Dead brand. Wanted one 5 years ago. Will never buy one now.

[deleted] 2025-07-03 01:40

Thanks for the link!

[deleted] 2025-07-03 01:40

You share the same opinion as about a million other people!

L-WinthorpeIII 2025-07-03 02:17

😂 Sure it is!

T1442 2025-07-03 02:21

Bought one 7 years ago. Will never buy another now.

phoenixmusicman 2025-07-03 03:20

Same. Wanted one in my early 20s. Now I won't touch the brand with a 100 meter long pole.

simplethingsoflife 2025-07-03 03:58

I find the new models look ugly. I saw a new Y today and it’s strange looking.

SnooSprouts4376 2025-07-03 04:11

No worries. Using Archive.ph you can just about unpaywall anything. Ironically I have a paid Bloomberg subscription however to share I usually have to unpaywall 🙄

crackednutz 2025-07-03 04:15

Tesla was innovation at one point, now it’s just meh. I would buy a Chinese EV if they were offered in the US over Tesla now.

Ok-Wasabi2873 2025-07-03 04:21

Chinese coffin back

Exciting_Turn_9559 2025-07-03 04:33

Every time I see a model Y drive by I am quite certain there is a good person inside who is deeply embarrassed by Tesla's failure to discipline the nazi junkie who runs the place.

xKronkx 2025-07-03 04:41

I took a Lucid lease and the build quality compared to my 3 is night and day

Soft-Post-2633 2025-07-03 05:04

I have one MYP as daily for shopping runs (one of four cars, plus two ///M and Merc), never getting new Teslur shitbox. EVER.

Soft-Post-2633 2025-07-03 05:05

Normal Teslur shitbox nowadays, eww.

sonicmerlin 2025-07-03 05:06

No lucid store nearby sadly.

KnucklesMcGee 2025-07-03 05:22

I do that, except when I see a recently purchased Juniper Model Y

whawkins4 2025-07-03 05:51

They did? Huh. Didn’t notice.

yellowbin74 2025-07-03 06:05

Number is probably a lot higher

fastwriter- 2025-07-03 06:46

There is a very important word in this Article: US-centric. That’s the main Problem with US Media an Analysts. They simply do not have any knowledge of things happening outside the US. That’s why so many are falling for the Trillion Dollar-Market-Scam for autonomous Cars. No, you can not extrapolate from a possible US market volume to Global. Because in other Countries something called Public Transport and walkablenand cyclable Cities exist. The same Mechanism let US Analysts underestimate Chinese Car Manufacturers. Just because they are not allowed to sell their Cars in the US does not mean that this is true for the rest of the World.

peakedtooearly 2025-07-03 07:00

Yeah, the refreshed models are like a badge of stupidity.

Underradar0069 2025-07-03 07:07

Doesn’t matter. They don’t care. It is still a trillion dollar company

Valoneria 2025-07-03 07:50

Idk, i dont give people the benefit of the doubt anymore. He has been unhinged for years, but he went absolutely rails off when he bought Twitter. Thats a lot of effing Teslas sold in that time period

Exciting_Turn_9559 2025-07-03 07:52

Also the Wankpanzer doesn't get a free pass.

Exciting_Turn_9559 2025-07-03 07:59

The cars are so generic and have had so few updates over the years that it's very hard for a casual observer to know when they were purchased. As time passes it will be increasingly damning to own a Tesla, but I don't expect the company will be around much longer anyway.

NoRedThat 2025-07-03 10:58

Tesla was always about value shaming via wealth. Those who could afford to buy one also loved the moral high ground it gave them because they weren’t using fossil fuels.

Aggravating-Ad8192 2025-07-03 11:26

EV market is over due to tax credit going away, secondary market will freeze up due to disappearing tax credit. Teslar, rivian, over, no EV credits no sales, people will purchase hybrid performance cars

[deleted] 2025-07-03 11:36

The government won’t be subsidizing 20% of the lease on those any more. Curious how it does

North-Outside-5815 2025-07-03 11:43

And why would you. Five years ago they looked decent due to lack of competition. Now they are cheaply built garbage with misleading advertising and inflated claims on range.

North-Outside-5815 2025-07-03 11:45

Are European EV:s available in the US? I’ve been under the impression that it’s very hard to export cars from the EU to the US. Citroën never made it there, I think.

Ddarcy1 2025-07-03 12:09

Europe uses a different charging mechanism than the USA. There are stories from the UK where supplying imported a Tesla (don’t know why) and couldn’t get the charger changed or other features to work. Outside of Tesla the VW id4 charger is deifferent as well from the US. So makes no sense to buy / import anything like that

North-Outside-5815 2025-07-03 12:18

Seriously? That sounds bizarre. /edit I checked it. What a stupid situation once again. Still, if the difference is mostly limited to different connectors, that shouldn’t be too much of an issue for the importer.

