why have they licence plate?
Temporary dealer license plate
Unplated cars on city streets will be towed as abandoned and not registered.
You’d think with their massive valuation that they’d be able to afford off site parking lot…
Don’t they sell direct to customers? How does it work in US: do they get plates after sale or before?
[removed]
yeah it would be awful if some masked stranger went down the street tearing all the paper temp tags off them... Just awful... I would cry when they get towed. Real honest to gosh tears!
They still offer test drives and need to be able to drive them before they're sold. They definitely need a plate if they're parking them on the street or they're liable to be towed.
Totally. They’re just waiting there until the massive robotic brain awakens. Then they’ll roam the streets divining people rides for $4.20 or $.69 for shorter rides! They’re a profit center!
So Tessler has shifted storage costs from their own balance sheet to that of the city of Long Beach? Nice business plan Ketaboi.
I can't speak for every state, but every one where I've ever had the experience dictates that a car has to have a license plate to be driven legally on public roads. I'm sure that some states extend that to on-street parking, thus you'd have to put a dealer plate on a vehicle to park it on the street in this situation. I think I know what you were getting at, though - no, vehicles do not have a plate 'permanently' associated with the vehicle here.
That takes away from their Tesla Diner building space, though. How else are you going to get your $15 hot dogs?
Nah, now they're hiring Uber drivers to make the cars "self driving"...
I see a no parking sign. Call the city to have them towed.
Self driving (except for the driver and the safety officer) ha ha love it
311 them
or $12 for 2 pieces of bacon sliced in half so it looks like you got 4
When Tesla begins flaunting “Vehicles Built” instead of “Vehicles Sold” as a quarterly metric, the fan boys are going to drive the valuation through the roof!
Virtual cash.
Those are the fraudulent deliveries everybody is looking for...
I'm pretty sure the first one in the shot has a parking sticker on the window already (meaning multiple tickets)...they don't mess with parking in SoCal, so I am sure they are getting lots of fines.
Because it's illegal to drive a car without a license plate, and it's illegal to park an unregistered car on a public street. They would get parking tickets for every car every time parking enforcement went by, which would cost more than paid parking. So they're slapping dealer plates on them to avoid all that.
There are many legal ways to make them unsellable.

Based on past performance it’s likely they were evicted from those lots due to his refusal to pay his rent.
Hah, whaddya know? https://www.reddit.com/r/RealTesla/s/Lmrg9OGf1F
I've bet elon is gone make money on towed cars too. It has to be some hyperloop of law to use it
Who will buy this car nowadays?
It'd be too bad if their tires were flat and it caused them to be towed..
The local towing companies will make tons of money soon!
I’m sure they’ll be safe on the streets of LBC
Glad to see they're getting orange-tagged!
Great, now he's leaving his useless toys laying around everywhere...
keep calling the city until they are towed and impounded
Sweet! Free wheels and tires!
Just gonna use the impound lot as the new tesla dealership
As if street parking LB wasnt already terrible
This company is like a giant fuck you to basically everyone
This is Elonomics: externalize _everything_ while claiming to innovate.
If they pulled that crap in my neighborhood those windows wouldn't stay in 1 piece
Ladies and gentlemen: A trillion dollar company
Idk what the deal is but those are old body style.
Stocking up for when they flip the switch and unleash robo taxi nirvana upon the masses. Just more 5D chess!!!
Rainman fish sticks lol
I appreciate their asses being handed to them!
For what it’s worth, these are the older Model Ys. Probably tough to sell since the Juniper model is already being built and is the preferred version. And looking at the temporary plate. It seems to be leased returns/used vehicle inventory. Not a new vehicle.
Tesla fanboys: I don't see a problem here
Threaten to sue Tesla for lowering your home value. /s /nal
They should just use SpaceX to launch them into the fucking sun
That is very illegal. Street parking is for the public. Call your town. They may get ticketed or towed.
Can we get down to business and talk about OP's username?
Looks like a "please vandalize these so we can get an insurance payout for product we can't sell." situation.
In my opinion this is why they are expanding the taxi service so quickly even if it isn't self driving . It's a way to at least bring some returns on all of the overstock they have.
Does anyone reading this have a sophisticated sense of the extent to which Tesla needs to write down its inventory (especiallly on the cybertruck) but has yet to do so? I punched a few numbers to get a sense of this. For Tesla, its inventory is 65% of its most recent quarterly revenues. For Ford, its inventory is 34% of its most recent quarterly revenues. That's a stark difference. I would suspect that at some point soon (maybe the next annual audited statement) Tesla needs to make a sizeable write-down of its inventory, but I've only spent an hour or two looking into the question. I'm interested in others' thoughts.
Look at all of those robo-taxis
Don’t banks take over the liens from the companies that went bankrupt? It doesn’t mean Elon can get out of payment.
You mean explode uncontrollably on the launchpad.
Impact drill the underbody, watch firework.
Don’t you know corporations are people now. They probably have more right to pro their because they have more money than average people and money is what determines your value in society. Honestly op is lucky that their car isn’t getting towed to make room for tesla.
I just bought an ID.4 instead of a Model Y. Didn’t even consider it.
Bold of them. Spray paint happens.
It costs nothing if they don't pay the fines.
