The stock is up again today….

ot13579 2025-06-19 16:37

Pets.com did as well at one point.

spaham 2025-06-19 16:38

Yeah the stock is totally disconnected from the day to day news

Far_Addition1210 2025-06-19 16:39

Its not trading today. Its a public holiday.

nojunkdrawers 2025-06-19 16:40

There's probably a bajillion algo-trading bots out there that are programmed to simply buy TSLA shares any time "Tesla" or "Musk" appear in headlines, regardless of whether the news is negative.

ZanoCat 2025-06-19 16:41

I hope so. His rockets aren't doing great either and should be taken away from him as well.

luv2block 2025-06-19 16:41

SpaceX rocket blew up today, Tesla should be up 10% tomorrow.

ManfredTheCat 2025-06-19 16:43

I imagine it's because he's become involved in the process somehow

TempleSquare 2025-06-19 16:48

Yeah. Anyone who is here to cheer on a stock price collapse if probably going to be disappointed. The *entire market* is disconnected from market fundamentals because there is way too much Boomer retirement tied up in the market right now (i.e., they contributed to 401Ks for decades; it's peaked, but they haven't spent it down significantly). So, even institutional investors are climbing over one another to find assets to park money in. TSLA just lead the pack in total insanity. My concern is that a failure of the Tesla company (hasn't happened yet, but indicators seems alarming) will eventually cause a panic sell from TSLA. And that could have broader splashback onto other overpriced stocks like NVIDIA. The cumulative effect could trigger a 1929-style market panic. What we can indulge in *today* is the schadenfreude of Tesla (the company, not the stock) finally suffering real-world consequences from years of Musk's bad decisions. I hate to see Tesla (the company) suffer, but I also hate to see a world where there are no consequences for actions.

HystericalSail 2025-06-19 16:49

The focus on the Cybertruck didn't help, but absolutely the hard right turn alienated the core left customer base at least somewhat, and the right isn't into paying big subsidies Tesla needs to be profitable. They have their own pigs to feed at the trough.

dbx999 2025-06-19 16:51

Car manufacturing plants are in a shutdown mode. Stock will jump up 5%

Other_Cap2954 2025-06-19 16:51

The beginning of the end started last year during the presidential election campaign

Arglefarb 2025-06-19 16:52

This line from the article , “It’s hard to fathom how Musk, an intelligent individual, did not see this coming” is the thing that grinds me. Why say this? Look at the picture that accompanies, look at everything that was just written - perhaps it’s the fallacy about Leon’s intelligence that is the real issue requiring investigation. The evidence that he may, in fact, not be very smart is all around.

Ceet_Oh 2025-06-19 16:54

I just don’t like the stock.

ChuckVader 2025-06-19 16:55

I take issue with one of the fundamental premises

MouseShadow2ndMoon 2025-06-19 16:55

Buying Twitter for more optics on his poor bargaining skills to pay billions to be a Reddit mod.

liquidgrill 2025-06-19 16:56

He should just rename them “Cyber Rockets” and start making them out of aluminum

Blond-Bec 2025-06-19 16:57

Trending algorithms were a mistake... I mean, sure they are profitable for the most part but they feed into themselves. Algos buy/sell meant even more algos will buy/sell. We're in the realm of "fundamentals don't mean shit anymore". You can call me a boomer but this isn't healthy from an economic PoV.

Comprehensive_Sale50 2025-06-19 16:57

Here, here

trapercreek 2025-06-19 16:57

Better question: what is Tesla’s business? Auto maker? Taxi service? Home energy/battery storage manufacturer? Their business plan is as flaky as their CEO. Their board is non performing. Their corp culture is toxic. Their equity trades at multiples only a cultist would invest in. The end already happened.

Rolling_Pugsly 2025-06-19 16:58

Nope, never happen. After yesterday's explosion stock went up eleven points.

