From the article: Tesla’s stock (TSLA) crashed by as much as 5% in pre-market trading after President Trump threatened to set DOGE on Elon Musk, who has been criticizing his ‘Big Beautiful Bill’. After being kindly shown the door to the White House last month, Musk had a brief moment of clarity and started to criticize Trump and the Republican party, which he helped elect with almost $300 million of his own money in the 2024 elections. He highlighted how Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” is expected to increase the deficit and debt. The Tesla CEO even linked Trump to Jeffrey Epstein, something that has been well known for decades, but Musk conveniently ignored it as he was backing the President and wearing hats that read, “Trump was right about everything.” Musk quickly calmed down and even apologized for “going too far” and started praising Trump again. That didn’t last long. Over the last few days, as the Senate attempts to pass Trump’s budget and tax bill, Musk has renewed his efforts to halt the legislation. The CEO appeared to renew the attacks after the Senate updated the bill to kill the EV incentive sooner and to increase taxes on solar and wind projects. However, Musk said that he doesn’t mind EV and renewable energy subsidies going away, but he believes that fossil fuel subsidies should also be removed, which is not in the plans at all. Trump campaigned on Musk’s money, claiming that he would get America to “drill, baby, drill” again. The CEO went as far as threatening any Senator who vote for the bill, all Republicans, to face his money in their next primary. He added that if the bill passes, he will create a new “America Party.’ Musk’s attacks have focused on the bill itself and the Republicans voting for it, but Trump likes to call it his bill, and unsurprisingly, he is unhappy with Musk. Last night, he took to Truth Social to highlight again that Musk “would probably have to close up shop and head back to South Africa” without US government subsidies. The President then suggested that he could have DOGE, a department that Musk created, go after him and the subsidies that his companies get: *Elon Musk knew, long before he so strongly Endorsed me for President, that I was strongly against the EV Mandate. It is ridiculous, and was always a major part of my campaign. Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one. Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!*

Hell yeah. The two former lovers are fighting again. However the fights need to STOP. I propose we DEPORT both of them back to where they came from to really MAGA. All in favor?

FirmRoof977 2025-07-01 11:22

No one wins with Trump, look at history. Elon, had everything - the respect of all who believe in Green Energy - once the honored guest of every world leader today the new Rudy!

Sales and margins in the shitter? BULLISH! Buy buy buy! It’s like these idiots who were buying up Bed Bath and beyond shares when they were going to announce bankruptcy. Retail traders are the dumbest mfers alive

WinterWontStopComing 2025-07-01 11:30

And only if it’s broken because it’s hands stopped. Unless you have adhd, I feel like a clock smashed into numerous pieces is a good analogy for my time keeping abilities

Sockoflegend 2025-07-01 11:32

Tesla stock holders are their own breed. They are queueing up to underwrite felon's debts. I hope this is the run that bursts the bubble but we have been here so many times before

nommynam 2025-07-01 11:34

Let's see it fall to sub-$150 and then we can start talking about a "crash" in its price. It was trading at $210 this time last year FFS. The reality is this stock continues to trade at insane multiples, pump primed by insane people. I've given up hope it will ever trade in line with its fundamentals as an ex-growth stock.

SpectrumWoes 2025-07-01 11:37

That’s why I buy and hold $TSLS and $TSLQ at the peaks of $TSLA, I’m patiently awaiting the crash.

Apart_Expert_5551 2025-07-01 11:41

National Socialist Party? Who could have forseen this?

Apart_Expert_5551 2025-07-01 11:43

The fight between two huge narcissists will be epic. I expect Musk to start funding campaigns against people who vote for the bill.

Tesla clock has FSD: Frequently Scary Digital, so expect it to be on fire when the alarm sounds.

During_theMeanwhilst 2025-07-01 12:16

4% isn’t a crash for a stock valued 20x times over any comparable company. And that’s before you consider the irreparable damage to its brand.

RockyCreamNHotSauce 2025-07-01 12:20

Elon knows Tesla needs two years to push for HW5 to achieve a profitable FSD/robotaxi business. Without EV credits, Tesla is not going to survive till then. He’s backed up to a cliff. It’s either fight or fall.

