But what is it? How will we know... Ah the suspense...

AlabamaHotcakes 2025-07-06 15:08

Is it bullshit? *checks link* It's bullshit.

Inside-Welder-3263 2025-07-06 15:08

He is always selling the same product: convincing unremarkable people with no prospects in life that he is a genius and everything he says is gospel.

mungie3 2025-07-06 15:09

"..The American Party, his newly announced third party aimed at breaking what he calls the 'uniparty' stranglehold of Democrats and Republicans...." Clickbait bs

relentlessoldman 2025-07-06 15:13

I can't stand him but I'll vote for whoever runs in this party. The two big ones we have now suck completely.

vg80 2025-07-06 15:14

Musk supported a party which is known for massive federal deficits then was shocked they created massive federal deficits. Being that naive isn’t going to get my vote.

jaimi_wanders 2025-07-06 15:19

“There’s a sucker born every minute.”

sarcasmismysuperpowr 2025-07-06 15:22

That.... would not be a new product. Maybe just repackaged. (pst... hyperloop, cave submarines, level 5 autonomy, going to mars, going to the moon, going from LA to NY on a rocket)

GMoD42 2025-07-06 15:26

Is it high-quality gourmet bullshit at least?

Grunge4U 2025-07-06 15:28

We could use a party to pull votes from the republican party the way the green party and libertarians have played spoiler against Democrat candidates.

[deleted] 2025-07-06 15:28

At this point it seems like most people who are successful follow that business model.

h1rik1 2025-07-06 15:31

But, self-driving bullshit.

XKeyscore666 2025-07-06 15:33

Doesn’t the word party imply people? Who’s he got? Is it going to be people sending him tapes like Survivor auditions?

distresssignal 2025-07-06 15:40

This is his actual product. Getting people to believe that he’s smarter than he is in order for them to invest in his companies.

Engunnear 2025-07-06 15:44

It’s bullshit that’s been heavily adulterated with pure vapor.

CornerGasBrent 2025-07-06 15:47

Don't count that he won't do the same. You act like Musk is reliable in any way. It was Musk himself who campaigned to get rid of the EV credits then did a 180 this year. If this is about getting candidates who are for EV/pollution credits, it will be about peeling off voters who would vote for Democratic candidates. There's no reason for a pro-EV/pollution credits 3rd party, which I think Musk is just doing this to be pouty and either his 3rd party supports doing things against Tesla's own interests or he's not really opposing the Republicans but is just spending his money on temper tantrum. Where the Musk candidate stands on EV credits will determine which candidate he's peeling votes from and I expect either way it will be amusing.

hashswag00 2025-07-06 15:51

WW2 memorabilia? Actually, he'd just wear it.

No_Boysenberry2167 2025-07-06 15:52

Nobody but his cult followers care.

GhostofBreadDragons 2025-07-06 15:56

Nah he only worry’s about the EV tax credit. If he was still taking his cut, he would be all for the spending, but when they cut him off he got defensive.

NatchJackson 2025-07-06 16:06

Are we certain it is legitimate if he hasn't announced the political party's official color scheme?

Secret-Revolution172 2025-07-06 16:15

Tomorrow tsla will pop 15% on this news

0xfreeman 2025-07-06 16:26

He’s probably got a starter set of republican politicians in his payroll, plus millions of American fanboys and billions of active bots. Pretty decent start. I hope he fights trump to the death (of both).

DistributionLast5872 2025-07-06 16:26

I won’t

radiostarred 2025-07-06 16:27

Trump also pulled Elon's pick to head NASA, which imperils his other massive government contracts. It's just about the money.

[deleted] 2025-07-06 16:32

So what issues of theirs do you support?

AgentSmith187 2025-07-06 16:42

Cute he thinks hes going to get Democratic voters to vote for his party after the whole salute, AfD and DOGE thing.... I mean i could list more shit but.....

AgentSmith187 2025-07-06 16:43

Just another idiot screaming BoTh SiDeS!!!!!111eleventyone He will put fall in line and vote Trump if there is another election anyway. They always do.

Ormyr 2025-07-06 16:48

Surely this will draw all the libertarians and "both sides are bad" centrists, right? All the adamant people who stuck to their morals and didn't vote now have a third option to staunchly uphold their morals and not vote for. /s

JFrankParnell64 2025-07-06 16:55

Whatever it is, don't buy it.

Status_Ad_4405 2025-07-06 17:03

With his charisma he can achieve anything /s

Real-Technician831 2025-07-06 17:14

No, TSLA lives in bizarro land, it will go up when it should go down.

SpudsRacer 2025-07-06 17:18

Elon has no natural constituency beyond incels. What a great idea! /s

FreeLard 2025-07-06 17:22

Sigh. I’m sort of over voting for billionaires who try to manipulate politics to further enrich themselves.

