malvo- 2025-09-12 12:22

And serve popcorn. Never forget the popcorn

missionalbatrossy 2025-09-12 12:22

But you have to give them some space and be patient

this_one_has_to_work 2025-09-12 12:27

Pumps and promises breakthroughs on futuristic technology, under delivers. Repeat.

mishap1 2025-09-12 12:29

Was going to say some of the robots sold some popcorn but then I checked and it appears it was free. Don't think they figured out commerce with it yet.

GiveMeSomeShu-gar 2025-09-12 12:39

Yeah you're probably right... The feature set for v1 will be: * offering to walk with you to a kitchen so you can see if there is a Coke there

dsdvbguutres 2025-09-12 13:04

Look! Robot!

dtyamada 2025-09-12 13:09

It's like they haven't been paying attention to all the other big companies that got into and out of human robotics in the last 20 years. But somehow Tesla is gonna be different even though they are at least two decades behind.

GongShowLoss 2025-09-12 13:10

I disagree. Elon has created a cult of personality around him, with a small but loyal fanbase who buy anything Elon, including his dangerous cars and overvalued stock.

bpm6666 2025-09-12 13:12

If you wanna have FSD in 2026 you have to buy a Optimus, who will drive you around

[deleted] 2025-09-12 13:14

foo-bar-25 2025-09-12 13:17

Smells like desperation

TacohTuesday 2025-09-12 13:20

Tesla can do whatever stupid shit they want. I made my money on TSLA and got the hell out a long time ago. Not touching them with a ten foot pole now.

REOreddit 2025-09-12 13:30

Makes sense. Humans drive with their eyes inside the car, far from the windows. A vehicle that has cameras situated on the outer parts shouldn't be necessary. In fact, one could argue that only two cameras on the head of a robot, both pointing in the same direction, is much better than having a 360 degree camera system, the same way that a camera-only setup is way better than cameras + lidar + radar. If one was part of a cult, that is.

tinglySensation 2025-09-12 13:42

Yes, but when it comes out it will have Fully Autonomous Operation! You know, just like Full Self Driving.

donttakerhisthewrong 2025-09-12 13:57

What happened to the 50,000 semis by the end of the year.

ionizing_chicanery 2025-09-12 14:07

What I don't get is why the FSD true believers are celebrating Optimus. You'd think they'd be unhappy about Tesla diverting substantial resources away from getting FSD right to developing something where they're woefully behind and have no competitive advantage whatsoever even on paper.

ionizing_chicanery 2025-09-12 14:21

There might be a lot of index ownership of this stock but that's not what's driving its extreme valuation or volatility. Index funds are going to follow the market by definition, they're not making speculative trades or setting targets. It's hard to tell how much the price is following analyst targets vs the other way around but there's clearly an institutional consensus in supporting this valuation. That's despite there being no possible qualitative justification for the numbers. Five year PEG is nearly 6.58, they're betting big on something they don't even expect to actually be justified by their own growth targets, at least not any time remotely soon.

OldNewbie616 2025-09-12 14:33

Can’t reach $9T valuation by selling semis. PACCAR is worth $0.05T

Engunnear 2025-09-12 14:43

Hey, that’s not fair! It can *totally* fold a shirt if you slap on your motion capture gloves and show it how…

Engunnear 2025-09-12 14:43

They’re demonstrating life in a post-scarcity society.

DNuttnutt 2025-09-12 14:48

Meh, there’s tons of people like myself that have pulled out of it entirely just because we don’t want to support anything tied to musk anymore. There’s people that pulled out because none of the numbers make sense. There’s also, tons of people that have bought in because he was trumps right hand for a minute and he’s too big to fail. At this point though it’s just a meme stock that he keeps using to pay himself so he can feel like a big boy because has all the moneys. The cars will keep failing. BYD will take over all foreign markets. Autonomous driving will never happen, also waymo is already there. There multiple robot companies that are at production. I believe the cheapest is for around 5k. I would still like to give these companies a couple years.

FutureBiotechVenture 2025-09-12 14:53

Fooled me. Down significantly on TSLZ since early July. GRRRRR damn Nazi investors.

thatmanjay 2025-09-12 14:55

Got to sell the next grift. Nobody wants that geriatric robot. Thing walks like it has a walker attached to it.

pzerr 2025-09-12 14:59

Crowed space???? Much more experienced companies have been creating robots for 40 years.

Chance_Airline_4861 2025-09-12 15:34

I got in when it went up on that terrible q1 report. I know its gonna break that old high. Zero doubts, all we need is more nonsense

ChollyWheels 2025-09-12 15:35

After a million, billion, and trillion comes quadrillion

ChollyWheels 2025-09-12 15:38

Insufficient thought has been given to the fact the robots, as portrayed, are genderless. Will the robots be able to choose? Full self gender. Another first.

NotYourAvgBoomer 2025-09-12 16:00

As long as you sell with profit, ok

khinkali 2025-09-12 16:00

Went and bought some puts. TSLA market cap climbs $130 billion in two days because sales are crashing(?). Fucking wrecked. For reference, BYD market cap is about $130 billion.

Bibblegead1412 2025-09-12 16:10

FSR- full self roboting

Master_Grape5931 2025-09-12 16:21

Sir, this is a Wendy’s.

b-side61 2025-09-12 16:31

What's next when robots don't work out? Teleportation maybe. Are there any inventors out there already working on inventing teleportation that Elon could buy and take credit for?

b-side61 2025-09-12 16:33

Cars are soooo 20th century. In the future robots will take the trips for you. No need to ever leave home.

[deleted] 2025-09-12 16:43

Robots with mannequin hands are gonna sell like hotcakes.

EntropyAccount 2025-09-12 16:48

Not negative. Bullish!

