To be precise: Their market share overall is 0.6 % for the first seven months of 2025, down 58 % over last year. Market share in July was 0.4 %, down 55 % over July 2024. They barely sold 1k cars in July, when they can produce 500k cars a year locally and are currently expanding to 800k. Of which 12k will be sellable in Germany. I wonder when they will shut down Giga Berlin.

The q2 slide deck has current capacity at 375k, so not even to your 500k number as of yet.  Since Tesla knows their growth story is shaky, they have not commented on expansion of the Berlin factory for something like 18 months now.  All told, they sold 325k in Europe in 2024 (Berlin doing 232k in sales). 2023 was 365k in Europe. This year is shaping up to be a bloodbath.  There have long been rumors of minimums Tesla needs to hit in China. If true, Tesla is in a bind. They need to be able to export model 3s to Europe because they need that 100k/yr in exports.   That factory is running below capacity as it is as well.

Yep. I imagine the far right's adoption of trolling is mostly about loneliness and feeling like outcasts. They don't care if it's good attention or bad attention, so long as they get attention or attempt to make people feel as bad as they feel about themselves. Bad attention is far easier to achieve by saying horrible things. There are also a lot of older lonely retirees, learning how to use the internet for the first time, using it as a crutch for social interaction, entering it at a time of significant toxicity, trolling, and misinformation, that have no idea how to deal with it, and they quickly find that toxicity pays off. When that turns them into outcasts from reasonable/rational people, they start to lean further and further into the only group that supports the dumb toxic shit they're saying... the far right. Then there's the younger crowds, severely impacted by COVID, severely impacted by more societal insularity loss of social interactions, and far more complexity in sexuality and relationships that seems to be driving quite a few to the right. Given the difficulty in forming new friendships and relationships, they turn to the "alpha" male culture. Meanwhile, everyone's completely distracted by the constant flow of dopamine hits that is the internet.

Cheap was never something the Germans aimed for within the German market. Even the more affordable cars like the Polo cost plenty more than the competition. Why would a traditional Polo customer, who pays 10-20% more for the VW premium over for example the French, then not pay those 10-20% more anymore? BYD dont have exceptional quality, theyre ok cars at decent prices. And when we talk about the premium segment, well go ahead and look up how well Nio has been doing in Germany the past years. Spoiler: not very well.

the Gruenheide plant will be at less than 40% occupancy. They are better off mothballing it. It would have been ideal location for a compact class Tesla but they alienated their buyers in Europe so that is out the window too. 0% custom tariffs on imports from US for both Model 3 and Y.

They fell to 2.2% of the EV-market, meaning 0.4% of the total car registrations in July. The German EV share is 18.4%, so currently the growth potential for Tesla is very limited. In the other European markets, Tesla holds around 10-13% electric market share with EVs around 15-30% of total sales, depending on the country.

Then add up the numbers of VW ID.4, Skoda Enyak, Cupra Tavascan and ID.7. They are all the same platform, have similar sizes, only differ in shape and interior. Even the Skoda Elroq could be added. BTW, ID.4 and Skoda Enyak combined outsell the Model Y by far, the ID.3 outsells Model 3 (as does the EV3) Teslas competitors offer choices to select from. Tesla is the socialist counterpart: take that or get nothing. There are more than 100 EVs to select from.

VW's (respectively VAG in general) quality seems to have went down the gutter (in a relative sense at least) in the last 2 decades. Mercedes Benz is probably even worse. They were famed for engines with great longevity, some even legendary, not anymore. One example of these downfalls: timing belts (not chains) in oil... More expensive to replace, more erratic on when they break/have to be replaced, can't inspect it visually and if they break, the engine is usually dead. Or if they start to fray, you get damage before they break because the shit lands in the oil. And it seems VW's image advantage is running out of steam respectively people start accepting that you're not getting the quality anymore, you would expect from their premium price. They have problems in their numbers for some time now.

I was visiting Germany earlier this year and one of the companies (a global player in the food equipment industry) issued a decree - No Teslas as company cars and all employees driving Tesla company cars had to arrange the the transport department, to start replacing all of their cars by end of August with non-Tesla cars. They had only been supplying EVs as company cars for 3 years already. New company cars are still all EVs but no Swastikars. I’m not sure if the company owned these cars given as company cars or leased them but the folks I asked said there were over 8,000 cars in their fleet across 5 cities.

The wildest things are the numbers for Model X and Model S. They’re competing in numbers with Lucid and Lotus. I‘d be surprised if they reach triple digits this year. IIRC they even stopped selling them in some countries because they’re dead. Nobody is buying this when you can get a Model 3/Y that fills 90% of what they do. The now basically make 1,5 different cars (as Y and 3 are so similar) and that’s the „most valuable“ car brand. Absolutely insane.

Xai is apparently burning/spending 1 billion a month in capex and costs related to their expansion and training. So they need all the money from their fundraising, especially if the economy crashes. Musk seems to be great at organizing these financial matters so I'm never too worried about him. I think he'll merge x, xai x into the Tesla to bury or hide all the stupid valuations issues if Tesla (and x + xai). That he can stop worrying about having to brag about the imminent takeover of the world by robo taxis. Just let them continue failing and growing at a snail's pace while he hypes evermore on AI stuff to keep the price up and hope that XAI eventually build something useful.

He literally destroyed the Tesla brand in most Western countries over the past 6-12 months. Teslas market evaluation was always crazy, but currently it's completely baffling. Whotf still thinks Tesla can become the dominant force in the new industry. Its clearly between the catching up all-timers and the new Chinese competitors. Tesla would be lucky to become an also-ran that gets to stay in business with a small share of the market, but that doesn't even explain 5% of the stocks value.
