TSLA Terathread - For the week of Jun 23

We laugh at your "giga". For TSLA talk, and flotsam and jetsam not warranting its own post...

Good morning here is the link to last week's Terathread. https://old.reddit.com/r/RealTesla/comments/1lcow9r/tsla_terathread_for_the_week_of_jun_16/

FrogmanKouki 2025-06-23 10:07

I wasn't alive for the dawn of the car. I wasn't alive for the dawn of flight. I wasn't alive for the dawn of space travel. So glad I'm alive for the dawn of 10 geofenced Robotaxis with supervisors and superfans poorly driven "autonomously" in ideal conditions. It really is the beginning of a new age!

CompoteDeep2016 2025-06-23 10:16

A tiny tiny bit of rain expected to come down between tuesday and thursday in Austin. Let's see if its already enough to stop the service. If so, its not useable and an utter failure.

Monk315 2025-06-23 10:37

It's been reported that the safety drivers all have their hand on the door handle with suggestions that it's a kill switch or something.  My alternative theory with zero proof is that it's a discreet "help" button to have a teleoperator take over.

CompoteDeep2016 2025-06-23 11:07

100% a kill switch and maybe the teleoperater gets instant control over the car. I mean right now you can be 100% sure that they have as many teleoperators as they have cars on the road, able to take over any second. of course there is a delay, but i am sure they do everything to lower the latency. Question is how they want to scale it when its 100 or 1000 cars and they have to have a ratio of x teleoperators to x cars. 10:1 or 100:1 or whatever.... damn thats a shitshow

SolutionWarm6576 2025-06-23 12:27

Yahoo finance stated the rollout went “smoothly” and people can breath a “sigh of relief”. Didn’t look like it, from a few of those videos. Lol.

NovelDeal1701 2025-06-23 12:32

Is is deeply funny to me that we have been saying here since the beginning that Teslas will NEVER serve as autonomous vehicles on cameras only, and that Tesla will never succeed in Robotaxies, yet here we are, Tesla has officially launched their autonomous roboraxi service. And now people here in the comments are as always being as negative as possible.  Whether you are fan of EVs/Tesla or not, this is a huge achievement for the company and a massive step towards realizing their market value. And it’s a big step towards a future of safer & more convenient transport, especially because unlike other autonomous companies, customers can actually own these vehicles! In all fairness, congrats to Tesla on this achievement it’s been a LONG time coming.

Slight_Pomelo_1008 2025-06-23 13:15

There are at least 5 auto taxi companies ahead of tsla. Only fans think this is a big success. I just wait and see when the bubble will explode. A 2nd or 3rd company in auto taxi field in US with 1T market cap.

poissonous 2025-06-23 13:21

We are still saying that. We are still not wrong.

Grunge4U 2025-06-23 13:23

Tesla hasn't launched anything resembling autonomous driving. They all have a safety driving ready to take over and are only offering this by invite to Tesla fanboys.

Grunge4U 2025-06-23 13:24

Tesla up in pre market. I'll bet it's way down by the end of the day

No_Pen8240 2025-06-23 13:26

Hahahahahaha! Uber launched a similar size service in 2018 This is not a case of moving the goalposts. . . The goalposts were set by Elon about a decade ago. "Smart summon coast to coast without human intervention". No one cares if they can deliver dozens fo rides in a small geofenced area 7 years after multiple other companies can. But looking at Tesla's perspective - This is a necessary first step, kudos on that first step. It was a lackluster display, but they don't need to bedazzle . . . They just need to avoid accidents and engineer solutions to problems as they arise. what will kill off Uber/Lyft/Waymo/??? = Can Tesla scale faster? or can they scale cheaper? If Tesla pulls off exponential growth, checkmate! They don't even need to achieve Elon's goal of coast to coast summon, just exponential growth within city service limits. If Tesla morphs into Uber 2018 level confidence and only drives during sunny days or other handicaps keep them from truly growing a solution that let's people replace their cars with Robotaxi systems. . . Yeah, that is not impressive.

ILikeCatsAndSquids 2025-06-23 13:38

Dan Ives is a clown.

Zorkmid123 2025-06-23 14:03

It’s funny to me that Tesla has to get all these fanboys to be Robotaxi testers who fly in from all over the country to test in a small geofenced area in Austin. Were they having trouble finding enough local Stans to do the testing?

Cardborg 2025-06-23 14:06

War with Iran is priced in.