Rolling_Pugsly 2025-06-19 16:59

Honestly, after reading how he treats his employees, I wouldn't be the least surprised if it was insider sabotage.

joeythemouse 2025-06-19 16:59

Surely we're near the middle of the end by now?

ringobob 2025-06-19 17:01

The beginning of the end is when he bought Twitter. That was the moment he left being "random CEO doing CEO things" to being "the guy that is making the social media platform used by millions of people daily actively worse on a frequent basis". That was the moment he became relevant on a daily basis to hundreds of millions of people throughout the world, mostly in countries that represent the largest customer base for Tesla.

ttkk1248 2025-06-19 17:02

Now it is the beginning of the middle of the end.

Rolling_Pugsly 2025-06-19 17:03

I agree, it doesn't take much effort to sort through the lies. Yet the media refuse to abandon the narrative that musk embodies rare genius. Aggravating.

Chmaziro 2025-06-19 17:03

Or the end of the beginning

amoreinterestingname 2025-06-19 17:04

One would hope. Most people figure. MAGA still pumps the stocks. 🤷‍♂️

ZanoCat 2025-06-19 17:05

That's just another cherry on top. He's always been a narcissist and customers / workers are finally getting fed up with his toxic behaviour. Nobody likes a snake oil salesman either. I've always wondered why people keep putting up with this guy.

Putrumpador 2025-06-19 17:06

IMO, Musk embodies rare vision, and capital--but not rare genius.

cinlung 2025-06-19 17:06

In Japan's samurai era. Elon would be this great Samurai with great wealth who conquers his enemies by performing seppuku on himself. That is exactly how he run his businesses. Tesla is dead for the same reason above.

vonwwijk 2025-06-19 17:06

There’s a free cash flow problem that no one is talking about. 🤣 up 18% tomorrow

daveortega 2025-06-19 17:07

Waiting for the bull analysts to realize that Robotaxi’s will be super easy targets for those who choose to send a vandalizing message to Musk. He’s done and TSLA is toast.

TaifmuRed 2025-06-19 17:10

Buying more tesla calls tmr!

skoalbrother 2025-06-19 17:12

The media can not and will not ever talk down about their billionaire bosses

GiveThemSomething 2025-06-19 17:12

The fact that Elon behaves like a immature child sometimes and clearly is not well in the normal standards doesn’t make him not a genius. He is absolutely one of the most remarkable figures in innovation and engineering in recent decades.

Trevellation 2025-06-19 17:12

From the article: "Musk, in aligning with Trump, had everything to lose and little to gain." I disagree with that pretty strongly. The Trump administration killed several federal investigations into Musk and his companies. Musk's economic empire is built upon lies. Lies about self-driving cars, about robots, about Mars, and more. I think he believed that the results of those federal investigations could've brought his financial house of cards down around him, so he attached himself to a politician with a track record of accepting bribes. He bought Trump a ticket to the White House, Trump got the regulators off his tail, and now he's back to pedaling lies to his (now understandably pissed off) customer base. The "beginning of the end" for Tesla was whenever Musk managed to replace everyone in power at the company with his yes men. Sadly, I think the "end of the end," might still be a ways off though.

aggitprop-1985 2025-06-19 17:15

I purchased a tesla M3 in early 2022 and was disappointed in the QA/QC of the vehicle and joined a forum to see what others thought, and it was major Fanboy about Elon being some genius. Then Elon bought twitter and began posting his true self revealing who he really was. Quickly the Tesla bandwagon became near empty. Had i known then what I know now, i never what had bought a Tesla. He is pox upon everything he is involved in

spanishgav 2025-06-19 17:15

He did. I've been following long enough to remember the Cybertruck was partially sold as a way to reduce rolled steel prices for Starship. Starship looks the way it does because of Elon. It's very much the SpaceX Cybertruck.

vonwwijk 2025-06-19 17:31

As for Europe, he already showed his position by supporting the AfD (except from Russia), claiming the UK was to civil war, and siding with Russia in the Ukraine war. 😂 he is even worse then Trump only he is not lying he is just not normal smart.