KnucklesMcGee 2025-07-03 13:38

Oh yeah, I thought that went without saying.

bluethunder82 2025-07-03 13:41

I think once you have a certain amount of money and manufacturing resources available to you, you have a moral obligation to become Batman. Elon chose to be a Nazi.

Automatic_Soil9814 2025-07-03 13:42

At first I wanted a Tesla but I couldn’t afford it. Years passed and I got to a place where I could afford one but didn’t need one. Now I’m about to need a new car but now the brand is too closely associated with the psychotic CEO in Trump politics. I wish I could’ve enjoyed a few years of Tesla ownership, but it looks like I missed the boat. Luckily there are other better options.

Exciting_Turn_9559 2025-07-03 14:48

Elon's incompetence and willingness to lie about things he didn't understand during the shambolic twitter acquisition signalled that nobody in their right mind would trust a self-driving vehicle he was selling. The cybertruck was another sign. I was already done with Tesla before the nazi salute, DOGE, and data theft. And you're right, the cars are basic and riddled with design flaws.

Exciting_Turn_9559 2025-07-03 14:51

You get it.

phate_exe 2025-07-03 15:14

Only the ones that are sold at VW/Audi/BMW/Mercedes/Volvo/etc dealerships for the north american market. Importing cars is a pain for a whole bunch of reasons until the car is 25 years old.

👍

T1442 2025-07-03 17:10

I will be looking at the Rivian R3. My 3 replaced cars like the G37x and WRX AWD cars and compared to the premium gas cars the saving was a lot for me. It was just a snappy AWD economical to drive car for me. Back in 2018 it was amazing how much of the UI.. like a lot.. was not even finished. I think I got lucky as well. The seats, steering wheel can general car minus the upper control arms, have held up well. Years ago I used a Y cable to add a CAN-bus Bluetooth OBD2 and purchased Scan My Tesla to keep an eye on the battery pack. [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.emon.canbus.tesla](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.emon.canbus.tesla) The cells in my pack are still very well balanced when looking at them at the top and bottom state of charge so I'll gladly keep it until it blows up or after the R3 has been out two or three years.

T1442 2025-07-03 17:27

I am more concerned with service centers. For Rivian the stores are far away but there is a service center less than 30 miles away.

sonicmerlin 2025-07-03 18:42

Yes I meant service center

donttakerhisthewrong 2025-07-03 19:59

They were fine with racism at the factories. Elon molesting flight attendants, Elon polluting, Elon calling a hero that saved kids trapped in a cave a pedo. Are they really fine people?

minorsatellite 2025-07-03 23:38

Ditto. As much as I would like to own one still today, as long as Leon is still in charge, no way that I can pull the trigger.

HebrewHamm3r 2025-07-04 00:20

Bought mine almost 9 years ago now and same

SocialJusticeAndroid 2025-07-04 04:15

Womp womp

SocialJusticeAndroid 2025-07-04 04:24

They need to have a network subscription. I will never pay for an individual subscription, that would be a hassle. But if I could pay one subscription for five or ten of my top publications, I would do that.

LancelLannister_AMA 2025-07-04 07:36

JEEBUS

runnyyolkpigeon 2025-07-04 20:52

Wouldn’t touch one with a 12” ruler.

scyoung121 2025-07-05 13:46

I owned two. Won’t own another. And as far as their refresh goes. They are basically the same as they’ve always been. They are nothing without their software.

Super-Base- 2025-07-05 17:19

Aging lineup, no promised future models, Elon busy pretending to be a politician.

Mrwhatsadrone 2025-07-06 09:12

Starting at 70k….

high_freq_trader 2025-07-06 10:46

It’ll hurt the US market, but won’t impact non-US markets. The US market only comprises about 7-8% of the global EV market.

Horror_Response_1991 2025-07-07 00:33

As soon as Elon did the Nazi salute the board should have cut him immediately.  They didn’t so the death spiral has begun.  They can only fake sales numbers for so long.

MayContainRawNuts 2025-07-07 13:04

Can I ask about your experience of build quality? We dont get tesla where I live, we barely get electricity. But I traveled the US and got into teslas as a taxi. Almost all of them had missing internal panels, rips in seats, plastic bits falling off. Was that your experience or wasi just unlucky and got taxis that had been around the block few times?

nissan_nissan 2025-07-08 13:52

Permanent brand damage. Also very minimal improvements