Specialist_Arm8703 2025-06-23 14:07

Tesla moons and TeslaQ community once again remain poor

Zorkmid123 2025-06-23 14:08

$tsla up 7% right now lol

Bizonistic 2025-06-23 14:11

and it pumps more than 7% lol

CompoteDeep2016 2025-06-23 14:20

Unless they have a real car crash where the tesla is clearly making a mistake they will sell this as a win even if there are hundreds of minor hickups and probably hundreds of interventions from the teleoperators

CornerGasBrent 2025-06-23 14:28

> Is is deeply funny to me that we have been saying here since the beginning that Teslas will NEVER serve as autonomous vehicles on cameras only, and that Tesla will never succeed in Robotaxies, yet here we are, Tesla has officially launched their autonomous roboraxi service. If there's a person in the front seat it's a taxi not a robotaxi. If having someone in the front seat makes something a robotaxi, robotaxis have been around for decades.

AltRockPigeon 2025-06-23 15:57

Are there more rides happening today or was it a one-day publicity stunt?

lovely_sombrero 2025-06-23 16:01

It looks like the delivery numbers online were updated and the "Europe Daily 5" countries are now the "Europe daily 6" countries, with the UK added. Numbers; 2024Q2: 27,200 2025Q1: 22,900 2025Q2: 22,700

FrogmanKouki 2025-06-23 16:07

Well they don't need to sell those cars they're launching a Robotaxi service in Europe soon.

FrogmanKouki 2025-06-23 16:09

So if a -10% day is manipulation does that mean a +10% is not due to a stock pump event? Also I thought Robotaxi and FSD were priced in 3+ years ago?

jason12745 2025-06-23 16:13

There are only so many 5 minute rides a group of 20 people can take in 10 cars.

CompoteDeep2016 2025-06-23 16:31

I think That was it. Gained 100 billion in market cap. All good

lovely_sombrero 2025-06-23 17:10

Troy; >The numbers changed since my tweet below. 1.6 million Tesla deliveries this year no longer look possible. Analyst consensus is still too high for now, but it’s expected to come down over the next 8 days? >• My Estimate: Below 1.60M units >• Analyst Consensus: 1.68M units >• 2024 Deliveries: 1.79M units

CornerGasBrent 2025-06-23 17:20

Unlimited demand!

wootnootlol 2025-06-23 17:31

Lies. Each robotaxi ride(\*) is going to be booked as a delivery. They'll crush their goals! (\*) in case of the crash it'll be counted as 0.5 delivery.

morbiiq 2025-06-23 18:31

My theory is that they’re getting ready to bail in case the car starts on fire, lol

[deleted] 2025-06-23 18:32

Room for growth - bullish for the stock!!!

theviolatr 2025-06-23 18:32

yea i have seen nothing whatsoever for day 2 from anyone

Radarhog1976 2025-06-23 19:10

Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy in Austin so expect no Robotaxi’s. What a 125 billion joke

IcyHowl4540 2025-06-23 19:11

It appears that the Robotaxi plan to brake the vehicle in case of emergency is for the front-passenger-seat safety operator to \*open the door,\* which disengages FSD by default. If you see the videos, the Tesla employees always have a hand on the open door button, which is sort of disconcerting: [https://fuelarc.com/evs/tesla-robotaxi-drops-off-in-middle-of-intersection-while-handpicked-riders-report-the-performance-was-great/](https://fuelarc.com/evs/tesla-robotaxi-drops-off-in-middle-of-intersection-while-handpicked-riders-report-the-performance-was-great/)

IcyHowl4540 2025-06-23 19:12

Only half-counted if the vehicle is actually sheared in half, otherwise is it was 100% delivered... to the nearest scrap yard

BrendanAriki 2025-06-23 19:35

The only things priced in are lies and short memories. When this bubble pops it is going to be a blood bath.

BrendanAriki 2025-06-23 19:37

I would rather be a poor truth teller than be rich and full of shit.

lovely_sombrero 2025-06-23 20:12

>Xiaomi will officially launch its second electric vehicle, the YU7, on June 26, as announced on their official Weibo account. >Powertrain options include a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with a combined output of up to 365 kW (489 hp) in the standard version. A high-performance variant producing up to 508 kW (681 hp) has also been tested. The YU7 supports an 800V electrical architecture and is equipped with lithium-ion batteries from BYD and CATL. >The YU7 is expected to be priced from 245,900 yuan (approx. 34,100 USD), suggesting an aggressive market strategy to gain traction in the SUV segment.