-Bezequil- 2025-07-01 12:23

paulm1927 2025-07-01 12:30

I almost chocked on my mandarine napoleon liqueur at him being the next Rudy (it is amazingly good, you should source a bottle or two!!) No one should wish “being Rudy” on anyone! Imagine if Borat’s assistant was being propositioned by Elmo on a bed struggling to get his belt undone! Image the mental distress of seeing a mangled dick. Inhumane!

deZbrownT 2025-07-01 12:30

MarchMurky8649 2025-07-01 12:44

Last part sounds better in German - Musk über alles hinausragt - perhaps he should incorporate Musk über alles into an anthem for his new party! Or he could use his first name, scans better... Elon, Elon über alles, Er ist der Edge Lord von allen! Unbeknownst to all but a very select few, Section 1 of Article Two of the United States Constitution only applies to boring normies who haven't realised that, if you can get enough people to chant the date of Hitler's birthday frequently enough, all the NPCs step aside and let you take any Government office you want! At least that's what his new friend, the disembodied head of a very tranquil horse, told him, in strict confidence recently, in their regular k-hole hangout. Elon had known for years this was all a game, he just had to find the Easter eggs! As he said, years ago, in a podcast with Joe Rogan, "If you assume any rate of improvement at all, games will eventually be indistinguishable from reality" before concluding "that it's most likely we're in a simulation". \[He really did say that on the Joe Rogan podcast\]

FrogmanKouki 2025-07-01 12:46

So so so many times that I have lost faith in meritocracy. Remember just a couple years ago (Jan2023) it hit $99 and it felt like reality was settling in, yet here we are...

Radarhog1976 2025-07-01 12:51

I said good chance of 2xx.00 today. It’s happening. Tesla should be another 275.00 lower to get to fair value.

Elon will call it the socialist national party.

Bagafeet 2025-07-01 12:59

Musk thought he'd treat Trump as he does _his_ baby mamas.

Grunge4U 2025-07-01 13:00

I read that Musk threatened to see anyone voting for this bad bill be defeated. Trump attacks Musk by weaponizing our government which he does daily and he threatens anyone who doesn't vote for the bill will ousted in their primary. It's so nice to see the 2 pieces of human garbage go at each other, they totally deserve each other.

Bagafeet 2025-07-01 13:01

Yeah the stock price hasn't yet considered the irreparable damage to the brand.

FairyKnightTristan 2025-07-01 13:11

Yeah, because one of the stock's only saving graces was that Elon basically had the president in his pocket. Elon burned that away and then turned him against him.

kevendo 2025-07-01 13:13

Everything Trump Touches Dies American, you are no different. He will leave you in his destructive wake, like everything and everyone else in his worthless life. This should have ended at the escalator.

JRLDH 2025-07-01 13:20

It’s because retail traders are believers and not economists. Tesla has this unique product that beats what people have known all their lives in several aspects (esp. power). So they think that Tesla’s success is sustainable. Combine this with the fact that some made serious money with this stock and all economical reason leaves the building.

JRLDH 2025-07-01 13:21

Musk tends to submit to power. He will shut up now that Trump humiliated him with the DOGE threat.

CivilWay1444 2025-07-01 13:24

These guys are all bipolar.

randskarma 2025-07-01 13:27

Yup, you are absolutely right. You can't make it up.

During_theMeanwhilst 2025-07-01 13:31

Or the liabilities associated with retrofitting hardware to make FSD possible for customers who’ve already paid for it. Or the fact that robots and Robotaxis could not possibly account for the anticipated upside unless he won and everyone else offering the same lost which isn’t going to happen. The lead was squandered and the company stock price must eventually fall to earth. It hadn’t even started yet.

Beezelbubba 2025-07-01 13:40

First of all, its not HW anymore, its Ai. So when Ai5 gets released (with no upgrade path for 4) it will include lidar, and it still wont work well

RockyCreamNHotSauce 2025-07-01 13:46

The AI doesn’t work because the underlying HW is not enough. Lidar/radar and 10X chip power is what I mean by HW5 that works.

ad-astra-specta 2025-07-01 13:47

Tiny orange hands.

Beezelbubba 2025-07-01 13:47

Right, but they are not calling it HW for the hardware in the vehicles, they have rebranded that to Ai as another stock pump

Southern-Remove42 2025-07-01 13:59

Is 5% really a crash? IMO gotta be 20%+ for a crash. This is simply a major correction

Secret-Revolution172 2025-07-01 14:07

I still can’t believe these idiots are still propping this up. Without the government welfare checks coming in, tesler is toast. Making those cars that nobody wants more expensive. With lower sales and FSD that can selfdrive with an employee in the passenger seat and a remote safety operator 😂

NotFromMilkyWay 2025-07-01 14:15

There are three things that make the Trump presidency very entertaining so far: His fear of nukes, his hate for people richer than himself - and him desperately wanting a peace nobel prize.

