Is Elon convinced his relative media absence will bring back the liberal customers that now loath him?

CompoteDeep2016 2025-08-01 09:25

Well done Sweden. Show crazy nazi glorifying, dangerous, imbecile megalomaniacs the middle finger. That's the reaction I expect of people with moral values. A couple of assholes will always be there but - 85% is what I expect from a good society

neliz 2025-08-01 09:28

I agree, 40-50% is okay, but a nearly 90% drop in sales is how you bankrupt a Nazi quickly.

Fickle_Ad5180 2025-08-01 09:31

As a Swede, Im contributing to this Considered buying a tesla for years, finally went with an Xpeng instead :)

[deleted] 2025-08-01 09:35

No matter what brand you chose, you're part of Tesla dropping from first to eleventh among EV sales. As long as you did a purchase you're content with which is not Tesla, I'm all for it!

CompoteDeep2016 2025-08-01 09:38

The only treatment and medicine he deserves is losing as much of his wealth and relevance. He will not be able to handle it and I am all in for it

wo01f 2025-08-01 09:48

Why not something european instead?

zippopopamus 2025-08-01 09:54

Its the find out stage for the nazi

Rafxtt 2025-08-01 09:55

He's trying. But won't work. Damage is done. And actually Tesla only offerings are 2 versions of same, 8-9yo car. The refresh they did to 3 and Y is just minor improvements in an old platform. Chinese, Korean and European surpassed Tesla in EV tech. Toyota soon too will have good EV models. Few years ago Tesla was leading EV cars tech by far. They were surpassed and will only get worst going behind all major car makers. It's a meme stock. Stay way from Tesla cars and products - they will be bought or company sold by piece. Warranty claims are already bad to be solved, it only get worst.

codykonior 2025-08-01 09:57

Redacted.

[deleted] 2025-08-01 10:07

Well, things are usually upside-down over there ;)

luv2block 2025-08-01 10:17

[here's a better reuters article] (https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/tesla-sales-drop-sweden-denmark-france-seventh-straight-month-2025-07-31/) Mixed bag. Depends on what timeframe you're looking at. In the past few months their market share and sales have risen MoM, but decline YoY.

[deleted] 2025-08-01 10:28

More meaty source yes, but the fact that they've suffered an almost 86% decrease, and falling from first to eleventh most sold EV on a yearly basis still speaks its own language. Dead cat bounce perhaps? No matter, an increase after such a steep decline, especially with the growth expetations that the company still has even after an insanely high valuation... any market movements not beneficial to Tesla is not what Elon and his stockholding peers would want at this moment.

thepursuit1989 2025-08-01 10:34

That last 15% is likely contracted fleet vehicle sales and a small percentage of imbeciles.

luv2block 2025-08-01 10:35

My guess is they lowered financing costs dramatically (I remember a few months ago they dropped it to 0% for the Y). Also, Tesla does sell used Teslas and count them as sales (I think). So if the cost of a used Tesla has crashed, some people are going to buy a used one because it's just too good a deal not to. Anyway, the trend is definitely down, no question about that. WHich is really bad if they've dropped financing to 0%. That's basically like throwing in thousands in discounts and people still aren't buying.

zombieda 2025-08-01 11:09

These sales trends would be the immediate death of any other car company.

dtyamada 2025-08-01 11:21

Car sales in general tend to increase throughout the year, which is probably why sales have improved MoM. There's always a certain percent of the population that is tuned out from recent events or just doesn't care. 85% YoY still warms my heart a little lol

I-Pacer 2025-08-01 11:22

That collective bargaining dispute has surely not helped in Sweden (in addition to all the other stuff of course).

North-Outside-5815 2025-08-01 11:23

I'll add that the new Nissan Leaf looks to be excellent.

dtyamada 2025-08-01 11:28

Sometimes you hear news that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. This is that kind of news.

mechy84 2025-08-01 12:23

There's no way he can stay out of the public eye that long

tjtj4444 2025-08-01 12:23

There has always been a cycle with more Tesla sales in Sweden the last month each quarter. Probably related to how production is allocated or something. On top of that the RWD variant of Juniper didn't start deliveries until May in Sweden. So an increase MoM doesn't mean much. But a decrease of 63% the first 7 months this year compared to same period last year means a lot. https://eletric-vehicles.com/tesla/teslas-sweden-sales-plunge-85-8-in-july-year-to-date-decline-hits-63/

JohnHazardWandering 2025-08-01 12:25

"No, no, The protesters were paid. People love me!"

opsers 2025-08-01 12:39

Even if it would, why buy a Tesla when there are way better options available at this point? Elon wasted too many resources doing shitty R&D and throwing out junk like useless robots, the Cyber Taxi, and the Cyber Truck. Meanwhile, his political antics have lead to countless talented Tesla engineers jumping ship. They need to catch up, but it's almost impossible for them at this point based on how far they've fallen. The best they can do is cheap out a Model Y and call it a low cost EV, even though it's still too expensive and can't match other EVs that are actually cheaper.

Busy_Lunch_5520 2025-08-01 13:05

It is a very well performing meme stock though. Trading on vibes vs actual fundamentals.

Matt_Foley_Motivates 2025-08-01 13:11

“Trading on vibes” fucking perfect so true bro haha

Exact_Mastodon_7803 2025-08-01 13:18

Very excited for the new Leaf! From what I’ve seen so far it should be a slam dunk!

jason12745 2025-08-01 13:31

163 units. Why bother?

Individual-Praline20 2025-08-01 13:36

Totally agree 👍 Well done Sweden, show everyone how it’s done 🇸🇪

Queenie-Chow 2025-08-01 13:37

Maybe Volvo is giving better deals now there

schtickshift 2025-08-01 13:47

OMG that is an enormous collapse in sales in one of the world’s most brand conscious auto markets.

Momik 2025-08-01 13:50

I mean, we’ll never know because he can’t even fucking do that. He was just all over Twitter saying women are “designed to be traded” or some other disgusting nonsense, and he was just reportedly giving millions to GOP Super PACs, despite all that America Party horseshit.

Momik 2025-08-01 13:53

Honestly becoming a regular schmuck would probably be the healthiest thing for him (and us, obviously). But that’s not really what this timeline is all about now is it.

Purplebuzz 2025-08-01 15:59

People reluctant to support a Nazi and a welfare queen.

BrtFrkwr 2025-08-01 16:39

Not enough Nazis in Sweden, eh?

Jezon 2025-08-01 19:01

My heart goes out to him.

RN_Geo 2025-08-01 21:29

Bullish, amiright??? $TSLZ

LightMission4937 2025-08-01 22:49

If it's down to 0 sales globally id be a happy little camper.

Rafxtt 2025-08-02 01:20

There's only one rule about trading meme stocks: don't put money in it i.e. don't trade. Doesn't matter how valuable the meme stock is. It's like a Ponzi scheme - previous *profits* doesn't mean sh*t, it will collapse. It's only a matter of time.

Busy_Lunch_5520 2025-08-02 14:07

Every time I assume they might fall they rise, it defies all logic to be honest, but I agree with you.

ThomasKlausen 2025-08-02 15:30

Classical "5 years ahead 10 years ago" situation.

woooo hooooo!

[deleted] 2025-08-04 04:28

Looks like fElon bit off a lot more than he could chew, with DOGE..

neonmantis 2025-08-04 10:10

Stock price has been on a downward trend for three years now

neonmantis 2025-08-04 10:11

Sadly the right wing will fund and platform literally anyone. He will always have a home there and is unlikely to ever really be poor. We can dream. I'd like to send him to mine cobalt with the Congolese child miners he has been ruthlessly exploiting for two decades