Theferael_me 2025-06-23 20:57

It surprises me that the figure is even as high as that. I appreciate that not everyone cares about the CEO's far-right extremism but even so... why would you want a car that's so inextricably bound to Musk's repugnant personality.

Sp1keSp1egel 2025-06-24 01:14

Tesla sells every car they make!

FrogmanKouki 2025-06-24 01:43

Same. Also I'd rather not worship a conman that owes the majority of his wealth to lies and government handouts.

doomer_bloomer24 2025-06-24 02:07

I can’t wait for the Robotaxi invites to go to normies so that more fail videos are uploaded. Right now it’s full on “influencer” circle jerk.

ObservationalHumor 2025-06-24 03:56

Honest answer? I think a lot of people are just lazy or don't want to deal with the car buying experience in a lot of cases. Tesla sucks in a lot of ways but they're fairly good at selling and delivering a car pretty easily and quickly. There's plenty of people who just don't want to comparison shop, call around or drive an hour some out of the way dealership to buy a new vehicle. Now obviously there's also a lot of services that do that for other manufacturers or even ICE vehicles but a lot of dealerships won't use them because they make most of their money off service contracts, selling insurance and offering in house financing anyways. Getting someone captive at the dealership to try to push that stuff is a priority for them and they're also the ones you have to deal with in order to get access to lower volume BEV and PHEV models from a lot of manufacturers unfortunately. That's not super appealing to a lot of people in general but especially under socialized younger people who seem to break out in hives if they actually have to talk to someone on the phone let alone say no to a high pressure sales meeting.

Tesla stagnation example: [Model Y LR Juniper charges slower than a 2021 Model Y LR. ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7MEQrCbrvQ) MEB based Ford Explorer crushes them all to 100%, even the 800v based Xpeng G9.

secretlyjudging 2025-06-24 10:15

Do Teslas have video recorders of passengers?

Grunge4U 2025-06-24 12:58

Didn't age well. Go to war and the stock market rises. Makes no more sense than Tesla being valued at 30 times what Ford is.

Digg-Sucks 2025-06-24 16:09

There is a camera inside a regular model Y that is used for driver monitoring, but most likely they didn't add any additional cameras because: 1. That cost $ 2. There will always be a TSLA employee in the front passenger seat

Tind_L_Laylor 2025-06-24 17:52

Is it even continuing, or was it one day only?

banditcleaner2 2025-06-24 18:33

True. As someone that bought two of them, I can tell you that the lack of dealership haggling, dealing with sleazy salesmen, and the ease with which they make delivery is unmatched. If they could improve build quality, not lie about FSD, keep prices where they are, start releasing some new models, and axe elon, I think the company would end up being just fine.

banditcleaner2 2025-06-24 18:35

How does he actually estimate deliveries? Because from what I recall, his estimates were pretty good. Better then analysts as well I believe.

[deleted] 2025-06-24 19:27

This from the Robotaxi pump event: [https://xcancel.com/Factschaser/status/1937579866452275337#m](https://xcancel.com/Factschaser/status/1937579866452275337#m) I guess Tesla hasn't solved the sun glare problem. Maybe they miscounted the photons?

PastTomorrows 2025-06-24 19:32

You guys are haters. Tesla is taking on Big Theme Park and Big Rollercoaster. Soon, every Tesla owner will rake in big bucks by running their own. Bob Iger should have kept giving money to Twitter. Now Disney is headed for the drain. +5% /s

theviolatr 2025-06-24 19:44

CompoteDeep2016 2025-06-25 12:21

Hey Guys, is there a possibility to report incidents to the NHTSA regarding the shitshow going on in Austin Texas? So that they receive all the videos, people already have with TESLA Robotaxi failures? Would be awesome!

Slight_Pomelo_1008 2025-06-25 13:29

Dont rush them. Just let tsla do what they want. They need another 10 years to improve the shit.

CompoteDeep2016 2025-06-25 14:16

I celebrate every single fucking dollar this shitty stock loses until it goes bankrupt. It's a great day so far

Jonesy1966 2025-06-25 14:49

I was so tempted to reply to that with words to the effect that perhaps it serves him right for buying a new Tesla post Musk [ridiculing those concerned about the not-a-Nazi-salute thing](https://www.axios.com/2025/01/23/elon-musk-nazi-joke-adl).

jason12745 2025-06-25 17:29

Even more jarring when you consider Q4 2024 was about 180K units.