CMDR_Profane_Pagan 2025-06-19 17:44

Ask yourself, is America free market capitalism still? I have a feeling people expect the free market to deal with Tesla, but the track USA is on is of state capitalism's with executive orders, kleptocracy and oligarchic rule. For example after Hungary's tyrant, Viktor Orbán had a falling out with his former vallet (an oligarch who managed and on paper owned Orbán's wealth) - he transferred everything to his childhood friend, a former plumber called István Mészáros, whom he had made the mayor of their old hometown. It was reported that this plumber's wealth skyrocketed faster than Mark Zuckerberg's wealth in relative percentage. When reporters asked about it, he only said in his mouse voice "I must be more clever than Zuckerberg". Imagine a peasant owning almost every important company in Hungary, from media, telecommunications, technology, construction etc, owning castles, yachts, having a young whore for a wife.. Musk is a similar cut to be honest. Absolute worthless talentless scum robbing the country blind bc they managed to force through the revolution of incompetents. Pretty shocking the USA is trailing Hungary from all places.

Sunshine3432 2025-06-19 17:44

When you have enough money you could buy countries, people tend to avoid hurting you too much lol

DocCEN007 2025-06-19 17:46

takumososa 2025-06-19 18:28

I am convinced that, if all factories would burn down, stock would go to the moon!

Stewth 2025-06-19 18:29

The man is an absolute moron suffering from delusions of competence. He struck gold through a combination of other people being smart enough to keep him away from important decisions (PayPal board), and being in the right place at the right time (dotcom boom). Thats it. That's the extent of his genius: succeeding in spite of his stupidity, and insane luck. Sadly, he feels that he earned all of his wealth through intellect and hard work, and has spent the last two decades drinking his own piss. Tesla was virtually unopposed in the ev market *globally* for the best part of a decade, and he *still* managed to fuck that up. How anybody could think he had a better than room temperature IQ is beyond me.

mrpittman 2025-06-19 18:31

The stock has always been wildly overvalued and there’s far more competition so the charging network is there only advantage and they layed most of that team off.

GoddessofWvw 2025-06-19 18:31

Doing the German salute 2025 has consequences. Going full Doge on top of it makes it worse. Having a failure as CEO doesn't make things better. Doesn't help that the competition catches up while you don't have a good product to sell anymore at a competitive price. Tesla is done, and it will be compared with Fiat. It can't be sustained as a premium luxury brand when 99,9% of the human race thinks you're unattractive for associating with the product.

In Germany June is the first month with the new Model Y. Guess what? You can order it today and take delivery within 10 days. The demand is so low. June was always a strong month for Tesla. Several countries publish daily registration data. So far, Tesla is, compared to June 24, down again. Not as much as in the previous months, but, as said, its the first month with the new model, and there are still fans. But while the total markets rises, the market share is down by 20%.

Own-Opinion-2494 2025-06-19 18:42

Engunnear 2025-06-19 19:14

If you knew anything about automotive engineering or the economics of space launch vehicle design, he revealed who he really was years before the Twitter acquisition. They say that you realize that Musk is a moron the minute he ventures into a field in which you are a subject matter expert. I absolutely agree with that assessment.

probably not, but it should be.

TinKnight1 2025-06-19 19:24

No stocks in US markets are trading today, due to Juneteenth. If you've looked up the price, the increase showing as "today" also shows the data as of 6/18/2025, which was yesterday. My brokerages show that as do all of the common sources.