Hyperloop you say? I guess burying them underground like so many ET cartridges would be the merciful thing to do.
I've bet he will get a way how to get more money from taxes on wasted cars than on sales.
Believe it or not, Tesla doesn’t have insurance on the cars they haven’t sold. They’re all self-insured which makes this even more insane. https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/2539/tesla-starts-underwriting-its-own-insurance-will-they-insure-their-own-robotaxis
I'm sorry this is happening to you. But... 😆 Tesla is having so much stock that's not moving that it's now overflowing beyond empty lots. That's funny!
Lmao. Want to repost this image so badly on twitter & tag mr Musk so badly to annoy him
😂
Cars, sometimes long lines or cars get sideswiped all the time in Long Beach…
When you can safely park on the street of Long Beach overnight, it tells you the value of your car.
If these are lease returns they’re the cleanest, most unblemished 2-3 year old cars I’ve ever seen in my entire life.
Should flaunt "Vehicles burned down" statistics
Yeah, I don’t understand threatening to tow. If something needs to be towed, it should be towed.
I used to live in LB and still wake up in a cold sweat thinking that I forgot to move my car for the infernal Street Sweepers.
SpaceX probably still counts that as a "flight" 😂
Right?!?! This is the last thing we need.
I just got a $100 ticket last week. FML.
I start reporting them as abandoned vehicles. Where I live if a vehicle has not moved in 72 hours it’s abandoned and the last registered owner is notified and they’re not moved they get towed.
Working on it.
Parsimonious ceo
Do it!
No doubt that whenever that write-down occurs it will send the stock to new highs! 📈
Lease or not. The model year clearly states 2020 and 2022 on the license plate. Also, new models don’t come with tint.
They might be hiding them. Various people have been counting unsold Teslas at their lots, to get an early estimate on overproduction before Tesla releases reports. If Tesla doesn't want those numbers to be public, that might induce them to park a certain percentage outside of the lots people know and watch.
Fun fact, if you approach them directly from the side toward the rear view mirrors, the camera wont see you.
Oh boy i will
where do people who actually live their actually park?
They booted my car on 4th of July which fell on a Friday, ended up just relinquishing the title over street sweeper tickets. Such a racket.
New scam by Elon: towed=stolen by the deep state and them marked as sold by Tesla
Those are old cars the new models have "Tesla" instead of the badge.
They’re probably leaving the keys in them and hoping they get stolen so that they can at least get the insurance payout and write off the rest of the loss. Every Rogan fanboy Elmo suckup tRump ball fondler Nazi cult member that can afford one has already bought one.
Fines they will ignore and won’t pay. Just like their rents.
In California, all dealerships must put on a temporary license plate. The registered owner will then receive their permanent plates in the mail with a few weeks. Crazy, but before this law was established, you would drive off the lot with no license plates!!
A valve stem removal tool can be purchased cheaply on Amazon or from many car parts stores.
Hmm…new and unsold? You’re telling me they still haven’t sold through the previous pre-Facelift Model Ys?!? Damn son!
That’s a pretty good idea, try to steal uber/lyft drivers by offering a free car to drive people around in, via the new Tesla ride share program. If they threw in free charging I bet it would take off.
Tesla fanboys: look at all the lint in my belly button.
is this even legal?
Awesome.
Let the air out of all the tires. Don’t let that industrial waste ruin your residential street parking. Absolute bullshit for a “trillion dollar company”.
Many such cases.
Tesla is 100% going to be an HBR case study when the bottom falls out. The downside is that it will essentially teach some of the most intelligent and rising young talent in the business industry how a guy literally became the richest person in the world on hype, marketing, and “trust me bro.” The grift is going to get completely out of control.
These could be cybertaxi-ing and making money. Elon couldn’t hire enough human safety monitors?
I wonder if this is just free disposal, the city will have to store them and then go through the effort of getting rid of them. I'm sure they'll sue to recover costs, but Tesla will just go bankrupt instead of paying. Can't say Musk didn't think of everything /s
I wonder if they would all burn down, like a row of flaming dominoes?
Son, come look ... I bought a paint gun.
Only if they replace it with another Tesla, that's 2 vehicles sold. To the moon!
Uh, spaceX can’t even launch a banana into orbit using starship, And launching things into the sun is really expensive. But there is a window coming up to launch them to mars. At least this way he may be able to reach his goal of having something on mars by 2026, even if it is scrap metal which would come in handy to build underground bunkers there as there is literally nothing else and humans wouldn’t be able to live on the surface.
I wonder if the best place to put them is in the middle of the ocean?
wtf? There’s not even enough parking in Long Beach to begin with!
These ones unlikely have the monitoring on as that would drain the batteries quickly and I don’t believe they would employ someone to go around and drive these to a charger every week.
Putting these in public parking is one thing, but in front of people's houses it's going to get these set on fire. Are we sure this isn't actually Rivian or Lucid doing this?
GPS coordinates please
Aren't these old models?
Yep, 3 is the cheapest car on the European car market. 300 EUR a month. And still, nobody wants them, it seems.😉
Tesla is still a dealer, so that part is the same. Typically it's after sale. But there is the concept of "Dealer" and "Manufacturer" plates in California that are attached to a dealer/manufacturer and not the actual car. I've never seem those in paper form, but that could be what's happening here. Or, these could just be already registered cars, which means they aren't new, so at point who knows what is going on with them.