RagaToc 2025-06-25 17:31

My sympathy for them is a lot less with them having bought a 60k new Tesla post nazi salute. And the current drop in sales won't do the service centers any good. As there will likely be even more cuts or pressure to scam customers out of money

[deleted] 2025-06-25 17:42

It going to get much worse for Tesla in China in the second half. The so-called "ModelY Killer" is launching tomorrow: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCTaES98o9I](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCTaES98o9I) Tesla is toast in China.

FrogmanKouki 2025-06-25 18:10

I hope they're in a long decline, maybe a couple years or more. Seems they've already played their "refresh" cards.

jason12745 2025-06-25 20:00

The Leaf did a refresh. Tesla slapped some lipstick on a pig.

Tind_L_Laylor 2025-06-25 20:01

> The car and tech is great These people never learn.

[deleted] 2025-06-25 20:14

So how long can they keep this influencer scam going in Austin? It's clearly not ready for the public. Seems Elon has gotten himself into a bit of a pickle.

MarchMurky8649 2025-06-25 20:25

I'm guessing it'll be opened to the public quite soon. However I cannot imagine they'll ever be able to get rid of the safety driver, or whatever you want to call him/her, and come September 1st it seems likely the whole thing will be shut down by this new Texas law, unless the safety driver sits behind the wheel, in which case it is just a regular taxi with the driver using FSD (supervised) (which is what it is now, just less obviously!)

FrogmanKouki 2025-06-25 20:28

The Leaf is a new generation.

jason12745 2025-06-25 20:29

I wish they had changed the name :). The Nissan Blade or something super cool. Like Tesla.

sinikl_1 2025-06-25 21:06

These people are insane. If my BEV was humming and hitting 130 degrees \*inside the car\* i'd run away and call the fire department, but instead they think it's normal, and good. "while it was charging the interior would hit like 130-140 degrees while the outside was 100"

sinikl_1 2025-06-25 21:07

The call to call the Mitsubishi Mirage the worst car sold in america while your $60k POS bricked itself under 100 miles.

I have never heard of this car before, but twice in the last few days I have heard it referred to as the worst car ever. https://bsky.app/profile/niedermeyer.online/post/3lsbworlavc2h

poissonous 2025-06-25 22:01

How are we doing on cash flow? * Sales are falling * Margin too * Carbon credits at risk * Bitcoin not moving * Lease returns increasing * Robotaxi revenue of like $420 This has got to break at some point.

lovely_sombrero 2025-06-25 23:56

So what are your Q2 predictions? I'm at *330k.

MarchMurky8649 2025-06-26 02:17

What makes me scratch my head most is there still seem to be e.g. some pension funds with large holdings. They need to invest in shares that will hold up in the medium to long term. I am guessing that the way this is going to go down is that, one day, one of these major holders of stock is going to see the writing on the wall, sell everything off, and trigger an avalanche in the stock price. I am guessing this could end up being the biggest destruction of capital in one day in history! I just wish I could work out when. Will the new Texas robotaxi laws have teeth when they come into force September 1st? That could be the trigger, perhaps, as the only reason the market cap has remained in the hundreds of billions to a trillion range all this time is the belief in Tesla's autonomous driving hallucination.

[deleted] 2025-06-26 02:59

Watuzzi is at 336k.

MarchMurky8649 2025-06-26 04:53

Lots of interesting robotaxi news in the latest Electrified video including rain stopping play for the Tesla vehicles causing the fanboy invitees to have to switch to Waymo, which was able to carry on, and, biggest scoop yet, a parked car confused a Tesla robotaxi so much it seems to have got stuck, tyre made contact with the parked car at one point, and **the safety driver ended up switching seats and driving away!** [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Dg6CMKVZ5w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Dg6CMKVZ5w)

ObservationalHumor 2025-06-26 05:52

Well if they go back to losing money for long enough there's a chance they get booted from the S&P500 which means they get booted from a lot of index funds.

CompoteDeep2016 2025-06-26 08:44

They will play all accounting tricks there are in the book. selling cars to themselves, register them for someone, whatever. it already shows in europe as there a good numbers in some markets, although the numbers were shit in the last couple of months. they need some turnaround story, and they will do everything to fabricate that. i am 100% sure that illegal activities are not off the table for now

CompoteDeep2016 2025-06-26 08:53

This exactly. As long as they are in there, global investors need to buy the stock. its as if once you arrived on that hill, its almost impossible to fall down again. you really have to be fraudulent or caught wigh highly illegal activities. if your business model doesnt work, nobody really seems to care. you will be kept afloat....