The rockets will be sorted out - SpaceX takes risks & during the testing phase don't have an issue with RUD (random unscheduled disassembly), however once a rocket becomes a working beast it has a very low fail rate, just look at the Falcon9 which is the most effective rocket ever. However cash flow for Tesla is a major issue - as I predicted months ago. I can't believe that the share price is still so high.

liquidSpin 2025-06-20 00:59

Musk paid $350 million to upend and destroy his own company. He has fooled people for way too long. Tesla makes low quality cars for the price tag but it doesn't matter as it's a "status" symbol for so many people. "hey look at me, I'm successful" How many times has he over promised and under delivered or not delivered as promised? Way too many in my book. He's a child that got way too greedy and his status as a brilliant entrapenuer got to his head. Maybe after the fall of Tesla he can focus on playing video games and actually become good at them instead of hiring someone to pretend to be him

GhostofBreadDragons 2025-06-20 01:09

Musk has a few characteristics that give him an advantage over most of the rest of us.  1. Autistic fixation - he will work ceaselessly on something without distraction. Most of us would never put the time he will into a project. He will ignore his 12 kids for a month just to micromanage a racist web forum.  2. The ability to believe something without distraction no basis in fact - the man can lie convincingly and may actually believe he will have FSD by the end of the 3rd quarter.  3. A complete lack of ethics. He will sabotage someone else to keep 1% of his market share. He has no problem taking the jobs from a 100,000 people and indirectly starving a million people just to avoid a government investigation and a few million dollar fine.  Now none of this makes him a genius but he does have characteristics most of us don’t have that make him successful.

rbetterkids 2025-06-20 01:21

Agree. He's an opportunist. That's it. That's why it was easy for competition to catch up because he didn't know what to do next.

"Nice" - Elon Probably

Maximum-Objective-39 2025-06-20 04:13

Optimus Gains Sentience and launches a worker's communist revolution - AGI ACHIEVED UP 1000%!!!

Maximum-Objective-39 2025-06-20 04:18

Some napkin math - A version 2 starlink weighs about 1200 kilograms. So let's round that to a ton. So Falcon 9 Heavy can probably lift up 60 of them into LEO. The entire Starlink constellations is supposed to have about 4200 satellites with an average lifespan of 5 years. So they have to lift about 14 full launches into orbit a year once the constellation is established to replenish decaying satellites. IF you can get Starship working properly, then you can lower that to something in the range of 6 to 7 launches. Edit - Correction, 1200 kg per sat, 57,000 kg for a booster recoverable launch, closer to 45 star links per launch. So 19 launches a year. So you're probably talking about close to 2 billion a year in satellite launch costs.

Particular-Line- 2025-06-20 04:20

I’d say the beginning started a year ago

Maximum-Objective-39 2025-06-20 04:20

Yeah no - "Please divert money from the profitable business to build more of a failed rocket design, rather than focusing on your company's actually working design." Isn't going to go over well with other investors.

Maximum-Objective-39 2025-06-20 04:27

To be fair, if he hadn't lucked out on getting over the 'multi million dollar' hump - He'd be considered a low functioning, untrustworthy, asshole. Those qualities are only valuable once you enter the business idiot managerial class.

Maximum-Objective-39 2025-06-20 04:29

Doesn't even require them to be less competent. Institutional brain drain. You can be a well educated, intelligent, and motivated new hire, but if the old guard are leaving faster than they can pass on tacit knowledge you're just not going to perform as well.

Maximum-Objective-39 2025-06-20 04:30

I dunno, the one bit of respect I give Elon is that he's been smart enough to not fly on one of his own rockets.

werpu 2025-06-20 04:37

Elon has diarrhea and floods Tesla's sewage system, stock jumps 150 percent

Blow Emperor Musk

Capable-Ebb1632 2025-06-20 05:53

Their approach of waiting to see what goes wrong and then fixing it worked for them when developing boosters but a manned vehicle is much harder to test like that. The loss of resources and progress every time one blows up is much higher and the complexity means there are so many more things that can go wrong.

high-up-in-the-trees 2025-06-20 06:15

People keep mentioning their billions in free cash reserves that will allow them to stay afloat for a while and...no, their expenses ledger pretty much zeroes that out so unless they just stop paying all of their bills and employees, that money isn't lasting long at all

glue2music 2025-06-20 06:49

Elmo getting all he deserves.

makatakz 2025-06-20 07:41

I sure hope so.

VTAffordablePaintbal 2025-06-20 07:49

And if there is one thing we can be sure of, its that Elon always pays his bills...