EntropyAccount 2025-09-12 16:56

I’m old enough to remember when MS assigned a 300B valuation to Dojo… is Dojo in the room with us? All the talk about FSD “next year” for 11 yrs. Meh. Robots Shobots. Won’t ever touch this stock, on either side. There’s plenty of alpha out there. Literally Google went from 150 to 240 in short order.

Key-Beginning-2201 2025-09-12 16:58

They might sell a few, make a big show, to pump the stock.

ircsmith 2025-09-12 17:16

And for my next smoke and mirror show....ROBOTS! By next year one will be able to swim you to Hawaii!

That-Whereas3367 2025-09-12 18:00

Pivot = more Musk BS.

rolingua 2025-09-12 18:06

Keep buying! I just bought another handful. It is really cheap at .95

Monoshirt 2025-09-12 18:13

Please please please put the stupid robots on sale. We may finally see Tesla's stocks be what they are worth when the naked emperor's shriveled penis is right in front of every stockholder's eyes.

That-Whereas3367 2025-09-12 18:15

If he did real engineering Tesla would be a $20B company with no cash because it would all be spent on R&D and spare parts inventory. Elmo would be bankrupt because his debts would exceed his 7% share of the company.

zedk47 2025-09-12 18:16

The thing is, no need for FSD when you can ask your Optimus to go do your groceries, right?

That-Whereas3367 2025-09-12 18:18

Tesla had no money, no product and didn't even own the Tesla trademark when Musk arrived. That's why the judge said he was a co-founder.

Randsomacz 2025-09-12 18:43

(Supervised)

BadJuJu25 2025-09-12 18:58

If people aren’t buying your cars because you’re a Nazi why will they buy your robots?

RangerRick4971 2025-09-12 19:21

Meaning a safety officer inside the suit.

FutureBiotechVenture 2025-09-12 19:22

I can "afford" to lose some of it as I'm in my 40s and not in debt. but FML these nazi fucks

StellarJayZ 2025-09-12 19:24

*Slowly* walk you to a kitchen.

chitoatx 2025-09-12 19:27

True! “Tesla is transferring learnings from FSD training (data from cameras, neural net training, etc.) to Optimus. For example, recently they shifted Optimus’s training more towards camera-only (vision) data, which mimics the approach for FSD.”

Martin8412 2025-09-12 19:43

That means they’re pre-revenue which means their growth potential is massive

kveggie1 2025-09-12 19:45

and their robots are already 10 years behind the competition. Tesla has zero installed base.

Patient_Soft6238 2025-09-12 20:48

Something something you want zero sales because then you sell yourself as a pre-revenue growth company.

Knoexius 2025-09-12 21:31

I agree, the same here with TSLQ

ad-astra-specta 2025-09-12 21:40

Spoiler: it's in the kitchen.

Fit-Cartographer9634 2025-09-12 21:47

v2: You'll ask it for a Coke and it'll come back with Pepsi. You will not be amused.

relaxyourshoulders 2025-09-12 23:34

Try giving Elon a trillion dollars and see if that helps.

fastwriter- 2025-09-13 07:13

Does really anybody think that Robots will be a mass market? Does anybody believe that you will be able to buy one for 30.000 Dollars as promised? Never ever. If there ever will be a „Household Robot“ like an Optimus, it will be over 100.000 Dollars. And why would you need one? There are Vacuuming Robots you can get for 300 Dollars. You can buy Lawn Mowing Robots for 300. Irrigation Automation can be installed from maybe 500 Dollars up. Home Automation is not expensive either. So does really someone think that there are that many people that will spend so much money for a „Humanoid“ Robot just to not have to fold their Laundry and take out the trash? It’s all a Science Fiction Fantasy. Just like going to Mars is.

GiveMeSomeShu-gar 2025-09-13 16:44

Oh I completely agree. I'm sure some rich families will have some cool robots that do neat things sometimes, but we are nowhere near those being available to regular folks. And like you said, there are more practical and affordable options that will be more on reach for working class people (like roombas).

RosieDear 2025-09-14 00:05

Remember, tesla is tech....for those who don't know tech! really. My wife told me about a guy she walks with (in a walking club) who is supposedly an engineer...and he crowed to her all about Optimus. When my wife told me I said "Well, he exposed himself as a know-nothing" - and that is true. I stand by it fully.

dtyamada 2025-09-14 00:11

Absolutely. Anyone who thinks Optimus is amazing isn't paying attention or doesn't understand what they're actually seeing (i.e. teleoperated or preprogrammed robots).

That_Abbreviations61 2025-09-14 01:13

You should be getting more upvotes for this. Truly underrated.

Grab_Extra 2025-09-14 05:34

Elon is attacking Democrats, ya know, the same guys who care about global warming and buy EVs?

OrwellWasGenius 2025-09-14 15:50

Household *I do everything* robots will never become a thing. They will do nothing well and would be insanely complex, with a high shelf price and repair costs through the roof. In manufacturing, robots are already in full use. They perform specific movements and functions extremely well. In the future, armies will undoubtedly start using Boston Dynamics robot dog style solutions equipped with machine guns. That's for sure. But even those shooting dogs are meant for special cases, like sending them into enemy trenches.

Doctor__Proctor 2025-09-14 18:10

"That's my secret, dextercho83. I was always a Nazi." - Elmo Muskrat

za72 2025-09-14 23:31

they'll pivot to the next thing.... maybe ice cream

LostFaithlessness201 2025-09-15 10:24

Saw Elon pump money into Tesla stock last week, two things wants to stimulate amateur retail buying and his ego took a massive hit when Oracle owner became worlds number 1 billionaire. Thing is people will be dumb enough to buy.
