The future is Tesler robotaxis!!! /s
It's all computer!
[Probably using FSD, hence running the red light.](https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaFSD/comments/1i27bbz/v13_red_light_behavior/)
How TF do you crash in a single lane tunnel? Literally look in the one direction cross traffic could possibly be coming from. My god the drivers are barely better than FSD and that is saying something.
The loop taxis are all driven by humans. Honestly the design looks like it would be challenging for an autonomous vehicle. Even with the very limited amount of traffic it seems to have some difficult merges and intersections.
Most new cars have auto-break collision detection. Tesler has auto-turn-off-fsd collision detection.
Dude, why is everyone talking about this FSD and robotaxi like it's going to cure cancer? Why would I care if my taxi has a driver or not when I call out one? What a meme stock market , a company with declining sales is trading at the $300 range...
Right! I mean most modern cars have radar modules for collision avoidance. Oh yeah Elon took those out.
Doesn’t the “hyperloop” go onto the city streets on when it goes back to the beginning
Section of the Loop use public roads, so loop traffic is merging with regular traffic. I know, it's stupid.
How does someone pitch this without being laughed out of the room?
"People don't need radar and see just fine so cameras is all you need" (disregard that the human eye flexible lens system and depth perception as well as light/dark adjustment are far above in performance than any simple small camera out there). Also why settle for human level when you can literally superhuman level with laser radars?
100% computer 50% of the time. (remote controlled by logitech driving wheels)
Anyone remember when the Loop proposal for Dodger's stadium was a one-way tunnel and then to drive all the vehicles back to the start on surface streets to get them back?
“60% of the time it works … every time”
step 1. be fElon Musk
not sure FSD being camera based only would work in such a tight space
Step 2: spin a story of complete bullshit to get tax breaks
RAWR!
Alfa Romeos have auto-break functionality. Most modern cars have auto-brake capability.
Don’t believe this for a second! Where are the photos?
Wait so now it's just a 4-seater bus? Remarkable. I didn't think it could get dumber.
The fact that the Vegas loop remains driver required is such a huge obvious tell robotaxi isn't close. If they can't be autonomous in the perfect setting they can't be anywhere.
I love my Tesler!
wait, it's not even a loop?
Nor with nice low contrast wall.
"Our driver ran through the red light and collided with another Tesla" A red light? What about that magic ability to stack an infinite number of tunnels on top of one another?
Because eliminating the driver would greatly reduce costs. My problem, however, is with their market figures. The numbers don't work out to the large targets they're projecting. Second, should their Robotaxi service blow out, their robotaxi sales are going to cut into their Budget EV sales. Third, I don't see the Robotaxi body design as being revolutionary as far as enabling new AI assisted applications. It's just an Eco Coupe without a steering wheel.
Years in, and it's failing on all metrics, availability, capacity, wait times, usage, and travel speed. How did the idea get through the basic mockup stage. They could have set two interns on the floor with toy cars, pens, paper, and a watch, and figured out the single tunnel idea was going to be a serious rate limit.
It wouldn't eliminate costs as much as people like to pretend. The driver is the one paying for the vehicle and fuel, the one doing the cleaning, etc.
Bhahahhahaha they don’t even use robotaxi in a one-way tunnel and yet people are boosting this stock to absolutely insane P/E ratios based on it completely taking over the global taxi market in the immediate future. What a scam
Well, usually, the driver takes care of the vehicle, at least in terms of refueling / charging, so it's somewhat justified. I've always been fine with the Uber prices and honestly doubt it's going to be so much more cheaper. We'll see, though.
I believe the inside of the loop vehicles are recorded on cameras, so I hope you were wearing your seatbelt otherwise legal action *might* be more difficult
Serious question: why? TBC has somehow got this approved as an "amusement ride" to get around pesky ADA requirements. And every amusement park ride I've ever been on, the staff has to check and make sure you're belted in. This isn't a traffic accident - it's essentially a roller coaster accident.
Also, based on the huge sums of money being spent on AI training, development costs are much, much higher than the cost of training a person to drive.
I want L4 in my own personal car
Fair point. I still think it would be an easier and less time consuming case if they were wearing their seatbelts versus if they were not. Extra ammo for the company's defense team.
Stonk go up
With bribes
Reduce costs for who? Insurance will just up their rates and eat all of those savings.
It's the dumbest transportation system ever devised. Also a ghost town. Go check out this video from 4 days ago: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPjODKUxV5g](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPjODKUxV5g)
Ye I think once it gets to the convention center it has to go on the surface streets to go back to the entrance. I’m wondering why they didn’t just use buses. Or even a people mover in place of the teslers
It is better for the tax payer - rather than spending more money on tunnels that have zero benefit for the public.