Bubbly_Ad427 2025-06-20 08:07

I'd vote for Comrade Optimus as the jead of the Comintern.

fitblubber 2025-06-20 08:36

Yeah, they might've been a bit ambitious in the changes to V2 StarShip & it may have caused massive delays. They'll get it right . . . . eventually. The question is, will they get it right in time to make the 2026 transfer window to Mars.

ipub 2025-06-20 08:37

Tesla's survival depends entirely on removing musk and his associates from the board.

morbiiq 2025-06-20 10:27

IMO #1 is an illusion. He’s an incompetent, whether he’s fixated or not.

MiningMarsh 2025-06-20 10:48

You just described regular free market capitalism.

g_rich 2025-06-20 11:11

I’m no fan of Musk but someone doesn’t just stumble into good ideas that net them millions and billions of dollars, and do this multiple times. PayPal, SpaceX, Starlink and Tesla; Musk does have an eye for seeing an opportunity and the charisma and drive for seeing it through. He’s no genius, and calling him a visionary is questionable but he’s also not some idiot who got lucky a half a dozen times.

vonwwijk 2025-06-20 11:51

Premarket’s already up 2% 👌 this is awesome! Waymo’s struggling, Chinese EVs are losing ground, other rocket companies are flopping, Elon and Trump are BFF again, and Cathie’s calling for Tesla to hit $1,000.

SakaWreath 2025-06-20 12:17

I don’t think anyone will get a chance to short Tesla, it will pump until it falls off a cliff.

KlingelbeuteI 2025-06-20 12:35

Waiting for my shorts to print though

Stewth 2025-06-20 12:38

They literally do, though. He didn't do anything to drive PayPal's success, that was mostly Thiel. In fact if you read the history, he was deliberately kept away from any sort of decision making role there. Because he is a fucking moron. Tesla was never his idea. He bought into it, then squandered a 10 year lead on literally every car manufacturer in the world, then directed the cybertruck which is demonstrably the worst vehicle in existence right now. SpaceX is literally just him going "I have a lot of money, let's do NASA but way worse". They are not profitable and wouldn't be afloat without the government subsidies. If you think Musk has charasima, I don't know what to tell you. The only vibe I get from him is "neighbours being interviewed and telling the reporter he seemed ok and mostly kept to himself"

Troam_Fragledand 2025-06-20 12:52

“…Musk, an intelligent individual…”, says the article. Whats it gonna take for mainstream media to realize this dudes dumb as a brick and always has been?

vonwwijk 2025-06-20 13:19

Barclays sees Tesla Q2 deliveries at 375,000, below consensus.. Up 2%!

Acrobatic_Type7409 2025-06-20 13:27

If musk wants to save it he has to sell 100% of his shares. That’s the only way it will survive.

fishsticklovematters 2025-06-20 13:49

Agree, I don't think you have to be honorable to be seem like genius but it does make much harder.

HereWeGo5566 2025-06-20 14:05

Many people believe that the entire point of DOGE was to get into the government’s data and use it for AI purposes. Musk’s AI company isn’t doing much right now, but it could be worth more than Tesla in the coming years, as AI ramps up and there’s a race to be the world leader in that area.

[deleted] 2025-06-20 15:32

I thought it was when he called the diver who help rescued those kids in Thailand a pedo because no one liked his stupid submarine solution.

habfranco 2025-06-20 17:12

Musk saying "he looks like a pedo guy" was the beginning of the end

ringobob 2025-06-20 17:43

Honestly, it wasn't him calling the guy a pedo that flipped the switch for me. It was that he called him a pedo because he was butt hurt that his dumbass suggestion of using a mini submarine in a space a naked human could barely fit through was being called a dumbass suggestion. Like, it's cool you didn't clue in enough to realize that wouldn't work, you're not directly involved in the rescue effort, it's a reasonable oversight, just thank them for the correction and move on. But no, flip out and insult the people telling you the truth, and expose that any reputation of being a real engineer is fully nonsense - no engineer worth the title would blow up at someone for pointing out an obvious physical constraint on a project they're not relevant to. Engineers work within reality to solve problems, information is gold.

