It's just a shame that VW price range is too high compare to what they offer.

linknewtab 2025-08-22 06:15

While I think EVs are generally too expensive, I don't see VW being worse than other OEMs.

neliz 2025-08-22 06:49

That's every VW, you can get a better and more luxurious car from France, Korea, or Japan and having the benefit of not having to deal with a car from the VAG group

Speeder172 2025-08-22 06:51

Well when you sell a ID7 Tourer starting at 58K up to 75K.... I think that's very pricey for what they offer [https://www.volkswagen.fr/fr/configurateur.html/\_\_app/id-7-tourer.app?---=%7B%22configuration-step-navigation-service%22%3A%22%2F%3FconfigStep%3D%257B%2522context%2522%253A%252230560-35095-ID.7%2BTourer%2BPro%2522%252C%2522selectedStep%2522%253A%2522trim%2522%257D%22%7D](https://www.volkswagen.fr/fr/configurateur.html/__app/id-7-tourer.app?---=%7B%22configuration-step-navigation-service%22%3A%22%2F%3FconfigStep%3D%257B%2522context%2522%253A%252230560-35095-ID.7%2BTourer%2BPro%2522%252C%2522selectedStep%2522%253A%2522trim%2522%257D%22%7D)

Yup. Actually I'm aiming for a BYD Seal. When you look at the comfort and the autonomy for the price, it's a pretty good deal.

benanderson89 2025-08-22 07:05

I have a Seal. Autonomy is a nothing-burger just like any other car (LKA and Radar cruise effectively). Comfort and performance though? Stellar. I've done several long trips in mine and I originally cross-shopped it with a BMW i4.

neliz 2025-08-22 07:06

In the Netherlands BYD basically took over most senior Tesla staff in their approach for growth.

benanderson89 2025-08-22 07:13

>flagging consumer interest in battery-powered autos \[...\] driven by a 38% gain in global EV deliveries from the previous year Make up your god-damn mind. Do people not want EVs or are they buying them so quickly it's up nearly 40%? ***Anyway*** It should be noted the VW Brand on it's own has now outsold Tesla, but in terms of cars sold for the entire group, Tesla has almost always been in third place behind Stellantis and VAG respectively. Likewise, this is only counting electric vehicle sales; if you lump in "traditional" cars into the mix (Diesel and Petrol), Tesla barely makes a blip in Europe outside of a few months where one model might be the best selling car in the region, and even those figures are called into question because they'll deliver one quarter's worth of cars in a single month and report the figures as if they were for, say, June only. It's all really scummy.

linknewtab 2025-08-22 07:15

So, what are the cheaper alternatives? Everything else in that segment is way more expensive.

Speeder172 2025-08-22 07:38

ev-database.org/

linknewtab 2025-08-22 07:40

That's not an answer. We have the BMW i5 Tourer and the Audi A6 e-tron Avant in the same segment. That's it. Both cost way more.

Speeder172 2025-08-22 07:42

Well, this is an answer, I don't have the exact model who can offer the same range for cheaper. But definitely BYD can do it with the Seal Design, for cheaper.

linknewtab 2025-08-22 07:45

There is no BYD Seal estate.

someguytwo 2025-08-22 07:53

I don't get why they keep s*iting on Herbert, if it weren't for him they would be in a worse place now.

Speeder172 2025-08-22 07:56

In this case the Sealion7.

linknewtab 2025-08-22 08:01

Are you just naming random cars now? That's an SUV. Also has less range and isn't actually much cheaper. Maybe just accept that your original premise was wrong.

North-Outside-5815 2025-08-22 09:19

European EVs are pretty great. I love the Škoda Enyaq

North-Outside-5815 2025-08-22 09:22

I don't think that is true at all.

MoleMoustache 2025-08-22 09:27

You can say shitting on the internet, we won't tell mummy

someguytwo 2025-08-22 09:37

Don't know, man. Got banned from subs for less.

gwenver 2025-08-22 10:08

When I scroll down to the related posts there's one from 4 months ago saying: Volkswagen Overtakes Tesla As Europe's Top EV Seller So, doesn't seem like news to me. Then again let's just keep recycling the bad news and eventually the penny will drop.

PaulRyan97 2025-08-22 11:03

There really isn't any. ID.7 is a big car, in that segment it's probably the cheapest electric estate you can buy. The 75K is for the AWD GTX variant with the larger battery. We are missing a C-segment electric estate market, off the top of my head the only one I can think of is the Opel Astra but it doesn't really have the legs you want for an estate.