TannedSam 2025-06-26 09:59

China looks to be down about 15% from last year.  Europe looks about the same (in the countries where we have data June has been much better than April and May).  If the US is similar then we are probably looking at something like 375k.   320k would mean North American sales are completely in the toilet.  They did 336k last quarter and Europe is definitely going to be up on Q1.  China will be down on Q1, but not nearly as much as Euope will be up.   My guess is they come in around 360-370k, but I really haven't seen any information on how things are going in the US so who knows....

TannedSam 2025-06-26 10:00

BTC doesn't impact cash flow, but will actually be a decent positive for them this quarter.

TannedSam 2025-06-26 10:08

One other thing to note is in the last week of Q1 Tesla registered 21,000 vehicles in China.  This quarter it seems like they have actually lost momentum - week 11 was 15,500 and week 12 was 13,800.  In Q1 it went 15,300 in week 11, then 17,000 in week 12.  So it seems there is a high chance they fall a few thousand more behind Q1 when things all shake out. The flip side is they are doing better in Europe than they did in Q1.  In Q1 they basically had no big push at the end of the quarter, while this quarter the are fulfilling the backlog of refreshed Model Y orders.  Q3 will be a huge flop in Euope as that backlog is gone, but it will be one of the few brightspots in Q2 and should more than offset the decline in China (they will still be way down globally from Q2 last year but should see improvement over Q1).

Inconceivable76 2025-06-26 11:07

lovely_sombrero 2025-06-26 11:10

OMG, not China crossing the South China sea. The South China sea belongs to the US and EU.

poissonous 2025-06-26 11:27

The Norwegian SWF is stuck holding their shares. My understanding is that Tesla is too big to ban (ethical ownership guidelines and governance policy be damned). The fund has a strict policy of tracking the index, and so the best they can do is be slightly underweight TSLA.

BrokeAFpotato 2025-06-26 14:15

Also, Xiaomi YU7 just launched today. The sales will chip away at Tesla's sales in China in the upcoming months.

PortoFlip 2025-06-26 14:29

Chip away may be an understatement. Considering the looks, specs, tech, price and initial tests, I can see no reason to choose the Y over this. The YU7 is twice the car. Teslas only hope is production delays at the Xiaomi factory.

lovely_sombrero 2025-06-26 14:31

Xiaomi YU7 officially launches today in China for $35k, basically the same price as TMY ($36K). The refreshed TMY backlog has been exhausted, I expect 2025Q3 to be brutal for Tesla.

Was it August 2022 that they had the Spandex robot pump? I wonder what they can cook up this August to pump Q3.

TSLA has been zig-zagging up and down like crazy since the markets opened this morning, 16 red to green or green to red transitions thus far, 13 of which happened in the first hour-and-a-half of trading. Does anyone know what, if anything, this indicates?

lovely_sombrero 2025-06-26 16:48

That was just awesome tho! Honestly, if they are able to pump the stock price with these sort of stunts, they should.

Withnail2019 2025-06-26 16:51

They'll dump even more of them in mall parking lots and put them down as 'in transit'.

LeoX9 2025-06-26 17:20

It's just consolidating in a tight range and setting up a trend move as soon as the consolidation is over.

Troy; >Tesla's Global inventory increased from 77,000 at the end of Q4 2024 to 101,000 at the end of Q1 2025. A similar increase is expected this quarter, with production running higher than deliveries because of limited demand.

henrik_se 2025-06-26 20:35

The stupid teslas in tunnels in Las Vegas is still going, right? How long has it been?

totpot 2025-06-26 20:55

Didn't he have a similar end-of-quarter freakout (similar to how he just fired the guy responsible for boosting sales) in Q1? and then we found out days later that every analyst including Troy came in way, way too high on their final estimates.

syrvyx 2025-06-26 22:36

It makes me feel like we've made Idiocracy a documentary.

Top_Junket2991 2025-06-26 23:19

Some of that will end up in Canada once tariffs are lifted and ev rebates have returned. So it'll be small relief

Not putting the safety driver in the driver’s seat is such a weak, unserious move. I’d be furious if these drove around in my community.

TheDirtyOnion 2025-06-27 07:34

The days of inventory figure is going to be getting uncomfortably high.

TannedSam 2025-06-27 10:47

Generally speaking a weak dollar is beneficial to Tesla, since a lot of their revenue comes in other currencies (which will then be worth more in dollar terms). Now, some of their costs are also in other currencies, but a lower percentage than their revenue.