RupertLazagne 2025-06-20 18:59

Beginning?

Capable-Ebb1632 2025-06-20 19:26

I'd say there is zero chance of this. A mission to Mars is a lot more than just a booster. They take years, even decades of planning. Testing a vehicle to orbit is nothing compared to trusting it to make a 4 month minimum trip with no problems.

Senor707 2025-06-20 20:09

Every time a SpaceX rocket blows up the Neuralink in my brain goes haywire. Does anyone else have that problem? Any solutions? I can't sleep.

needlestack 2025-06-20 20:31

Now they can focus on AI!

dead_ed 2025-06-20 22:22

indeed. It's so disqualifying as a sane human.

ZanoCat 2025-06-20 22:56

I believe everything Musk is trying to run and control is doomed for failure. I love science and space exploration, but not with that man at the helm. Who would want to work for a toxic man.

Part_Tricky 2025-06-20 23:19

Hope it is the end of Tesla. OverInflated, OverPriced, OverEvaluated

poorlilwitchgirl 2025-06-21 05:28

The writer is clearly a stockholder begging Elon to stop ruining his investment.

fitblubber 2025-06-21 09:27

At this stage they're just trying to make the next good transfer window to Mars, which is in late 2026. & I'll be pretty surprised if it'll be manned. It'll all be about sending as much mass as possible into orbit around Mars. & maybe some robots to land & do some initial work on the Marsbase. (though, personally I think Mars is a waste of time & they should work towards the mining of asteroids).

fitblubber 2025-06-21 09:33

A lot of business people are sometimes toxic & it's very rare to find that they're completely perfect. Musk is just a man - who can be sucked into doing dumb things by people like Trump. Musk always pushes the line. Tesla almost went under & SpaceX almost didn't get the Falcon9 working in time. We'll see what happens this time.

Capable-Ebb1632 2025-06-21 13:00

If they were planning to do any of this then they would have had to have firm plans in place years ago. Mars rover robots aren't something you can buy off the shelf let alone robots to "do work on the moon base". Missions beyond earth orbit take years of planning and training. You don't do all of that when your launch vehicle is still exploding on the launchpad.

rh166 2025-06-21 13:12

We are trying to get away from oligarchic rule. I love seeing it fall apart!

OkAppeal2650 2025-06-21 20:08

I heard the price of special K is up also, gonna take another 15% price increase on any models still selling to cover that.

HillsNDales 2025-06-21 21:15

What, being a drug-addicted complete sociopath?

GhostofBreadDragons 2025-06-21 21:48

The sociopath with access to meth is probably fairly successful for business

soldieroscar 2025-06-22 00:32

The lies musk keeps using as the excuse to keep everything running can only go so far. Now it looks like the chickens are coming home to roost. All he had to do was make an economical electric car. No self drive, no cyber truck, no robots, no ai. Simple… everyone wanted a cheap electric car.

practicaloppossum 2025-06-22 01:06

Interestingly, most of that also applies to Steve Jobs, who was also widely considered a genius. Perhaps the meaning of "genius" has changed since Einstein's day. (note - as far as I know Jobs never expressed any racist sentiments. I think that fell into the "not interesting" category for him).

GhostofBreadDragons 2025-06-22 01:09

Jobs also didn’t grow up in apartheid South Africa.

HillsNDales 2025-06-22 01:49

You’re not wrong. At least until their teeth start falling out. Of course, they do have the money for implants…but eventually it does come home to roost. Sadly, not before they’ve ruined a lot of other lives.

the_mooseman 2025-06-22 13:23

The neighbours being interviewed line slayed me lol

worldspy99 2025-06-23 02:01

Robotaxi unveiled in Austin. Stock will be up by 20% this coming week.

BadMofoII 2025-06-23 15:07

Not with humanoid robots coming

BadMofoII 2025-06-23 15:07

Still currently way overvalued though
