This site features 2 750kW chargers powered by 2 V3.5 cabinets (the same ones used on normal v3 and v3+ superchargers) per stall. It features the MC1 connector only used for the "legacy" version of the vehicle not the version that will be produced in the new Semi Factor in Nevada when it opens this year. It is unclear why this charger was built or why it's public given Tesla has strict control over who can use the Generation 1 Tesla Semis.

Does anyone else see Ontario CA and have to remember this is California not Canada

It’s easy to look back in this was 20/20 vision as this came from a time when Elon was a lot more believable. The events since then have shown - and proved - otherwise. There were still doubters of the CT back in 2019, and Elon’s track record still wasn’t strong, but there was little reason to doubt this. Obviously the missed deadline with the Roadster from 2018, the Semi, the delays of the CT and the missed specs, continued extensions of FSD - though getting there! - where Musk said (in 2016) [the car could drive itself from coast to coast without an occupant](https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-autopilot-fsd-coast-to-coast-demo-update-elon-musk/) in two years. This barely happened at the end of 2025, but with a driver.

Poncherelly 2026-03-08 14:10

Living in Ontario Canada; YES!

Suitable_Switch5242 2026-03-08 14:11

My understanding is that this is an early draft version of MCS before it was finalized, used on earlier Tesla Semi prototypes. The production version of the Tesla Semi will use the final standardized MCS connector: https://evchargingstations.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/20260103-204646.jpg

I think it's frowned upon having a public semi

velcro-fish 2026-03-08 14:21

Haha my company has an office in Ontario (California) and it gets me every time

Familiar_Marzipan_46 2026-03-08 14:22

It could be something with Pepsi needing it for routes in that area.

omnibossk 2026-03-08 14:41

So not actually mega? I thought they could supply up to 1.2MW?

LostCauseSPM 2026-03-08 14:44

Living in Ontario, California, also yes.

jrwilhelm1 2026-03-08 14:45

CA is California.

Accomplished_Air7491 2026-03-08 14:51

Is this the California that's in the US?

LostCauseSPM 2026-03-08 14:53

Where is this exactly?

bearuwu_ 2026-03-08 14:56

that’s funny seeing tesla semi chargers when they’re not even released to the public yet

sebtheballer 2026-03-08 14:58

Yes.  Interestingly, the guys who named Ontario, CA were from Ontario, Canada, so it isn't a complete coincidence.

vettemanhere 2026-03-08 14:59

Does anyone know why here??

gimmick243 2026-03-08 15:04

CA is also Canada... (And yes the have an Ontario too)

Moose_knucklez 2026-03-08 15:10

As is tradition

1FrostySlime 2026-03-08 15:12

That's the V4 version

1FrostySlime 2026-03-08 15:12

Sorry haha that didn't occur to me

1FrostySlime 2026-03-08 15:13

It's hard to tell but the cables actually have a built in protection system that makes it harder to cut and if they're cut they spray ink uhhh explosively I guess is the best word

1FrostySlime 2026-03-08 15:13

Yes

ComradeSpaceman 2026-03-08 15:13

4265 E Guasti Road, Ontario, California according to [https://www.basenor.com/blogs/news/tesla-opens-first-la-area-megacharger-what-it-means-for-semi](https://www.basenor.com/blogs/news/tesla-opens-first-la-area-megacharger-what-it-means-for-semi)

1FrostySlime 2026-03-08 15:13

It's not proprietary and is not the version that will be used for the nationwide network

The TA Travel Center in Ontario California

1FrostySlime 2026-03-08 15:14

Presumably one of their partners needed one in LA

1FrostySlime 2026-03-08 15:19

Yum

lemketron 2026-03-08 15:27

So it should’ve been called “New Ontario”?

Kaiju62 2026-03-08 15:37

Ontario airport is a big shipping hub. It has a massive Amazon section for example. Also, the Inland Empire, which has refers to San Bernardino and Riverside counties, is known for warehouses and last mile logistics

Bigfoqt 2026-03-08 15:40

I got invited to do a presentation at a conference in Ontario, CA. Excited thinking about good Canadian beer, I accepted. Went into our travel system, submitted the request. Arranged my air travel - then tried to reserve a room at the listed hotel. California!? Emailed and unaccepted the invite - then had explain to the budget folks why I needed to cancel the trip and air travel.