VitaminPb 2025-07-06 17:26

Well he has to distract from Tesla failing somehow. And since he is in charge of Tesla sales now I see this going one of two ways. 1. You need to buy a Tesla to join his party 2. If you buy a Tesla, part of the paperwork will register you to vote as a member of his party.

Maximum-Objective-39 2025-07-06 17:29

Man, with that sort of investor faith and funding he could at least dream big. But no, even the scams feel lame and confined.

FrogmanKouki 2025-07-06 17:35

Whatever happened to Rule number 5?

Apprehensive-Cat-833 2025-07-06 17:48

Or that Tunnel from NYC to the UK. 🙄

Mynameis__--__ 2025-07-06 17:50

>Whatever happened to Rule number 5? When I posted, the article had the title you see here. Publishers now frequently change their titles to test tweaking their engagement numbers.

0xfreeman 2025-07-06 17:50

do those actually still represent a sizeable population? I feel like with the current level of polarization, even the centrists are taking sides

Apprehensive-Cat-833 2025-07-06 17:51

He is trying to sell libertarianism as centrism while trying to breed white babies.

CurrentTreacle8514 2025-07-06 17:58

I've seen this exact same argument by a quite average lawyer and politician to form a new party here, in my small Portugal. Everybody laughed. A few years later he got elected to the parliament with far right ideology and that same populist "do what the others fail to get done". On the last election (May/25) he got 20% and is the second party on the parliament. He recruited all the scumbags available, especially those that are offensive to women, immigrants, disabled people, LGBTQ+, and all that think differently from him.

SentinelZero 2025-07-06 18:03

Full Self Bullshitting

SentinelZero 2025-07-06 18:04

He's also an illegal immigrant/can't be here. Watch him get deported because of that lol

FrogmanKouki 2025-07-06 18:06

Did they change the address as well?

KnucklesMcGee 2025-07-06 18:06

>Musk’s posts made clear he’s still fuming over what he sees as fiscal irresponsibility from both parties C'mon Gizmodo. You know he's mad because he lost his subsidies. He already gutted the agencies coming to investigate his shady business practices.

sonicmerlin 2025-07-06 18:18

This guy never learns. What a self destructive drug addict.

Dewfall-Hawk 2025-07-06 18:28

Remember when the Tesla board argued that the gargantuan benefits package was needed to keep him focused on Tesla?

dharmoslap 2025-07-06 18:34

Meaning charisma of narcissists?? Thanks god Steve Jobs didn’t enter politics.

ad-astra-specta 2025-07-06 18:40

FULL self-drivng bullshit.

jregovic 2025-07-06 19:06

You can’t have a political party that is founded by an oligarch. That’s just astroturfing. Another party is not a solution the political mess we are in. We need to reduce the ability for any party to protect its power through gerrymandering and outdated voting systems. In addition to doing away with gerrymandering, elections should be open, with ranked choice voting. No more casting private party process as part of the electoral system. Let voters decide who the best candidates are and allow everyone to vote for them. There are plenty of places where local elections are open with a runoff when one candidate fails to get 51%. We need to eliminate hyper-partisan influence in politics and law making. We need to make it possible to have a reasonable position on issues that may be in conflict with party dogma. Like a pro-2nd amendment Democrat, or a Republican that may be pro-choice. We need moderation so that we can agree on what the actual problems are and have disagreement on how to solve them.

Pineapplepizzaracoon 2025-07-06 19:33

His shamen needs to dial back his ket infusions or whatever he has him on

UseADifferentVolcano 2025-07-06 19:50

That's a lot of words. You can just say "he lies"

Quirky_Tradition_806 2025-07-06 19:54

Forty four $44 billion buy Twitter, $250 million buys an election, and getting used, abused and dumped by Trump: priceless. For an amusement, I invite you to causally scroll Tesla investors subreddit

ThoughtFormal8488 2025-07-06 20:05

AMERICA PARTY

thebaldfox 2025-07-06 20:17

>He is always selling the same product: convincing unremarkable people with no prospects in life that he is a genius and ~~everything he says is gospel.~~ **that he will make them rich if they invest in his bullshit.**

EnormousGucci 2025-07-06 20:27

He’s just gonna find some tech bro libertarians

EarthConservation 2025-07-06 21:00

Convincing them to invest their entire life savings into him, fully leveraged of course. You almost feel bad for how naive some folks are. They'll be the ones left holding the bag when Tesla's share value ultimately crumbles when it's proven once and for all that all of Musk's promises have always been bullshit high risk gambles with a high chance to fail on account of going all-in on a solution that just about every other expert in the industry said was stupid.