Turn them into the LB PD, they can only store them on the street for 72 hours before moving them 520 feet.
Are they making them faster than they sell?
Thanks everyone for commenting - very insightful. And the situation with parking outside for Tesla is shocking, frankly. I thought people in US are buying while federal tax credit are still available. Isn’t it the case?
Ooouf pre-facelift Ys as well. They'd have to sell em off cheap. If anyone actually wanted one ...
I’m confused, are these street licensed and insured vehicles. In my city it’s illegal to park vehicles on the street that aren’t insured for that.
At this price they should really be issuing new stock to raise capital.
It would be a shame if those tires lost all air pressure from sitting for so long.
Launching something into the sun is actually a bit difficult. You actually need to get the object to slow down a lot. The Park Solar Probe did 7 flybys of Venus in order to scrub velocity to get to the sun.
Are they still manufacturing the old model Y? I thought they would have switched to the refresh by now.
Someone might steal them, oh my bad, can a Tesla get stolen? I seem to recall someone saying Tesla tech makes them hard to steal. Wonder where Teslas fall on the most stolen cars list? 🤔
If they get towed they can then put on the balance sheet as sold vehicles. Musk playing 8D chess.
City towyard can be a paid parking spot for Teslas!
Why don’t they just park them all in some of Elon’s big stupid boring-ass tunnels?
„In delivery process“ … they could just have them drive around in circles, since they can deliver themselves now. They can do that, right? Right? By the way - did they ever „self-deliver“ a second car? I somehow never heard anything about that self-delivery after the first one.
I am skeptical of this assertion. Legal ways?
They have tags so it means they are registered already not new then?
What would happen if one of these vehicles caused a crash with no driver in the vehicle? Who would be responsible?
boycott, divest, protest Tesla
[deleted]
I’ve already seen a few dented up old Teslas riding around in the hood. They will become the next Altima soon.
Or do what every other automaker does in this situation, and cut a shift. Instead they keep piling them up.
If I was working for Tesla, I would put in the fineprint of the contract that „all responsibility, liability and accountability of Tesla regarding the condition of the car as well as possible damages happening to the car and other public or private property ends with the car leaving the Tesla factory“. Would that be legally watertight? Most likely not. Would they care? Probably not either…
A member of the public enters Tesla's Long Beach, CA store. Member of the public: 'Ello, I wish to register a complaint. (The staff member does not respond.) M: 'Ello, Miss? Staff: What do you mean "miss"? M: I'm sorry, I have a cold. I wish to make a complaint! S: We're closin' for lunch. M: Never mind that, my lad. I wish to complain about all these unsold Teslas what you've got parked all over the place, not five minutes' walk from this very boutique. S: Oh yes, the, uh, the Robotaxis...What's, uh... What's wrong with them? M: I'll tell you what's wrong with them, my lad. They're just vehicles you can't sell, and they're cloggin' up the streets, that's what's wrong with them! S: No, no, they're Robotaxis, they're uh,...they're waiting for customers. M: Look, matey, I know an unsold vehicle when I see one, and I've been walking past them all day. S: No no they're not unsold vehicles, they're just Robotaxis waitin' for customers. They're restin'! Remarkable car, the Tesla Robotaxi, idn'it, ay? Beautiful full self driving! M: The full self driving don't enter into it. They're unsold vehicles, takin' up all the parkin' spaces. S: Nononono, no, no! They're just waiting for customers! M: All right then, if they're waiting for customers, I'll order one! (opens Tesla Robotaxi app) M: OK, nearest available Robotaxi to me, right now... is in San bloody José! That's three hundred and sixty-two bloody miles away! S: Well, we're short of drivers! M: Short of drivers? I thought you said they were bleedin' robotaxis, with full self drivin'! S: I never!! M: Yes, you did! S: OK, I did, but they are robotaxis, with the full self driving, that need drivers. Hey, do you want a job? \[With apologies to John Cleese and Graham Chapman\]
Something is off. Those are older model y from prior year
They're going big brain here. The cars will get towed and impounded. They aren't paying the tickets nor the towing/storage costs. Free secure storage until a year or two from now when some poor schlub decides to buy one of these.
Really! Launch, explode - why quibble over nuances? Either way, they depart Earth making a lot of noise.
Channel stuffing.
I think it's less about having the money and more about this company not being able to think more than 90 days into the future
I'm not saying $15 for a hot dog is a reasonable price, but I am honestly shocked that it doesn't cost $30.
Isn't that so epiccccc? omg we r so epic and quirky... lmfao .. we talk just like you, fellow kids!
Maybe. I wouldn't think their insurance carriers would be thrilled about their storage practices. For sure their premiums would go up. Way up.
Have you seen what the hotdog looks like on their website? It’s the saddest hotdog you’ll ever see, priced for $15 bucks. They had an image before where it at least had relish and the like on it. Last I checked though it was just a plain, very well done dog on a bun.
A delivery is a delivery, regardless of where it ends up…
It would be a shame if the plates fell off...
Could a scrap yard turn a profit on those hunks of junk? I don't really know, just spitballing here. 🤔
I want to go around switching all the license plates with each other. “Honey didn’t we order a red one?”
