This is a long read, but well worth it. Hard to summarize, but the lawyer who recently won the $250M Autopilot judgment outlines his approach. Super cool news is that in the coming weeks all of the evidence from the case that is not sealed will be released. Including the motion for sanctions for burying evidence for four years.
That’s 20% of Tesla’s net income last quarter... Nice!
Or like 1% of Elons new pay package unfortunately. By the time Tesla fails, Elon and the board will have siphoned off billions into their bank accounts and other private companies
anybody got that non-account/pay walled version?
Oh boii, let‘s get ready for those calls to print… have a 10% pump!! Edit: but seriously, really good read and I hope this brings TSLA to a more responsible behavior…
Whose money are they taking? The shareholders who repeatedly asked for this? Good luck to them
Sorry, was no paywall when I clicked it. https://www.removepaywall.com/search?url=https://www.theverge.com/tesla/720157/tesla-death-lawsuit-verdict-lawyer-brett-schreiber-interview

Well also anyone with a 401k tho. We are buying Tesla if we own any stocks that cover the s&p 500 so many unintentionally buy Tesla. Until it is removed from the s&p 500 anyway.
Oh man, the hype is real, I have high hopes! **"Now that we have this verdict, I’m curious to know what you think it’s going to mean for future cases pending against Tesla?"** "Round two, *Maldonado v. Tesla*, Alameda State Superior Court, 75 days from today. Tesla’s going to find out. I’m the plaintiff’s lawyer in that case. And I am not limited in California to a 3x multiplier on punitives. If I had asked that jury in Florida for a billion dollars, they would have given it to me. But I couldn’t ask them for that. Florida law says punitives can only be three times compensatories. I asked for $104 million in compensatories. They gave me $129 \[million\]. I got to tell you something, as a trial lawyer, to get $25 million over your ask is unheard of. They would have given me anything I asked for, not because it was me, but because of the facts. The facts are a stubborn thing. And we get to tell those same facts with a better Autopilot defect theory"
"This was not a car company that got into tech. This was a tech company that got into cars. And their production process was unlike what any other responsible automotive manufacturer has ever done. Rather than ensuring that things were ready for prime time, rather than releasing a finished product, they released a beta product. But they tell you, We call it beta, but we don’t really mean it’s beta. Again, they use words to the point where they become meaningless." Yikes. Sounds like a RT old-timer.
S&P keeping it in the index and all the ETFs including Tesla are displaying gross negligence.
As I understand the S&P Index Committee rules they can only remove it once earnings go negative or market cap drops below a threshold way below what it is now. Former will happen before latter, possibly as early as Jan 2026 when 2025Q4 reported. However usually stocks stay in despite going negative in case it is temporary, but all bets off for what they'll do with this one. My guess is they'll be keen to kick it out as soon as they can.
Not as long as Elon has anything to do with the company
Yeah probably you are right. I would expect some board level corporate politics to kick in at some point. All these happenings are really not doing the stock any good.
How much do you know about this company? His brother is one of the five board members, and the remaining are his personal and family friends.
Nah, man… we’re just a bunch of shorts and luddites. We couldn’t *possibly* have predicted this, practically from the moment that Dipshit started calling the shots at Tesla.
> I hope that consumers demand that they rethink their approach. Dare to dream, Brother. When Tesla does pull back on the reins and make overtures toward producing an ethically responsible product, the Teslarians raise a holy stink. fElon said it himself - without autonomy, and more specifically, Tesla’s style of autonomy, Tesla is a zero.
So the real question is when do we start shorting Tesla stock? Profiting off of Musk’s failure will be the icing on the cake!
>once earnings go negative In a year it should be. No more tax credits and even more price cuts and 0% interest.
It blows my mind that is less then 1% of the bonus musk was just awarded for being completely incompetent.
Same time you place a bet that Santa is actually gonna slide down your chimney.
Well since Tesla is apart of the SnP500, everyone’s… it’s just a matter of how much exposure you have. But most have some, whether you buy Tesla or not.
Musk was awarded for being a great salesman, oops, I mean a con man.
good on ya, mate! That Musk bloke mustve wet his grundies
Maybe Hollywood has ruined what I expect from conmen, but I think Elon is a horrible conman, he just lies like Trump, just easily disproven bs that typically contradicts what they have previously said.
Ya gotta say... The believers have to take some responsibility. This isn't quite Jones Town. Not yet...