LanPhantom 2026-03-08 15:44

“Nontario”

LegitPancak3 2026-03-08 15:46

Sorry, but even as an American myself my first thought was Canada…

justpatagain 2026-03-08 16:07

Offtario?

anthonyestrella12 2026-03-08 16:12

I grew up in Ontario California!

LostCauseSPM 2026-03-08 16:13

I recently heard that the founder of the California city was originally from Ontario, Canada and that's why he named it that.

Individual_Poet_1358 2026-03-08 16:23

Nuevo Ontario.

pgsz 2026-03-08 16:32

And some random EV will be parked sideways in there to charge for a few hours. 🤣

CVPKR 2026-03-08 16:43

I had that on my resume and the company asked if I needed visa and international relocation

1FrostySlime 2026-03-08 16:56

Thankfully driving area is semis only

vettemanhere 2026-03-08 16:59

Active-Play7630 2026-03-08 17:32

Weren't Megachargers supposed to be 1MW or higher?

legollama88 2026-03-08 18:02

don’t block the fuel island!

1FrostySlime 2026-03-08 18:10

That's the version using V4 cabinets. This uses V3.5 cabinets.

1FrostySlime 2026-03-08 18:11

750,000. This isn't the version using V4 cabinets

Tall-Vermicelli-4669 2026-03-08 18:29

Frito Lay

HorseToeNail 2026-03-08 18:32

oh, it suddenly not as interesting anymore.

1FrostySlime 2026-03-08 18:39

Why make it public if it's just for one company?

Dwman113 2026-03-08 19:03

Because at the time they thought they might open up to more companies. Years went on and Frito Lay filled all the required hours of testing they needed.

Indpendent 2026-03-08 19:30

Funny that the abbreviation for Canada and California are both CA. Not confusing at all, eh? 🙃 Yeah I was definitely confused why it was in Canada until I read the comments 😂

ackermann 2026-03-08 19:45

Yeah “public”? Can individual owner/operator truckers buy a Tesla Semi today?

Producing_It 2026-03-08 19:55

Yeah, I live in Ontario, California as well and I remember my high school teacher telling me about that lol. Apparently the city has a lot of history.

mamny83 2026-03-08 20:02

How fast could that theoretically charge my Samsung 25 ultra?

LostCauseSPM 2026-03-08 20:03

There's some dude on Instagram, he's making these videos telling historical facts about all the local cities. The videos are ai slop, but the history is neat.

cralwalker 2026-03-08 20:09

Diftario?

TakeaDiveItsaVibe 2026-03-08 20:11

Wait, are the semis on the road already?!

abgtw 2026-03-08 22:00

Californian to Canadian: We don't think about you at all!

InfiniteLight07 2026-03-08 22:24

Ah okay

colinstalter 2026-03-08 22:37

I wish they'd just bite the bullet and peel off the car business from their AI nonsense. The stock price is clearly tied to Elon and his AI promises, not the realities of car manufacturer. Just give me a company focused on making EVs, EV Semis, Solar, Battery, etc. Shit, with the subscription model for FSD, that revenue can even go to the AI company.

Tall-Vermicelli-4669 2026-03-09 00:08

No clue, but that company was an early adopter.

Salamander-Distinct 2026-03-09 00:26

That is a ton of power. For context, a typical residential distribution circuit in that area which feeds 10000 homes could be running at 3-5MW on a cool day. That one charger is almost equivalent to half that amount.

i_do_da_chacha 2026-03-09 01:17

The tongue or …

digiblur 2026-03-09 01:48

Meh...when I tell people I live in LA they think Los Angeles. Louisiana is just way too long.

rygel_fievel 2026-03-09 02:00

I was at a truck stop a couple of days ago that had a newer (LCD display) v4 Supercharger and the handle of that thing was all worn like this one. I usually go to another one closer to my home with v4 and none of the handle look like this. Is Tesla making those things out of the same material as the steering wheel and headrests? /s

MisterWigglie 2026-03-09 02:52

Well, how did it feel?

timmoer 2026-03-09 06:44

I specifically searched for this sign in Ontario, CA when I drove from Ontario, CA! https://preview.redd.it/t2s6b1q9uyng1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62d1fb34c03429941f4b27b282983c67f2027b67

LadyDriverKW 2026-03-09 14:14

Looks like it is at one of the giant truck stops in the area. As a former truck driver I can tell you that parking is scarce and unless they've got someone there to patrol the chargers, they will be taken up by diesel powered trucks camping out for their federally mandated 30 minute breaks. Truck stops are always taking away parking places in an effort to monetize more of their land. They will also be hit by people pulling in and out. Nothing stays nice at a truck stop.