EarthConservation 2025-07-06 21:04

Sadly some people are on reddit supporting this dumb ass party as a mechanism to destroy the Republican party, but the reality is, the destruction of the Republican party may eventually lead to giving this narcissistic apathetic ultra-rich man even more power over our government and lives. This man who thinks the single greatest issue facing humanity is the birth rate... seemingly to justify his impregnation fetish. Yet at the same time... also thinks the single greatest issue facing humanity is the potential sudden demise of all life on Earth... which necessitates spending hundreds of billions of dollars of taxpayer dollars to fund his for-profit private space company's development and mission costs for sending humans to Mars and setting up a colony there. Although, my guess is this is nothing more than a ploy to increase the valuation of SpaceX and make Musk even richer with an even larger voice in our government.

bobber66 2025-07-06 21:23

XXX adult-rated or some other wet noodle kind?

Lacrewpandora 2025-07-06 22:27

Step 1: Support MAGA and piss off democrats Step 2: Lose your company untold $billions in tax credits and carbon credits Step 3: Do a 180 and lash out at MAGA This is that 5D chess the BOD can only find with a $56B price tag.

JohnHazardWandering 2025-07-06 22:38

So they're both totally the same, which is why he spent $250 million to support one of those parties. Sure, buddy.

egowritingcheques 2025-07-06 23:09

The strategy is always to convince people you're selling more than you really are. That's the profit. Eg. If people really knew Nike shoes were just Chinese made shoes they would have no profit. But advertising makes them something else. Nike becomes community acceptance, it becomes group ideology. If people knew those fancy French handbags ere really Chinese handbags there would be no profit. If people knew pasta sauce is faster to make than pasta takes to boil and is cheaper, tastes better and fresher than jar sauce it wouldn't make a profit. Etc etc.

chat-lu 2025-07-07 00:24

A new political party that full self drive into the ground.

journeyworker 2025-07-07 00:35

Hate?? He has been peddling that for a while now.

garcher00 2025-07-07 01:07

He can’t even get a crew out to reinstall my solar panels. This idiot needs to stay out of politics. The political party we need is the paycheck to paycheck party. No billionaires allowed.

paulm1927 2025-07-07 01:54

But if it’s a hyperloop tunnel the negative pressure will offset the positive water pressure giving us a carbon free journey between continents!

That-Whereas3367 2025-07-07 05:24

America needs a parliamentary system with a non-executive president. You wouldn't have any of your current idiots in power.

Sea-Flow-3437 2025-07-07 08:18

Is it Hate as a Service? HaaS?

DisastrousIncident75 2025-07-07 09:15

OP u r BANNED Post is not about Tesla, violates sub rules. Reported

Surviverino 2025-07-07 11:28

I guess he can draw in some of MAGA like MTG who don't approve of Trump after the bombing of Iran.

Emotional_Goal9525 2025-07-07 13:04

All cults seem to devolve into pushing make-believe boner pills eventually.

Emotional_Goal9525 2025-07-07 13:06

Well at least he is not making them drink cyanide laced juice, yet. Mass self-immolation would be quite poetic end to Tesla.

Emotional_Goal9525 2025-07-07 13:09

Rather doubt it. Even if people would believe in some centrist ideology, they probably aren't stupid enough to get affiliated with hasbeen junkie on a clear death spiral.

nlaak 2025-07-07 13:35

> I can't stand him but I'll vote for whoever runs in this party. The two big ones we have now suck completely. You're why we have such a problem now. Deciding to vote for whoever he finds to run just because they're not the other people is the stupidest way to decide how to vote and on par with people that vote straight party lines.

nlaak 2025-07-07 13:36

> OP u r BANNED You don't get to ban people > Post is not about Tesla, violates sub rules. Reported Wow, a rules lawyer who didn't read the rules, what a complete and total shock: >>Any post that does not meet the requirements of Rule 1, but is related to Tesla's sister companies, Elon Musk, or Tesla fan(boi)s, must be flaired as TESLAGENTIAL, or it will be removed.

szornyu 2025-07-07 16:32

In my view, we don't need fElon Muskovite.

FailedDentist 2025-07-07 20:48

Hes basically like a car salesman! Oh wait... he is.

Grunge4U 2025-07-08 00:44

If you don't like it don't comment. Mind your own business.

DisastrousIncident75 2025-07-08 02:53

Don’t support breaking the rules.

Odd-Adagio7080 2025-07-08 06:07

I always thought profit = revenue - cost.

r2002 2025-07-08 06:38

Ah yes, that famous Libertarian principle of government handouts for EVs and solar panels.

egowritingcheques 2025-07-08 07:48

That's sufficient for a bookkeeper.

noceboy 2025-07-08 11:32

* Refreshed

AggressiveGrocery916 2025-07-08 15:05

A hairpiece?

Odd-Adagio7080 2025-07-10 05:48

Why yes. Yes it is. Although those terms are broken down into many different categories. But profit equals total revenue minus total costs. That’s it. You were mistaking the word “profit” for “marketing” and brand appeal.

Pancheel 2025-07-10 16:44

New party, so the dominant parties will seek him for the decisive power of maybe 2 representatives that will supposedly incline the balance into one or other side. It is sooo stupid, but I'm sure it will work because stupidity works amazingly in the great USA.