Thank you for doing the lord's work! Need more proactive people out there doing this as well!
I assume you mean valve **core** removal tool. Just about anything can be used to remove valve stems. Tin snips, diagonal cutters, pruning shears...
Can’t burn if there’s no oxygen, so at least that’s something.
My guess is they have sold them internally within their distribution system so that they show up as sales for the purposes of quarterly reporting.
They have been hiding a bunch at nearby half abandoned mall parking lots.
The homeless problem has just taken a turn for the worse
SpaceX rebranding Starship program into a cruise missle program
Wait till they automatically drive around once a week if in order to not get towed...
I think the city would end up paying for every step. Getting a car declared as abandoned is not always easy. The scrap market is abysmal right now, but I think the scrapyards might make money.
Have the city tow it. Impound it. Then buy it at auction for a huge discount.
Well they’ve filled up most of the random fields they were allowed to in the south west soooooo
I guess the streets are driving teslas. Can we see a 20% stock gain? /s
I don't know why ppl deify business people. This is exactly what business people do. Take advantage of public good for personal profit.
And in fields in the middle of nowhere. Absolutely crazy that anyone thinks the company is going anywhere.
dude needs to just start calling tow trucks
[removed]
Let the air out of the tires
Get them towed. Buy them at auction for pennies on the dollar.
I would be frantic with the City for not immediately towing this trash off the streets.
They are not legally allowed to do that.
Touche.
I’ve seen a small handful parked in the same spots at my local national guard post for about 6 months. Same cars, same spots, day and night. Not sure why the national guard is sharing their parking lot.
Complain to the City
I’m not sure, someone has to take the blame
You’d especially think they could afford it considering they apparently don’t [pay the rest of their bills](https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/31/us/elon-musk-company-unpaid-liens-invs)
'Quirky' is when you're weird but still do your job well or are an otherwise upstanding person when it comes to your responsibilities. Otherwise, you're just weird. Your new age mom who dresses in tie dye gowns and decorates her house in beads, wind chimes, and African art replicas, but holds down a job and pays her mortgage is 'Quirky.' Elon Musk is just weird.
These are recent pictures? Odd. I wouldn't have expected to the older, non-refreshed Model Y.
My bad. I forgot the second part. Of course, all liability will shift to the buyer because basically, they commence ownership the moment the car leaves the Tesla factory. Maybe Tesla insurance will insure the drive, but at a hefty rate and it will necessitate that you get Tesla insurance afterwards.
Need a new battery? You know where to get one..
Full Self Insurance (Supervised)
That’s the kind of innovative accounting that made Enron the darling of Wall Street from 1995 through 2000.
Call to get them towed =)
They stand in No parking vehicles. Call towing companies, they are gonna have an absolute field day with this
Free vehicles for the city once they're in impound long enough.
> You’d think with their massive valuation that they’d be able to afford off site parking lot… It'd be a real shame if someone like rode by them all with a can of spray paint... I am not saying anyone do that, but it'd be a real shame if they did...
Long Beach has a law that cars must be moved at least a block away every 72 hours or be towed. This can get good. I also wouldn't be surprised to see all these cars sitting on cinderblocks with the wheels missing once the gangs know about it.
TSLA isn't a stock anymore, it's the reserve currency of fanboys
They're about to afford some really expensive "off-site parking". They've outsourced inventory management to city parking officials across the country. Genius move!! Stock up 8% after hours!!!!
Normally I would say this company is cooked but we are talking about Tesla...so... Bullish.
Stock rose 2.3% today just off the strength of this post alone.
Let's not pollute our oceans.
Sales tanked before the refresh. The Elongelicals claimed it was just people waiting to buy after the refresh. I have no doubt they have a bunch of pre refresh models they dont want to sell below market value because it actualises the losses. They are probably still on the books as full value of a new Y but once sold that no longer applies if they have to discount them to move them.
If it is a lot of vehicles call the local news media.
[ Removed by Reddit ]
OP says they are already flagged with stickers by the town, which say they will be towed soon.
The amount of people in this thread who didn't read OP's subtitle is astounding. OP: "They have stickers from the town threatening to tow them." Everyone: "OP! You should call the town and tell them about this!"
There are many cheaper EVs in Europe.
Honestly they probably will. It’s a meme stock I don’t see them going through financial statements or reading what people think of them.
This. If you own a tow truck, just start hauling these off and strip them down. Tesla probably wouldn't even care. IF they noticed, they'd fike an insurance claim and get paid. Perhaps they are HOPING people will vandalize them so they can get insurance repair $
They have cheated with that too. Sell cars to yourself. Then sell "used" cars.
I see
Them batteries must be worth something…
Nothing illegal can be said on reddit, you got the point.
But that would come out of Leon's pocket.
Nice concentrated area for those inclined to do damage.
Just asking to be vandalized
Should be against the law for a dealer to be parking cars in residential areas and clogging up the street.
lol call and see if you can get them towed
That is just so harsh! and the worst part is the dealerships are all corporate owned!
A Cruise driverless vehicle ran a woman over and parked on her in '23. She was pretty fucked up, obviously. She got a civil suit settlement around $10 million. California cancelled Cruise's license to operate driverless cars and the NHTSA fined them $1.5 million. DOJ fined them $500k. They ceased operating robotaxis but have since partnered up with Uber to get back at it. So long story short, no one is responsible. Pay some fines and a settlement.