Xiaomi's new YU7 SUV has received 240,000 orders in China which is a huge threat to the Tesla MY Refresh: [https://finance.yahoo.com/news/shares-chinas-xiaomi-surge-launch-014425434.html](https://finance.yahoo.com/news/shares-chinas-xiaomi-surge-launch-014425434.html) For those of you who have not seen it. It's bloody impressive at $35,000 (Standard) to $39,000 (Pro) in China. Wheelsboy has done a review at: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi7c3yplHiQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi7c3yplHiQ) The tech integration is far beyond anything I have seen at this price point, even when it doubles on export.

banditcleaner2 2025-06-27 15:35

I'm convinced the ACTUAL deathknell to tesla would be if china were able to export cars here for 0% tariffs/no costs. Xiaomi would wipe the floor with tesla and it would easily result in a 30-50% one day crash for the stock tbh

Congrulations Elon Musk for buying another 'expert' that will magically agree with everything you propose and legitimize your insane decisions with the board and overrule the actual engineers for you.

lovely_sombrero 2025-06-27 19:31

[Tesla TMY vs Xiaomi YU7 comparison posted by former Tesla cultist 'ValueAnalyst1'](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Guc2_GaXMAERSZ0?format=png&name=large) - YU7 looks handsome and cringe at the same time, because it is copying other designs (Porsche), but it is still much better looking overall. - I am really not a fan of self-driving cars, but the Xiaomi seems to at least have good sensors when compared to Tesla. >Xiaomi’s new Pilot suite gives the YU7 the same hands-free navigation capability Tesla markets as "Full Self-Driving," but with an extra layer of safety and redundancy thanks to a roof-mounted LiDAR. Every trim comes with a 700-TOPS NVIDIA Drive Thor computer, one LiDAR unit that sees obstacles up to 200m even in rain or at night, plus 4D mm-wave radar, 11 HD cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors, creating a rich, overlapping 360° field of view that meets the latest Chinese L3 guidelines. By contrast, Tesla’s refreshed Model Y relies solely on its eight-camera "Pure Vision" stack after deleting both radar and ultrasonic sensors, a choice now facing fresh U.S. safety probes for poor performance in low-visibility conditions. With identical Navigate-on-Autopilot highway functions today and Xiaomi promising city-street Pilot coverage in 100 Chinese cities by year-end, the YU7 matches Tesla on features while offering better perception in edge-cases where depth accuracy or glare resistance matters most.

Musk just tweeted they did the automomous delivery a day early. What do we think? Real? Fake? "There were no people in the car at all and no remote operators in control at any point. FULLY autonomous! To the best of our knowledge, this is the first fully autonomous drive with no people in the car or remotely operating the car on a public highway." My guess is they used a follow car to monitor, with the possibility to intervene if required, on a low latency radio link. They could've, didn't have to, so they claim full autonomy. Who knows how many previous attempts there might have been when they did intervene though!

Row-Maleficent 2025-06-27 20:34

CompoteDeep2016 2025-06-27 20:40

I mean how far from the factory? Probably just a couple of miles and cars in front and back stated by tesla to guard it from real traffic. To make it look more real no tesla cars, Ford or gm. Even if it happened I don't trust them that they didn't do everything to stage it as much as possible

Karma_X5-Chameleon 2025-06-27 20:51

It’s interesting how Tesla and Elon are trying to put out new products / features before the release of the Q2 numbers. I bet there will be new and “exciting” things happening before all the Qs come out to try to maintain the insane share price. Q3 - first Optimus sold to a customer (probably X.AI). Q4, new service offered in a new city (probably Oakland next door to their other factory). They are just playing the hype- pump and dump crowd to try to salvage the stock price as long as they can. Because if the stock ever falls to its intrinsic value, pretty sure they will lose a lot of their employees with those stock options being worthless.

Recent Forbes video: "The Robotaxi Competition Is Heating Up Between Waymo, Tesla and Zoox" - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fg7XLICePGY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fg7XLICePGY) Most popular comment thus far: "Tesla needs to drive at level 4 in Texas in September, by law. It can't even do level 3. Cybertaxi has 64 days left." I guess that should be robotaxi. However I think the commentator has a point! Do we all think the Tesla robotaxi service only has 64 days left? If not how will they address the new Texas law?

