Enjoy_The_Ride413 2026-02-20 14:19

That's weird. Why? Why not do a month? What's the reasoning to sell a base type model for 10 days?

FTW312 2026-02-20 14:21

Probably clearing inventory before they announce Cybertruck lines converting to make robots or something.

crimxona 2026-02-20 14:21

What's happening after ten days? Is this just a sale price?

KyloZenATX 2026-02-20 14:22

Discount junk

[deleted] 2026-02-20 14:22

I am still baffled at the robots decision. I get canning the CT, it's an awful and ugly vehicle. But robots? Seriously?

Sea_C 2026-02-20 14:25

Cool then it will be $49,990 lol.

Zabolater 2026-02-20 14:25

Probably selling the rest to one of his related companies so he can make sales goals for Tesla this quarter.

inavandownbytheriver 2026-02-20 14:26

lol you think they didn't run the numbers?

-CaptainFormula- 2026-02-20 14:26

Gotta do songs and dances to feed the stock. It's going to be a interesting company to study in hindsight one day.

TheTimeIsChow 2026-02-20 14:27

They...discontinue the Cybertruck.

todd_ted 2026-02-20 14:28

JFC! Why would you want to sell vehicles for a reasonable price?

3serious 2026-02-20 14:28

You're asking if the guy who priced the model S at $69,420 just to be a meme thinks that hard about the numbers?

[deleted] 2026-02-20 14:28

I am not sure, what numbers are you speaking of?

DwarfScalper 2026-02-20 14:29

Sorry but it's "Robots" and not Robots.

dubie4x8 2026-02-20 14:29

This is idiotic. It’s like they are allergic to selling the Cybertruck at a reasonable price…

prototypeByDesign 2026-02-20 14:29

To create artificial, arbitrary FOMO.

benjamin_noah 2026-02-20 14:30

IIRC, Elon needs to sell one million Optimus robots by a certain date to qualify for the $1,000,000,000,000 bonus package. I expect Elon would like a trillion dollars and, considering that the last time we saw Optimus it fell over on stage when the remote human operator took off their helmet, I have a feeling Tesla is going to shift massive resources into that.

Thanks_Obama 2026-02-20 14:31

He is literally trying to hit his performance target. Same with the FSD changes.

tazzydnc 2026-02-20 14:32

way too short... maybe the goal is to make as close to exactly as many as they sell and limit production to a very short window?

[deleted] 2026-02-20 14:32

That video is still to this day one of my favorites.

Rav4Primer 2026-02-20 14:37

Sure, Elon did - but look at how off his projections were for the Cybertruck. At one point he was talking about scaling to manufacture 500,000 trucks per year. They sold 40k in 2024, and 20k in 2025. Elon can run all the numbers he wants, but those numbers don't matter if the demand just isn't there.

AppleCorpsing 2026-02-20 14:37

This type of marketing tactic smacks of desperation.

dopestar667 2026-02-20 14:38

They don’t have inventory of textile seats or trucks with no rear screens and no interior 110 outlets. This is a new trim.

Godrillax 2026-02-20 14:39

Would be the most sold Tesla vehicle at that price

erichf3893 2026-02-20 14:39

Virtually anything is an improvement

Jeriath27 2026-02-20 14:40

This BS is why public companies suck. Move dictated not by what is making money, but by shit the shareholders voted on. It'll be a dumb move if they screw over the vehicles side of the business to do this

Careless_Bat_9226 2026-02-20 14:40

Yeah and the numbers don’t add up

itak2pyrosanicaladay 2026-02-20 14:44

The decisions being made by Elon in recent years is nothing short of desperate and pathetic. He is choosing every wrong option with every decision he has to make. Selling the cybertruck at a massive loss in order to boost sales numbers on paper to show investors so they pump more money into this bubble is moronic, but unfortunately most investors are too stupid to understand they are actively losing money on tesla. The only reason the price keeps going up is because investors keep pumping and pumping while the company itself is hemorrhaging money.

stinusprobus 2026-02-20 14:48

Wow that really sounds like something a serious and healthy company would do

Aktrejo301 2026-02-20 14:49

Prices will go even lower I hope

chromhound 2026-02-20 14:49

Wtf ?

pc772 2026-02-20 14:49

probably not as it's only in the US

TheRage43 2026-02-20 14:53

If they paid me to take one, maybe, it might be fun to send it off the annual car launch in Glacier View, AK

itak2pyrosanicaladay 2026-02-20 14:53

Don’t get me wrong, i love EVs, and i want Tesla to be successful; but unfortunately it is impossible for them to prosper while Elon is in charge.

DeskPixel 2026-02-20 14:55

Creating a fake sense of scarcity to try to sell a product nobody wants

Short-Service1248 2026-02-20 14:56

Man it really is time for Elon to leaves what kinda asinine announcement is that ?

Zealousideal-Smell70 2026-02-20 14:56

And it’s still a dumpster truck

Instincts 2026-02-20 14:57

On the bright side, Cybertruck is probably gonna be a great case study for Marketing and Economics classes

theycallmebekky 2026-02-20 14:58

Yeah what in the world is this dude doing? The recent choices Tesla is making are actually moronic.

Philosopher115 2026-02-20 14:58

Im sure they would sell more if they actually had it priced at what they said it was when designing it. Lower the price by 30k and it would actually sell for around what they said, and kept their sales number up. Hard to sell a 80k-100k truck with incomplete features and low quality.