That's nuts, why would they go that route?
Why do they have license plates on them if they are unsold ?
Tesla buys what are called gas station secondaries in bulk and reheat them at the diner.
Those are old teslas from. Year before
To the 🌖… or you know this guys street in Long Beach
Be a shame if something happened to those pretty shiny cars…
Cynically, because many 'sales' measures are not vehicles sold but vehicles registered. Because no car company would be insane enough to register cars just to juice their numbers. Right?
Welcome to late stage capitalism.
What a moron xD. Elon is the god of vertical integration hahaha
Holy shit lol. That's crazy.
[Since when?](https://www.tumblr.com/welcometobusinesstown/109586485326/businesstown-is-really-excited-about-a-visit-from)
It would be terrible if someone were to drive by at night and run a key down the length of every car, or fill a super soaker with brake fluid and eat the paint off or throw tons of bird seed all over the cars. I'm sure there's many terrible things that could happen to a brand new car left abandoned on the street.
That isn’t a smart move by Tesla. Parking unsold cars on public streets like this is nothing more than an invitation for people to damage them.
I think there's a bit of an apples and oranges thing here, because most of the Ford inventory is actually held by it's dealers, so it's somewhat seperated from corporate financing. Whereas Tesla directly owns all their inventory.
Good point. Which means Tesla's lots are so full of unsold new cars, they have nowhere to store the tradeins.
That seems like a good point. Thanks.
Those are temporary plates, almost certainly required in order to move and park them on public roads.
Bro these aren't robotaxi's in waiting but you definitely took the bait.
Doesn't the street sweeper come through? If so, this will cause parking tickets.
What does this have to do with their inventory/wholesale assets?
What sucks is that it won't be Elon left holding the bag, it will be the average investor hoping to retire left holding the bag.
So go tell them
This genuinely makes me happy. I do feel for the people who bought Teslas before Elon went off the deep end and are now stuck with them. But I’m glad to see that his actions are finally catching up to him. It’s frustrating that Trump has still managed to avoid consequences long overdue, but with Epstein becoming such a major focus in conservative media over the past few years, maybe this time something will actually stick.
Is that legal?
They‘re all sold :)
Sorry Bro! What a DB! Pic from 2022-2023
I mean here you'd just tell the tow company with the contract if you really want to see them disappear
Man what OP said went way over your head.
Not everybody has "gang member" in thier contacts lol.
Just spread the word of this around and watch the magic happen.
We call those people squares.
Get that shit towed!!!!
Well it would be in your best interest if you did. They make great Xbox live friends
For $30 you get the full self eating experience whereby a Tesla employee dressed as a robot shoves it in their mouth and pukes on you.
Report them on get it done.
Fun Fact Long Beach owns the tow company. Just call the city.
So they have to register them to do it too. Haha
If there was ever a sign to short tesla stock, I feel like this is it.
wouldn't be surprised if towing companies were bribed to not tow them
They're self insured, they don't have insurance
Does it count if they self-drive and park somewhere else ?
And why is the license plate in the second photo dated 2020? Are they fake plates?
I’m all for launching Elon into space, as long as he’s not planning on coming back.
They are struggling to sell than. They are praying for insurance claims (theft, vandalism, etc.), because their value is already lost. I think the best thing you can do is call a tow company and/or file a report about some potentially abandoned vehicles.
I did not know there is a Tesla Dealership in LB...are those cars from the Signal Hill location?
I don’t know where they’re from but the nearest Tesla dealership is the Signal Hill dealership about a mile away.
> Then they’ll roam the streets divining people rides for $4.20 With Musk it’s hard to know if he likes that number because of the stoner connection or Hitler’s birthday. But it’s probably both.
I'm going to take a wild shot in the dark and say within a few weeks, a fair amount of them will be resting on milk crates. 🤣
Sale on flathead screwdrivers at Home Depot!
Read the expiration date.
when hot commodity get ICE cold 🤣 Así es 🇲🇽
I'll take one
Do you know what a valve core remover is
Unleash the HOA on them and give us the updates!!
> Get them towed. Buy them at auction for pennies on the dollar. Given that they all seem to be networked back to Tesla, I wonder if Tesla could simply disable them remotely.
I wonder how long before the homeless figure out how to unlock them and use them for shelter.
Parking in Long Beach is fucking disastrous even without teslas being stored there.
> Tesla doesn’t have insurance on the cars they haven’t sold. If you're a big company, self-insurance often makes sense. XYZ Insurance is going to charge you more in premiums than they will pay out in the long run. You might as well put your premium payment money into an interest-bearing account and pay your own claims from there. Unless you can find an insurance company that you can fool into charging you too low of a premium. Or if you can do an Enron and make your financial numbers look better this way.
My question too.
For real? Damn
Impound yards will be the new Tesla Dealership sites... The Tesla lottery... buy a car with parking infringements... is it 1, is it 10 or is it 100... sign here, payment... Your car is at the impound yard in 'city 5 states away'...
The 'smashburger' looked like dog food thrown in a frying pan. Yuck.
