Literally r/CyberStuck 🤣

LVegasGuy 2025-08-11 20:48

I thought Elon crossed the Rubicon. Maybe not.

ManifestDestinysChld 2025-08-11 20:49

This is hilarious because it's not happening to me. What a testament to the power of one man's hubris.

mishap1 2025-08-11 20:50

I feel like this is one of those situations where it just becomes a trail marker kind of like Green Boots.

StumpyOReilly 2025-08-11 20:53

I can guarantee that every obstacle the CyberTruck conquered involved the Jeep pulling (winching) it over. Did you see the rock garden in the one photo. The CyberTrucks articulation capabilities being less than a golf cart means it had to be dragged up that hill.

abckiwi 2025-08-11 21:00

I heard it had a "Support" Jeep with it carrying spare parts. ? Was that true?

mishap1 2025-08-11 21:03

Not only did this genius buy a $100k shitty/half-finished trash can and drive it onto a real trail that was eating tie rods like M&Ms b/c he listened to the billionaire carnival barker, but it appears he's built an entire business around selling "offroad" parts to butch up this embarrassment that is no longer selling at a sustainable volume. Now, he's got a non-rolling billboard trapped on one of the most famous trails in the country with his ads all over it. I can't imagine putting more eggs into that basket.

Article says it was hauling a generator as well but at some point it couldn't charge up anymore which is why it's stuck out there. >“When one of the Samurais in our group decided to call it a day around Arnold’s Rock on day one, the Cybertruck crew—complete with a Jeep JL Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon as a chase/recovery/generator carrier vehicle—was struggling on mild obstacles, blocking the trail,” they continued. “

RegularGuyAtHome 2025-08-11 21:12

It says right in the article they had a Jeep carrying a bunch of replacement parts and a winch to help it pass obstacles.

ManifestDestinysChld 2025-08-11 21:16

Those things are already so useless. Whatever the mission is, there is a vehicle better-suited for accomplishing it than the Cyberstuck. ...Unless the mission is "to draw attention," that is. That is the only thing a CT does better than all other vehicles. So yeah, inadvertently making it into a should-be-rolling-but-isn't billboard for failure is 100% on-brand. (The worst part is that this will probably not dent Elon's reputation as a hype man; people will still slurp up his nonsense.)

Dangerous_Seaweed601 2025-08-11 21:21

Oh no! Anyway..

Defiant_Shallot2671 2025-08-11 21:27

Also read he did multiple tie rods, a few CV's, and what stranded them was a steering rack failure. Since it's steer by wire, there was no steering at all, not even Armstrong.

lazyanachronist 2025-08-11 21:33

They also sent parts in with other groups doing the trail.

Mokmo 2025-08-11 21:45

Green Boots has been moved out of the way a decade ago.

[deleted] 2025-08-11 21:47

Gonna be the new school bus …

whisperwrongwords 2025-08-11 21:51

Jeep people are a weird breed

Phyllis_Tine 2025-08-11 21:54

Why couldn't his business' offroad parts let his CT pull through the trail?

1makfly 2025-08-11 21:55

I reckon soon they will all be going “off” road.

JamesLahey08 2025-08-11 21:55

Fuck tesla

readonlycomment 2025-08-11 22:01

A Cyberstuck will decompose in less than a decade.

needssomefun 2025-08-11 22:05

Cyber ornament

mishap1 2025-08-11 22:12

Seems that's a question for the owner/marketing guy as to why they felt ready for this trail. Based on the read of the article, between the inability to charge it up with the generator and the need to disassemble much of the front end to install a replacement steering rack, there's a lot of failure points on the CT when offroading. You need to be super comfortable climbing under a 3+ ton vehicle jacked up off camber on the rocks and then follow these 17 easy steps while having a \~$2k (Ebay for used ones) steering rack on hand. [https://service.tesla.com/docs/Cybertruck/ServiceManual/en-us/GUID-31B58FA2-A075-4A5E-BA95-72E24C8F7BE4.html](https://service.tesla.com/docs/Cybertruck/ServiceManual/en-us/GUID-31B58FA2-A075-4A5E-BA95-72E24C8F7BE4.html) I guess they could sell heavier tie rod ends but if the rack itself is cooking (probably all that leverage + weight), there's not much you can do since it's a bespoke 48v fully electronic part w/ no physical connection to the steering wheel.

pzerr 2025-08-11 22:15

You only have to take a quick look at the A-Arms and suspension system to know it is not off-road level. It is barely car level. When you include the static weight of the vehicle, it barely is highway level. And don't get me on the brakes. You have options in vehicles and trucks in particular. You build it heavy and durable, but that creates a lot of un-sprung weight and it drives rougher. Or you build it light and it drives better. Build it real light and you have a performance car. The CT is the worst of both worlds. Very heavy truck but built everything around it light to get some performance. Yes it has a nice ride but that comes at the cost of not doing truck things and breaking easy. And as a truck, what is the point?

pzerr 2025-08-11 22:16

Two generators and a great deal of fuel. Generators are about 1/2 as efficient to begin.

heleuma 2025-08-11 22:16

These are so full of arrogance and stupid it's depressing

pzerr 2025-08-11 22:17

Is fine. Means you do not have cars all over the place.