Seems Rudy is launching his comeback, thanks to the current admin. He has a new job with the Dept of Homeland Security. Feel more secure already? "President [Donald Trump](https://www.cnn.com/politics/president-donald-trump-47) announced his appointments to an advisory council inside the Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday, with a list that includes a right-wing news commentator, former lawmakers, Trump’s former attorney Rudy Giuliani and a top former campaign adviser.... ...The list includes right-wing political commentator Mark Levin, as well as Giuliani, who helped lead efforts to try and overturn the 2020 election results and was later sued for defamation by two Georgia election workers; a lawsuit he lost before a jury in Washington, DC." source: CNN

FirmRoof977 2025-07-01 15:45

crashes? it has a PE ratio of 175. GOOG is currently 19. IBM is 50. Even if you thought this stock has a bright future with all the broken promises and you believe the hype about robotaxi, robots, AI, etc.. it is still wildly overvalued. I wouldn't touch this stock unless is was sub $100/share.

Tesla is not just a car company. Its a battery company, technology company, solar company, ai company, robotics company, and more… it trades at a reasonable multiple if you put it into the correct category which is a growth technology company. Tesla should not be compared to Ford or Toyota.

Be_Ferreal 2025-07-02 01:13

For those who prefer math to emotion w/ investment decisions. Tesla car sales are $77B. Uber has $44 billion in revenue, and robotaxis will significantly eat into it. Optimus will lead a multi-trillion-dollar market as the only competition in the consumer market comes from manufacturers outside the US. You can hate Musk all you want, and Tesla stock makes plenty of sense.

ComonomoC 2025-07-02 01:14

I guess you don’t mind showing their individual P&Ls and factoring the ridiculous amount of lending/debt against government funding that has kept these ventures in business. Their MAIN source of revenue has come from: wait for it….regulatory credits.

Biden EV mandate meant no more ICE sales post 2030 or something like that

UpChuckles 2025-07-02 05:07

There was never a "Biden EV mandate." It was a non-binding goal that set to reduce carbon emissions over time but didn't ban sales of ICE vehicles. [https://apnews.com/article/climate-trump-electric-vehicles-pollution-standards-ae3a35faa376630e494765175aee2c28](https://apnews.com/article/climate-trump-electric-vehicles-pollution-standards-ae3a35faa376630e494765175aee2c28)

During_theMeanwhilst 2025-07-02 05:16

Not sure where the math is. Their vehicle sales are shrinking in the western world. So that 77B EV market may well have peaked. In China Tesla will decline due to a paucity of new models and laggard technology. The assumption that urban robotaxis from Tesla will be more acceptable to people who are rejecting buying his vehicles rather than alternatives is quite a leap. The lack of a LiDAR issue is clearly an impediment given rain and evening sunshine on optical cameras. Optimus is bullshit so far.

DeviDarling 2025-07-02 05:48

Musk served his purpose.  He got Trump in and got Peter Theil access to all citizen and government data. If Musk thought Trump was a good guy that was going to balance the budget and erase the deficit (like Bill Clinton), he really didn’t have a grasp on the backstory that got us to this moment or the history of the man he endorsed.

Yeah the same time CVNA was in the same boat. There were articles saying carvana and bed bath and beyond likely to file for bankruptcy in the same article. And carvana is up 8500% in the short time since. Were people who bought that and are rich also dumb? I will say, carvana looked much more likely to mount a comeback solely due to how quickly they expanded prior to that collapse

Vegetable-Bunch4972 2025-07-02 15:34

Strange crash. Up 4.4%

Shruglife 2025-07-02 19:38

still takin an uber bro

StaySlothin 2025-07-06 02:22

Let’s ignore Optimus for now, the head of that department resigned and they’re apparently redesigning it… Tesla 2024 revenue was $98B, let’s be very generous and say that in 1 year they capture 1/4 of that $44B from Uber - that’s a modest 11% year over year growth. The stock is at a P/E ratio of ~170. For reference a company with actual growth potential: NVDA’s 2024 revenue was $130B and currently growing 80% per year which is very high growth. NVDA trades at a P/E of 50.