kylexy32 2026-03-09 14:47

Does the new not legacy version of the semi have a NACS connector? Or something else?? Would be cool if they can pump enough juice through NACs

1FrostySlime 2026-03-09 16:04

MC2. NACS is "only" rated for 1MW. MC2 is rated for up to 3MW

Ok-Spell8395 2026-03-09 16:40

So pardon the ignorance. Does the Tesla semi require 2 rapid chargers or are there 2 charging spots? I know gas trucks have a tank on each side and require to pumps. Just curious

1FrostySlime 2026-03-09 19:10

2 charging spots

redkulat 2026-03-09 19:21

approximately 3

MisterBumpingston 2026-03-09 21:31

Meanwhile established and new Chinese truck companies have BEV semis on the market and on the road already for over a year now.

phatione 2026-03-09 22:24

These are 1MWH ! Amazing.

1FrostySlime 2026-03-09 22:55

They're 750kW. These are not the new chargers designed to charge at 1.2MW.

Agreeable_Ad3800 2026-03-09 23:09

Right through to the end of your life..

thirdeyefish 2026-03-10 00:15

That is one chonky connector.

jcboiler 2026-03-10 01:27

Likely grant funding requirements

shuacore 2026-03-10 01:47

Makes sense because over here Ontario is off of the 15 and the 10. 15 goes from Canada to Mexico and 10 goes west coast to Florida Live nearby

JohnnyFnG 2026-03-10 03:07

I dealt with a Telecom vendor ConvergeOne out of Ontario CA for years. I still get this wrong 😆

This_Illustrator_436 2026-03-10 03:33

Does anyone else think those cables look skinny asf to support over a megawatt of charging sustained? Obviously there’ll be a curve so the system won’t be too stressed but like…why not make it thicker?

No_Sir_3425 2026-03-10 14:34

Thats the Reason why I love normal Cars

numberonecalifornia 2026-03-10 16:49

Is this site actually a supercharger facility or is it from BP Pulse (TA)? I don't see it available on the Tesla or BP apps

randomdud 2026-03-10 19:19

I know you were joking, but that would certainly be fine to do. It takes a ton of communication between the car and charger before any significant voltage is put across those lines.

randomdud 2026-03-10 19:26

The S25 has an approximately 20Wh battery. At 750kW, that is 750,000 Watts/hour.  20/750,000 = ~0.00003 hours or ~0.1 second for a full charge.

mamny83 2026-03-10 20:53

Thanks.

robotzor 2026-03-11 02:00

Probably helping Pepsi out for partnering with them so well on this. A good-will install to support their trials, perhaps?

New_Faithlessness384 2026-03-11 02:23

All those protective yellow barriers are nothing against the flip flop wearing warriors who will come to conquer that piece of charging land soon.

New_Faithlessness384 2026-03-11 02:25

There is no way to confuse the 2 because Canadas only innovation is importing bodies from india.

explain2mewhatsauser 2026-03-11 08:31

looks expensive

azndkflush 2026-03-11 10:10

Only 750? Why not 1000? China already has 1000+

realestyoungin 2026-03-11 15:15

Looks like PS5 consoles lol

lemongrenade 2026-03-11 17:22

What if I told you there’s a Philadelphia st in Ontario California.

Odd_Manufacturer_328 2026-03-12 00:09

I wish I got a pick saw one charging super cool

wishingdeath 2026-03-12 01:59

That's a beefy charger tip 🥵

Derekboonstra 2026-03-12 16:29

actually spit my coffe out. Very well done!!!

WitchDr_Ash 2026-03-12 18:00

I agree, and now they’re trying to build stupid robots that don’t work 😕

libben 2026-03-12 19:29

Can't wait until they start deploying more chargers. Slowly building up the domination and I'm here for it!

Sevauk 2026-03-12 20:33

it's a different connector

ChuqTas 2026-03-13 04:55

Surely a grant funded site wouldn't accept units with temporary/proprietary connectors?

ChuqTas 2026-03-13 04:57

The eventual production version will use [Megawatt Charging System](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megawatt_Charging_System) (MCS).

GrandBluehero 2026-03-13 16:24

I’ve seen about 10 tesla semi trucks on the 10fwy so it makes sense

Tower-Union 2026-03-13 20:46

Awww man.