PLEASE report on tow status when appropriate! I want to know how it ends… 😆
So… Free Teslas? Except they are always connected 😅 I mean how good you think inventory tracking and management capabilities are of a company which needs to resort to this?
Nice, free wheels
They don't care about the cars, getting them towed is probably beneficial to them
Call a tow truck bro.
Is there any way to convert a cult member to leave the cult? My BIL is a diehard fan, only has stocks in TSLA but doesn't own a tesla cuz can't afford a tesla usv (he needed an usv, went for used 2023 or so mazda x5) last time he bought a car, thinks musk is a genius, thinks Musk wants to save the planet, doesn't belive the heil hitler was a notsee salute, etc. Please help.
Elon put the AI of Universal Paperclips in charge of production. The universe will soon overflow with Tesla.
What’s going on with the four “cybercabs” aren’t there supposed to be tens if not hundreds of thousands on the streets by now? And I’m sure any moment now that Tesla owners will be able to have their cars operate as robotaxis while they sleep. Wasn’t that supposed to happen “this summer” like four years ago?
Teslas are piling up across the country ...
This warms my little heart ❤️
Why is the temporary tag on the white car five years old?
You could probably steal a few and sell them for parts.
They can't even pay their bills with their current valuation.. [https://electrek.co/2025/08/01/tesla-tsla-is-not-paying-bills-destroying-small-american-businesses/](https://electrek.co/2025/08/01/tesla-tsla-is-not-paying-bills-destroying-small-american-businesses/)
What if it's not Friday?
Call the city and report them as abandoned.
That's just weird. They can't rent a parking lot somewhere?
🔑 them
Send Elon out and they’re sold in an hour.
It's a "No Parking" sign for street sweeping. There's no parking for 2-4 hours, one day per week.
........ Except Cruise. Cruise was pretty clearly held responsible. They paid the settlement and fine for a reason, not just for shits and giggles.
At least this time they do it legally… At the Santana Row Tesla dealership I came back to a disability spot to see they dumped a CT in a blocked off area. (Fortunately I was able to squeeze in to pull my car out and then pick up the disabled passenger.)
was looking for this... these are old Model Y's, so don't know what's going on here...
Worth the $15, after you swallow it guides itself.
someone in the city's accounting department is probably having a heart attack realising that the scrap value might not even exceed the towing cost
$14.88 for longer distance drives
Or pulling a trailer with some scrap metal hanging a tad far off the side...
Steve Jobs was notorious for leasing Mercs for six months in order to not be obligated to have licence plates.
Time to call the tow trucks. “This car has been parked in the same spot for over 48-hours…”
City will not remove them. it is just for show so people think the city is enforcing. Once Musk "Sells" them to Chewco LLP off balance sheet corporation to get scrapped for parts for new Teslas then the city will forgive and only charge pennies on the dollar. Cheaper than actually paying for parking.
Just asking for trouble. Doesn’t help the brand. Happy the city is tagging b/c thats some BS right there.
scrapes and liquid gallium metal is bad for aluminum.
exactly and pay a fraction of what it would cost to do it the right way because the city will forgive them if they pay a penny on the dollar.
that's the plan. flood the storage facilities and eventually the City will forgive for a penny on the dollar. Musk saves a fortune.
FAFO
They probably have Chewco LLC off balance sheet corporation that they will sell to. Chewco will disassemble the cars and offer the parts to Tesla as payment to be used for the construction of new Cars. Infinite money glitch.
That valuation has nothing to do with value but with gullible people believing Musk's lies
“So, let’s go check out the new cars in our auxiliary lot.” ‘Hey, isn’t this the police impound lot?’ “…”
I’d say it’s a thieves free for all, but I personally wouldn’t steal a crappy Tesla if you paid me!
Keys. Spray paint. Cmon Long Beach, get creative. Eggs. Let’s get trashy!!
And 72 hour residential parking without a permit. If this were my neighborhood I would Karen the heck out of these until they were towed.
It would be a shame if someone put anti Musk bumperstickers on those cars.
But there is the adrenline rush of sitting on the patio waiting for parts of the building to fall on you.
Taking up residence spaces aye?????🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
Except to Indians. They seem to be beholden to Elon as they all continue to buy Teslas.
Is this legal? They're taking up spots from residents.
[ Removed by Reddit ]
Sure would be a shame if they were damaged in an unsellable way.....
Why not just have them drive around and work as robotaxis?
lol. Are they just making too many now?
Don't superglue the door handles down or JB Weld the tires to the pavement... Whatever you do!
Is this legal?
It should. That's what Waymo does.
Ironically there are other Superchargers adjacent to Costco stores, and they have the best hot dog deal on the planet.
Grab some bird food…
Long Beach? Sounds like they’re waiting to be loaded on a ship.
A fillable paint dauber bottle and a bottle of DOT-3 Brake Fluid makes a neat "invisible paint pen" that allows you to write secret messages in automotive paint that can only be revealed by a car wash
There we go!! I love it!
Fun fact, you can buy canned vegetables by the case for around 25 cents per unit.
Soup, for my family.
