*The numbers are in, and it’s not looking good for* [*Tesla*](https://insideevs.com/tesla/) *in Europe. After the first six months of this year, the American electric car maker has recorded a steep 33% drop in sales in the European Union, EFTA markets and the United Kingdom, according to preliminary sales figures from* [*Data Force*](https://www.autonews.com/retail/ane-europe-segments-fuel-type-june-2025-6-months-0722/)*.*
33% drop in sales in Europe, 21% in California, and 100% in Canada. Elmo will be lucky to sell half the amount of cars next year as forecasted.
And stock goes up ! Pretty sure somehow crypto and money laundering. Solid state batteries snd fast charging in 5 years. Tesla had such a lead and blew it. Their cars just look tired and dated.
Shares still up on overnight trading and still going up day after day in recent weeks.
Elon is a huge problem, but it is not only Elon. There is also a massive lack of innovation. All other manufacturers bring new improved models every year. Tesla sits on the old models with minor cosmetic changes. I like my Model 3, but I doubt that my next car will be a Tesla again.
I wouldn't be sure for Canada. They started exporting Junipers from Berlin factory, therefore circumventing the tariffs and hence the 20K price cut. I expect the sales will go quite a bit up in Q3 in Canada...
No chance, Canadians hate Elmo, he wanted Canada to be the 51st state.
It’s even worse if you look at it from a pure economic view: the Tech Volkswagen used underpins every EV from the Group. So with the sales Numbers of VW, Skoda, Audi and Seat combined, the VW Group sold around 300.000 Cars on one electric platform. The Investment Cost can be split on a higher number if cars. Add on that the license fees from Ford that uses VW EV-Platform for their European Models Explorer and Capri, it seems an easy guess which brand is looking better right now. At least in Europe.
I wish this was true but on the Tesla sub-reddit there is a dude who claims he works in a Tesla dealer and he says ever since the price drop, they are getting loads of orders. I guess we will see the actual numbers in September...
Plus the rebate scam.
Plus the sell the Volkswagen EV platforms to ford .
They're counting VW and Škoda separately? Oh right!
Some random on the internet said...lolol
And within the next 2 years they overhaul the platform, not only the Software (Rivian), but also batteries. Especially Software is the current weak point. As soon as this is solved, they are fit for the future. Especially, as the assist systems are already great and large self-driving tests are on the way. Their new motors are highly efficient and the charging speed available in the top brands is level with the Chinese. And Hyundai-Kia is level with Tesla in Europe, too. BMW, Geely and Stellantis right behind.
> Add on that the license fees from Ford that uses VW EV-Platform for their European Models Explorer and Capri, Though the license fees go both ways. The new VW T7 bus is a rebadged Ford Transit Custom.
It was only a matter of time with a stale lineup and competitors introducing new models almost daily
Who is Elmo?

VW makes a far better quality EV than Tesla at a similar price. The comfort of the interior alone makes buying a VW over a Tesla an easy decision. Then throw in how Musk has supported the modern-day Nazi party and the decision is clear. Europe apparently learned their lesson in dealing with Nazis much better than the U.S. did.
ONLY if Musk would have kept his mouth shut this sales decline would not have happened.
Yeah, but Ford was much more desperate to get that EV-Platform than VW with the Transit-Platform. And Ford even was stupid enough to think they would sell more VW-based Cars than VW would sell Transporters.
Tesla was a niche business building low quality vehicles. It relied on selling tax credits to survive. Failing was almost a certainty.
Funding fascism and nazis should probably be avoided.
Not just tax credits - a big part of their sales lead was built on a willingness to use parts that weren't auto-qualified when other OEMs couldn't source them during and after COVID. Tesla didn't build a big sales lead because they were superior, they did it because competitors literally couldn't build vehicles.
Okay but did you see the cyber cantina opening yesterday? Teala is NOT a car company. They’re a cafe company!!!
Their new motors look to be the absolute best bang for the buck. Super high quality at reasonable price.
Investments are now built on memes and prayers, not fundamentals.
I’m confused by everything about Tesla. A long time ago, before they became a household name I had a conversation with a family member about Tesla and they were sceptical. But I reasoned that Tesla having such a head start on the market, they knew that the legacy car makers would catch up eventually but they would use their position to corner the market on battery production. Allowing them to be the global supplier to all auto makers and not have to rely on car sales and service. But instead they decided to double down on the cars and farm out the battery manufacturing to China. Why? Imagine a scenario where Tesla are basically the world’s battery suppliers. I feel like they killed the goose.
I agree, SW updates can only go so far.
Every BEV that VW sells also = one less carbon credit purchase to TSLA.
Tesla enjoyed the early mover advantage and the willingness to compromise on automotive quality standards for faster product introduction. Unfortunately, there is no „killer application“ in the automotive market, which could enable a sustainable market dominance. The bigger muscles of the established major traditional car companies are coming into play.
Just tried a BYD Seal and Sealion7 yesterday and holy fuck how fucking great are these cars. Tesla time is over
Tesla is having bad time everywhere bc of Elmo
Occupe toi de tes fesses !