Fun_Volume2150 2025-06-27 22:15

ObservationalHumor 2025-06-28 03:00

Yeah odds are it was literally delivered to a Tesla employee who worked at the factory. Probably done at like 5 am too when no traffic on the road. Not to mention the very nature of the claim is kind of 'who cares?' to begin with. Yeah Waymo and Zoox don't build cars so they don't deliver them. So congratulations on that win by default I guess? Edit: Just saw the video. Looks like mid day. Traffic wasn't super heavy and it was mostly highway driving, but it was more demanding than I had expected. Says more for their risk tolerance than anything though.

Karma_X5-Chameleon 2025-06-28 05:35

Karma_X5-Chameleon 2025-06-28 05:40

doomer_bloomer24 2025-06-28 08:52

There will be a lot of stock pumping announcement (like the gimmicky delivery) in the next few days as Tesla has to distract from the disastrous Q2 numbers

AndSoISaysToTheGuy 2025-06-28 14:09

Did the car already have a designated customer, or did it just circle around, looking for one?

MarchMurky8649 2025-06-28 14:11

I've had a look at the text of SB 2807: [https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/89R/billtext/pdf/SB02807F.pdf](https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/89R/billtext/pdf/SB02807F.pdf) >"Automated motor vehicle" means a motor vehicle on which an automated driving system is installed that is capable of being operated with Level 4 automation or Level 5 automation. The whole Act seems to only apply to such vehicles. Tesla doesn't have, nor is it likely to have, any such vehicles, certainly not by September 1st when SB 2807 comes into force. So, the implication seems to be that the safety driver is, and shall remain, legally, the driver of the vehicle, just as he would be if he were sitting behind the wheel using FSD (supervised) as many Tesla owners do on a regular basis. If I'm right this means, contrary to my first thoughts, SB 2807 won't shut the service down. However, does something I've missed in this law, or in any other law, make it illegal for the driver to be in the passenger seat? Also can they legally remove the safety driver from the car and rely completely on teleoperation? I'm surprised I haven't seen discussion of any of this before as it will have profound implications for the future of the Tesla's robotaxi service in Austin. Also, I wonder whether those safety drivers know they are legally responsible for everything the car does, as would seem to be the case by default, unless I have missed something. Have I?

MarchMurky8649 2025-06-28 14:31

I'm picturing a Tesla with nobody in it driving rather erratically, with a guy in a follow car desperately trying to keep control of it with some kind of teleoperation console, barely able to control where it is going. After a few minutes of this torture he sees a house with an empty driveway, manages to steer it off the street onto the drive, then someone rushes into the house with some paperwork saying "just say you ordered it and we'll give it to you for free!" /s

lovely_sombrero 2025-06-28 15:11

Sadly, Tesla is around ~5% up on 2025Q1 deliveries in the daily 5 countries. It is still a shit result for Q2, but not quite as bad as Q1.

IcyHowl4540 2025-06-28 16:05

The jig is finally up for Elon. The Robotaxi launch is now in the rearview mirror, the 'Autonomous Delivery' parlor trick is done, and now there's nothing left but cold hard numbers. Delivery numbers will be abysmal, earnings will be horrible, and the EV Tax Credit could be going away Sept 30th, if the Senate draft change ends up in the BBB this weekend. If enacted, Tesla will be on track for **negative earnings in Q4**. Looking forward, all regions globally are in decline in 2025, and with no new models in the pipeline, 2026 is projected to continue declining. Even assuming robotaxi limps along, scaling will be much slower than Elon's projections (by years as usual), and the competition is only growing with Zoox and VW/Pony.ai, not to mention the industry-leading Waymo. So the bottom line financially is that *even if successful*, measurable contributions to earnings is years away.

Apprehensive_Let2331 2025-06-29 00:28

so, what do we think the removal of the ev tax credit by September really means for sales? I'm guessing this is drastically going to reduce demand, but I could be wrong? The basic model Y going from 37k to 45k - that's a major difference. Will they find some other con ways of minimizing the display price? "include 10 years gas savings" or "include robotaxi income offset"..

Apprehensive_Let2331 2025-06-29 00:34

I also just learnt about the zero emissions carbon credits. American companies have had to pay Tesla hundreds of millions of dollars every year. Is this going away soon too?

blazesquall 2025-06-29 00:40

You're missing the forest from the trees. Those half-measures are a function of changing priorities. They no longer have his focus because he's needed elsewhere. *slaps down Tesla Master Plan: Part 4* Checkmate, dumbass. > Forget the cars and batteries; those were merely a prelude. The endgame is far grander. We will use a fleet of Starships, launching twice daily like a cosmic conveyor belt, to deploy an armada of self-replicating Tesla Robots that will construct a Dyson Swarm from the raw materials of the asteroid belt. This halo of hyper-efficient solar collectors orbiting the Sun will beam functionally infinite, clean energy back to Earth via a focused microwave transmission, rendering all terrestrial energy sources obsolete. We are not just building a sustainable future; we are ending the very concept of scarcity and elevating humanity to a truly interplanetary species. This isn't a plan; it's an inevitability.