They already are paying for a sh*tload of parking in long beach. It must've overflowed the lot that they paid for. Where is this OP, we need to start calling parking enforcement, cars are not to be parked for more than 72 hours in long beach on the street in the same spot
[ Removed by Reddit ]
that's what is known as a "honeypot"
Parking is already tight in most of those neighborhoods - I would be PISSED if I couldn’t park on my street
Garbage cans
Likely illegal regardless - most cities have laws agains using public streets for storage of non-personal vehicles. Ask any Turo host.
Tow company bout to make bank.
They have been doing that in front of Target in South Medow Austin,Texas
This needs to be top comment. These cars are on paper tags, NOT dealer plates, meaning they’ve been registered. Would love to know who/what these cars are registered to.
Call the city on as many of these as possible l
Why do they have license plates? I assume they can't be on the street w/o one, but I don't see e.m. shelling out the dough for that
They’re paper dealer plates.
More abuse of the commons from private corporations with delusional valuations.
Good link!
> I also wouldn't be surprised to see all these cars sitting on cinderblocks with the wheels missing once the gangs know about it. Huh. Tesla seems to use the same bolt pattern as many Hondas- 5x4.5inch or 5x114mm.
but if there's multiple cars, they would have overlapping fields of vision
bird feed delivered via drone, so the cameras never catch you
bird seed
And I'm waiting until September for my new model y.
it'd be also awful if some masked stranger bought a 50lb bag of bird feed and spilled some on every car.
It's always a business person that does that. But not all business people do, far from it
Marks, we call them marks.
Did no one else notice the second picture is a registered vehicle and the plates expired in 2020? That alone shows that these pictures are several years old...and at least that one is not new - it was purchased and licensed by someone.
Oust. Musk. Today.
business as usual
Yup, thought so too... Probably bought by spaceX
I doubt unsold, they are just waiting for the customers to pickup their delivery car.... try buying it ain't that easy to get your car.
Temp tags, they’re sold to the dealership and now considered used?
You seem to have, unwittingly, created a perfect setup for my [Parrot sketch rewrite](https://www.reddit.com/r/RealTesla/comments/1mf0ebt/comment/n6eawe5/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)!
I believe cans of automotive spray paint can also be purchased from those outlets, in case anyone notices any scratches on these vehicles that could do with being touched up. Of course precise colour matching is very important. If you are colour-blind, be very careful, lest you get it wrong, and are mistaken for a member of #TeslaTakedown!
Customer: I just sent you $60k for my Tesla! Where is it? Tesla: oh cool, we parked it on a random public street 1.5 miles from our dealership where it’s currently being ticketed, and god knows what else.
Everywhere in CA has a homeless problem.
Tesla probably wants thieves to hijack their cars - SO they can collect the insurance money!
Sitting on those public streets, how long before they get the personalized schwasticar branding?
Have em towed.
So are they ordering more supplies than they can sell how does this work?
Those looks used
Surplus mobile surveillance equipment
These things will never sell. They will probably get exported to India.
You should complain and have them towed
There's a flaw in your logic. The tow lot will become the new parking lot for these vehicles 😂. Yes, I know. Means more fines will rack on..
[deleted]
why the temp plates if they arent sold? is this a new thing?
[ Removed by Reddit ]
Are those plates real? I doubt they registered new cars… to then sell later as… new? is this corporate fraud? Maybe some calls to law enforcement and local investigative reporters
Problem is each one is fully customized in so many ways that only that buyer has that exact way they wanted it , if it was just a car that they all ate the same then anyone cad just get the model they want faster since anyone can just take the ones that are available right away since they are all the same but they allow to much customization.
Temp tags
If the city refuses to deal with this abuse of public space by the richest man on earth…
Elon is desperately trying to undo the damages that he has done ruining people lives. Unfortunately for him, people will never forget what he did and his products will continue to suffer. In the end his board of directors will probably just oust him out
I think if the board of directors had the ability to oust him, they would have done so after the salute, after the Cybertruck failure, after the DOGE debacle, after his son shushed the President, after <gestures at everything>
Have them towed 😂
Or as the locals call it, “the blank canvas” .
They must be sitting on a massive pile of unsold old stock. All these cars are the older styling.
Report them all for for parking over 72 hours.
Thats how a autistic " genius" runs a company. Don't you know anything???
That should be illegal as the street parkings should not be for a corporation but the resident. In particular long term parking like it is the case. I am surprised people just don't feel free to damage those because they are in the open and this is irresponsible from Tesla.
I wonder if they are real and I wonder if they can still legally sell the car as new.
He is not going to get out of his bad karma anytime soon. He is trying to get the left's pity by throwing some criticisms on trump here and there but he asked for it.
Nothing wrong with being a fan of car or tech. But not owning one, that’s where you lost me.
These are used Tesla, likely sold and waiting to be picked up.
…bringing down property values.
They don’t even pay their vendors, why pay for city parking
[ Removed by Reddit ]
Well, the batteries and motors are definitely worth money. The rest of the car... not so much.
You'd think after what was happening to Teslas during the time Musk was running DOGE, they'd realize this is a bad idea. But maybe Tesla is just planning to file insurance claims or write them off the books.
Either insurance claim or just write them off the books as a loss,
Apparently Tesla is self insured. None of this makes any sense, and they just paid Musk a $65 billion bonus this morning.
Things like this make me glad I sold my Tesla stock.
They arev Robotaxis waiting for rides. /s
I don’t think these are new, the new design came out 6 months ago.
