The Deep Story On The Waymo Vs Tesla Robotaxi Battle, With Video

Grunge4U | 2025-08-21 19:55 | 98 views

This is a long article but worth the read so I'll paste the conclusion. This leads to the conclusion that Tesla still isn’t really even in the race yet, or at best they’re in last place among the major players. If they can make self-driving work, they’ll be in the game, and with some advantages, but still a long way to go

Unfortunately the cult will see it as a hit piece as the last line states - The author worked for Waymo 12 years ago and owns some GOOG. He used to own TSLA but sold it this year.

Glad to see a major media outlet like Forbes put out something objective about Tesla instead of just repeating Musk's lies.

no

But Marques Brownlee just flew to Austin and rode in both and he says they're comparable!

> Tesla [is] the most innovative and dynamic in the non-Chinese world, and by a large margin. One man’s innovative and dynamic is another man’s irresponsible and reckless.

I can't believe this guy gets the views he does / gets rewarded for his silly uneducated takes. He's not a car guy but reviews cars too. During his Prius Prime review, he seemed to think the optional solar roof was super useful and the coolest thing about the car.

Did you get your ketamine from Elon

Would you rather have the mainstream media continue to regurgitate Musk's lies?

If Tesla fans start to feel the short squeeze, there's a chance that Tesla could fail by this time next year. Institutions have stopped buying the stock, except for Cathie "I had a good year back in '20" Wood. The stock has been massively propped up by Robinhood bros that only know the concept of buying the dip. At In Q4 2025 and 1h 2026 Tesla will report negative EPS, further sales contraction, continue making wild statements about how they're really close to full self driving, mass production of a semi, humanoid robots (that will have been delayed again), and they'll be telling us how great they are at AI despite there being dozens of other companies outcompeting them. The only intrinsic value in the company will be their IP and their charging network. It's weird that their best performing sectors were cars and solar installations, and they've completely ignored those sectors. If Europe cuts back on carbon credits, it will be their death.

There is no battle. One product is real, one is not.

I should add, this whole Tesla vs Waymo thing. It feels like if Tesla keeps saying how life-changing their self-driving tech is, perhaps they can 1) wish it to be true, 2) wish people to mass adopt it, and 3) wish people to ignore that others are doing it better, along with the traditional cabs and rideshares that are already giving millions of rides a day. This isn't the iPod entering a fractured MP3 player market, this is more akin to Sirius and XM arguing before Congress that they should be allowed to merge (despite the law saying they couldn't) because the true competition wasn't between satellite operators, but between satellite radio operators, terrestrial radio, streaming, CD's, portable music (MP3), etc. Right now the media is treating Tesla's robotaxi like it's the only one, but it's really got dozens of competitors, all of whom are bigger currently. Or another analogy is it feels like Theranos. If Musk keeps wishing things to be true and saying they're close, then eventually maybe they'll figure it out. But the reality is they're just a few successful court cases and whistleblowers away from it being a total house of cards.

>I can't believe this guy gets the views he does / gets rewarded for his silly uneducated takes. He is entertaining, that's enough for most. Just like Rogan or the Theo guy.. The problem being, actual useful information is boring.