Top_Junket2991 2025-06-29 03:42

wondering the same. JPMorgan estimates the cut could **shave about $1.2 billion/year** from Tesla’s operating profit, plus another \~$2B from lost carbon credit revenues, totalling a \~$3B earnings hit

ChiefTestPilot87 2025-06-29 03:55

My neighbor’s armband red Swasticar Model 3rd Reich has been blocking the exit to my driveway for going on 4 hours now waiting on a flatbed. She won’t move it and her dumb husband (also drives a swasticar) screamed at me when I kindly asked them to put their car in neutral and push it 10 feet so I can get out. He claims that it won’t move. Do Tesler’s have a neutral “gear”? If so how do I explain it to my boneheaded neighbors.

mrbuttsavage 2025-06-29 04:59

sunnydays2121 2025-06-29 11:07

Q2 deliveries this wednesday 👀

MarchMurky8649 2025-06-29 12:02

Use taxis, keep the receipts? In England you'd be unlikely to end up out of pocket as the court would award you costs if they refused to reimburse you. However in the US I understand that is rare. Is there a cheap to use small claims procedure that would help in a situation like this?

MarchMurky8649 2025-06-29 13:35

I came here to write something much the same! I will simply add that, despite requiring fewer interventions than, say, the version used for [the faked "Paint It Black" video](https://www.reddit.com/r/RealTesla/comments/raiwql/former_employees_allege_tesla_faked_original_full/), current FSD software is years away from escaping level 2, if, indeed, it ever will at all, and the robotaxi software is clearly simply FSD with nag switched off, with perhaps a few other minor modifications. As such there will, again, for years at least, be one-to-one, or even greater than that, supervision required, so autonomous delivery will be more expensive than the alternatives, and robotaxi will be loss making. If they do scale it up it will just be losing them more money! In short, for the next few years at least, not only will robotaxi not be generating measurable positive contributions to earnings, it will be actively making negative contributions to earnings. "The sum of the most recent four consecutive quarters' earnings should be positive" is an S and P 500 inclusion criterion so, presumably, if you are right, Tesla will be expelled from that index some time next year. It seems likely that this will be the catalyst for the share price to fall dramatically as it will trigger a lot of institutional selling of the stock.

MarchMurky8649 2025-06-29 13:38

The Optimus concept is much harder to achieve than FSD. I don't think it'll have any impact on the share price if, as seems almost certain, FSD stays stuck at SAE level 2, for several more years, or, perhaps, forever.

CornerGasBrent 2025-06-29 13:39

If

FrogmanKouki 2025-06-29 18:52

TSLA +10% this week

FrogmanKouki 2025-06-29 18:57

Can you imagine how much money Tesla will save not paying for delivery drivers. Never mind the extra mileage on your brand new car and the inconvenience of taking it back if the fit and finish don't meet expectations.

IcyHowl4540 2025-06-29 19:26

Huh, I guess I'm not seeing it. There are companies you can use to ship a car. They cost a couple hundred dollars for a local delivery like this one. Not a lot of savings to be found there. It's not like autonomous delivery is free - they need to have teleoperators, special insurance (likely exorbitant due to the experimental nature of the program), paying off injured people for accident lawsuits when they happen, all that stuff. This looks more like the usual science fiction touchstones that Tesla traditionally uses to inflate their stock prices. Like, humanoid robots. Practically pointless, but futuristic *feeling*, and so the stock goes up.

Capable-Answer7200 2025-06-29 20:20

Q2 deliveries, probably not going to be good again. Also passing of Trumps budget bill due soon, removal of electric car credits will kill Teslas profitability. You also have the ticking time bomb that is the potential failure of Robotaxi. Stars seem to be aligning so I'm going to go against the recent trends and predict Tesla is going to drop at least 30% by end of year.

poissonous 2025-06-29 21:49

It will boost q3 and be devastating once it takes effect.

skynwavel 2025-06-29 23:01

They'll get next quarter to push the order now and you'll still get 7500 tho..