This is toy truck for idiots with too much money and I have seen videos where it could get unstuck if the computer didn't keep stopping the truck or limiting the wheels as sometimes you need to spin the wheels

Jendaye 2025-08-11 22:40

I highly recommend reading the article as it's fucking hilarious

StanchoPanza 2025-08-11 22:45

All for views from incels on YouTube

ManifestDestinysChld 2025-08-11 22:52

Because they aren't "offroad parts" so much as "turd polish."

ADDSquirell69 2025-08-11 22:58

Is it normal to bring extra parts for your car on this trail or just for the Cybertruck?

Status_Ad_4405 2025-08-11 23:07

It's like all the garbage and dead bodies left on Mt. Everest.

PlannerSean 2025-08-11 23:13

The dead bodies were once things of value to the world. It’s just the garbage.

sneaky-pizza 2025-08-11 23:16

His army of elonstans couldn’t cross a creek

JortSandwich 2025-08-11 23:28

It’s important to remember that this only happened because the vehicle is a complete and total piece of shit from top to bottom.

TacohTuesday 2025-08-11 23:35

I've been on the Rubicon and it's no joke. It eats even the most well-built Jeeps for lunch. The rocks and ruts you have to crawl over are huge. This puts a lot of stress on the suspension and drive train components. Breaks are common. The wider and heavier the vehicle, the worse it gets. The need for field repairs and welds are common. This "truck" is not suitable for the Rubicon AT ALL.

Defiant_Shallot2671 2025-08-11 23:54

It's not uncommon to break something on this trail. It is however, very uncommon to have 8 consecutive breakdowns.

BrewtalKittehh 2025-08-11 23:55

Angle grinders are battery-powered, too

WoolshirtedWolf 2025-08-12 00:37

A thirty second video of a Cyber truck in barely snowy conditions should have been all the proof they needed not to do this.

gmwdim 2025-08-12 00:43

Nah decomposition happens when something gets consumed by bacteria and other microorganisms. Even bacteria don’t want the Cyberstuck.

gmwdim 2025-08-12 00:45

When you need a Jeep of all things for logistical support lmao

idk_wtf_im_hodling 2025-08-12 01:26

The battery is a massive fire hazard so it def needs to be removed

big_trike 2025-08-12 01:27

Dead bodies don’t spontaneously combust like cyber trucks. This problem might solve itself.

l0c0pez 2025-08-12 01:44

Corrosion and oxidation will be doing the heavy lifting, leaving a pile of shitty plastic parts and flakes of rust behind for others to remember.

Low_Shirt2726 2025-08-12 03:28

I'm not familiar with the particular trail but I've personally been a passenger with someone who had to call an offload tow truck at great expense because none of the driver's friends were able to come help due to not having 4wd. We went up a berm too fast and sort of ramped off the top lip, which popped the front end into the sir to the point we were nearly laying on our backs in the seats for a moment. When it came back down it slammed so hard it completely busted the front suspension.

Low_Shirt2726 2025-08-12 03:33

That's one of the weird things about it. A bunch of the videos I've seen were definitely situations most 4x4 vehicles could easily get out of but the computer just completely kneecaps Teslas regarding spinning and slip. You'd think there would be a setting to let them spin up to a certain amount

RainierCamino 2025-08-12 04:32

"It was a wildly irresponsible trail run. That crap does not belong out there" That's from someone who evidently saw the same Cybertruck hit easier trails. And I mean if you're planning on swapping steering racks and multiple tierods ... just get a more capable 4x4. Nevermind trying to unfuck a dead EV off a trail. Fucking stupid.

Wiseguydude 2025-08-12 04:59

The funny part is that a stock Rivian R1S SUV made it through https://www.motortrend.com/news/stock-rivan-r1s-suv-conquers-infamous-rubicon-trail

scottkensai 2025-08-12 05:38

This is going to be a great episode of Matt's off-road recovery!

hypercomms2001 2025-08-12 06:05

Let's see how far it goes crossing the Darien gap!

DEADB33F 2025-08-12 08:25

Half shafts & tie rods yes maybe. Needing to have a whole second truck just to carry your spares, no not really.

Biggest most expensive POS in it class!! Give it a JD power award!

New CT marketing ad: “8x more resilient to failures than a typical vehicle”

dr_reverend 2025-08-12 13:35

Who is dumb enough to take a Jeep off-road?

SwarlsBarkley 2025-08-12 22:41

In a stock r1s, no less. In 2023.

messick 2025-08-12 22:45

The wildest part of this story is that apparently there is a company doing business as "Cybertruck Co". Like I know just about every portion of Tesla is extremely mediocre, but how is the legal department still licensed attorneys with this level of incompetence?

liquidgrill 2025-08-12 23:02

Imagine buying a truck that everyone laughs at, depreciates faster than any other car AND can’t do even basic truck things?

JojoGetsAngry 2025-08-13 02:36

Why would you even TRY this in a CT?

Ok-Bill3318 2025-08-13 06:22

“Still love my truck”

Robo-X 2025-08-13 11:50

If the Cybertruck needs ramps to go up a sidewalk, how do they expect it to conquer a rocky trail? Maybe Tesla road assist can help.

The_Great_No_One 2025-08-13 15:23

I wonder how long it will be before all of the local towing companies say no and we see Matt's Off-Road Recovery come down and get it. It isn't the first time they've done a recovery off the Rubicon.

Butteriswinning 2025-08-20 15:14

It's normal to carry extra parts like a tie rod or an axle on this trail just like it's normal to carry a spare tire and wheel in most other situations.