Take out the batteries and sold as battery wall, the car use for parts, problem solved?
Tessler gonna be boom in 5 months!
Tesla found a lot near my house that has about 50 vehicles, many high end. About 10 CT’s and a handful of Plaid models. Not sure what’s up with it but I’ll be checking it out once a week to see what becomes of it.
Really hope they don’t get vandalized
Like there isn’t a huge lack of street parking already here. Where in LB is this (asking for a friend)?
Ooo man I would be having a lot of fun with those if I saw them around my neighborhood.
You must have decent parking around there (I'm assuming near the dealership on Spring). You know those cars would have been ruined first day if they tried that shit in most of our parking-fucked neighborhoods lol
Atlantic & 33rd near Target.
Would really suck if [reddit TOS]
>Where I live if a vehicle has not moved in 72 hours it’s abandoned and the last registered owner is notified and they’re not moved they get towed. I know, this is offtopic, but what the fuck kinda smoothbrain dipshit shit law is this? I'm sick in my apartment, I'm gone for holidays, I'm using my motorcycle mostly or a car stays stationary for whatever myriad of reasons = asshole neighbor notifies city: HAHA, GET TOWED FUCKER! And I thought Texas dildo laws were stupid.
I’m on the fuck Elon and Tesla bandwagon to a degree but there is something going on here that people aren’t seeing. Those vehicles are registered. The paper plates on the back are provided by the DMV, not a dealer. Dealers can’t print TOPs without a reported sale to the DMV. That means they are sold. But who are they sold to? Curious if Elon bought back his physical inventory that couldn’t sell to stop the massive hole burning in Tesla’s financial statements due to depreciation. And when I say Elon, I mean the actual people that are somehow keeping the company running because I bet he just shouted at people to fix it rather than dealing with it himself. Either way, this is fucked and should not be a thing whatthefucksoever. Hope every single one of them gets towed/impounded AND Tesla does in fact own them so they get double whammy’d with impound fees.
Cuz no one wants those pieces of shit, they can be left anywhere without worry.
The pre-refresh models right before the Juniper release have black wheel covers. These are all from before late 2023.
lol I don't think they mean that the law says you literally to move your car every 72 hours. It applies to illegally parked cars, parked cars with no tags, broke down on the shoulder, etc.
I'll take one for $2k.
Stickers are too small put that throng that NYC is using.

Would be a real shame if somehow eggs fell on them on a nice and sunny day.
Sure would be a shame if someone mowing those lawns ran over a bunch of rocks
$26 Billion… Elon can pay for it (but won’t). https://fortune.com/2025/08/04/elon-musk-pay-package-tesla-compensation/
What a California thing, classic.
Have you considered domestic terrorism?
pfft, a small pebble under the valve cover... re-tighten the cover until you just hear air escaping, then back off a quarter turn.
You don't buy things with valuation; you buy things with cash flow.
Oh, that's fucking brilliant.
Is that how one company purchases another company? Thru cash flow? You seemed to be misinformed
I would actually consider getting a swastikar if they actually paid me to drive it and park it. Until then hard pass, momma didn’t raise no Nazi lover.
Take one they are free 🤷🏻♂️
Tow tow tow tow
Maybe Tesla should just stop making cars for a while
My car burglarized in Long Beach.
I'd argue its already a case study. A case study that shows how both people and institutions will tolerate years of lies, insider/self dealing, regulatory cheating, consumer contempt, government graft/payoffs.... if the gain is short term and the damage is long term. Has \*anyone\* paid attention to the shit Musk has done in the last 15 years? I know people like the cars (I don't), but how foolish must people be to trust this company?
They need to tow them. Let them pay a tow lot daily for every car they’re doing this with.
Lots of companies big and small do this, but it’s far from being the norm. Worth noting that some jagoff private citizens take advantage of public good for personal profit as well.
Genius, they’re gonna print money! 🤣
Yuge
My city has this too. I’ve never heard of anyone getting called in for a non-abandoned car sitting for more than 72 hours. If they do plan on towing you, they attempt to contact you first. Honestly it takes so much time for the city to actually get around to removing abandoned cars, I can’t imagine it being an issue.
Any Teslas dumped on private property without owner permission, or parked in public outside of parking laws, should be towed. Tesla can pay to retrieve them from the impound lot.
I'm pretty sure Tesla don't have any remaining pre-facelift Model Ys unsold. Why would they be paying license and insurance? Surely renting a lot would be cheaper.
Tesla doesn’t pay insurance, they’re all self insured. Pretty sure those licenses are dirt cheap or free with their dealership license, they’re definitely not paying full retail for paper dealer plates. Why would a private person or corporation have dealer plates? Why would a person/corporation buy 12+ Teslas and then proceed to park them in a residential neighborhood for so long that they get tagged with a tow warning notice? Maybe these were lease returns, or maybe they were NOS, or demos, whatever they are, they’re owned by Tesla, and they’re parked in my neighborhood.
This is happening in Downey too at the stonewood Center mall parking lot by the old Sears location. There is a new Tesla dealership in Norwalk and they're parking they're overflow cars here in Downey. the Norwalk Tesla dealership already has pretty bad reviews, so I don't think these cars are going to be moving very quickly lol.