Defiant-Opposite-501 2026-02-20 14:58

"For ten days" takes this from the realm of "we're finally adjusting the price to reflect market realities" to "we're clearing inventories before the model is cancelled."

bkcarp00 2026-02-20 14:59

Pretty sad way to try to clear Inventory with a flash sale for 10 days.

itak2pyrosanicaladay 2026-02-20 15:00

Absolutely! It is baffling to me that someone who makes such terrible choices is trusted as being the freaking CEO/technoking. This guy should have been voted out as soon as he started going insane.

Scro86 2026-02-20 15:01

Probably the end of the window for this quarters deliveries

specter491 2026-02-20 15:01

What's the alternative?

specter491 2026-02-20 15:02

The price made it DOA. The $60k price point is much more palatable

Mediumcomputer 2026-02-20 15:03

Ding ding ding

ChapterDifficult593 2026-02-20 15:04

Maybe so. I think the initial pricing was too high to push that many units to begin with and then late 2024-25 added in an entirely "unprojectionable" (not a word) sociopolitical dynamic specifically around the Cybertruck itself.

According_Cherry_837 2026-02-20 15:05

Obviously the market cap of Tesla is rooted in absolutely horseshit dreamscape world. Now that other EV companies are matching and outperforming Tesla it makes literally no sense to continue. The risk is their stock retraces back to normal valuations. “Robots and stuff” only way to prop up these nonsensical numbers for next decade.

JohnTeaGuy 2026-02-20 15:05

Stop being logical, this is Reddit, thats not allowed here.

throwmeneck 2026-02-20 15:09

0 chance cybertruck ever outsells Model Y

peppaz 2026-02-20 15:10

Funny because the pricing was more than double, almost triple the launch announcement pricing

[deleted] 2026-02-20 15:10

"Robuts"

Otto_the_Autopilot 2026-02-20 15:11

Yea those 4000 sales are really padding the numbers ../s

Invest-in-Value 2026-02-20 15:12

It’s almost like Tesla is only a car company and that market is highly competitive and low margin. At some point investors have to come to terms with that reality.

jnads 2026-02-20 15:15

They probably looked at how many orders flowed in over the first 12 hours and then projected whatever needed to meet quarterly production goals. It's likely margins are lower for this special variant since they didn't cut any of the expensive parts.

evolooshun 2026-02-20 15:15

They want to gauge interest. In the current economic climate. Then shortly after cancel the whole project.

Yarafsm 2026-02-20 15:16

After that it will be cheaper as those buyers put it on resale

jaqueh 2026-02-20 15:17

Where this company is going is so sad and pathetic. I love my cars but these will be it

retupmocomputer 2026-02-20 15:20

This trend of Tesla doing “only available until x days” for multiple things recently is so fucking stupid and annoying

Tratix 2026-02-20 15:25

Yeah this is like the most basic marketing 101. Been around for hundreds of years. “Act fast, supplies won’t last!”

rsg1234 2026-02-20 15:25

Yeah, in its current form that is absolutely not happening.

ChickerWings 2026-02-20 15:28

It will become Cybertruck as a service (CTaaS) for only $5k a month some poor soul from Austin will come with it and drive you around "autonomously" while you trade shitcoins in the backseat...

Former_Dark_4793 2026-02-20 15:28

get that UGLY thing out of my face, cant believe people buying that UGLY piece of shit....M3 is way better lol

KleinUnbottler 2026-02-20 15:29

Not just pricing, the range was much lower. The original was a value proposition. They said $70K for 500 miles of range. The first shipped were \~100K with just 320 miles, and they've never come close to that 500 range. Even the canceled $16K range extender battery was only going to bring it up to 450 miles, while compromising bed space/utility at the same time. Even accounting for inflation, they came way behind their announced targets. Speculation is that is that the original imagined vehicle was going to be a light exoskeleton, but they couldn't get it to work, so they went with a heavy body-on-frame design. Also they may have expected battery tech to improve faster/get cheaper more quickly than it did. Maybe it was pure hopium.

cpreid 2026-02-20 15:29

Before ?

Puzzleheaded-Bee-747 2026-02-20 15:30

I always thought the CT was a cool way to recycle old BBQ's.

MrGruntsworthy 2026-02-20 15:32

I, to this day, still have my reservation open from the night of the original reveal. I've been waiting for this. But I'm in Canada. If this doesn't come to Canada I'm going to be **pissed.**

b_m_hart 2026-02-20 15:33

Non native english speaker.  Odd to see someone pumping this up from a market that basically has exactly zero interest in this product.

JeliLiam 2026-02-20 15:34

You're being downvoted but I see no other logical explanation lol, its a different trim so it's not like they're tryna clear old stock. They're tryna catch the "Tesla Bro's" who haven't been able to afford a Cybertruck before with FOMO by putting it juust in their price range but only for 10 days so they have to commit to buying one now. Its giving "timed event" in games.

SirCaptainReynolds 2026-02-20 15:35

Yeah and what happens when some of those sell and need specific parts for that trim that’s discontinued? Wtf? I was hoping to get a CT after my current lease was up but at this rate I doubt they’ll still be making them 2 years from now.

Texmex865 2026-02-20 15:41

Are you posting this in every Tesla related sub??? I see two posts from you in two different subs back to back on my feed.

ProfessorFrink1 2026-02-20 15:49

Likewise. Love my Palladium Model S but even with the improvements over the legacy cars, it’s tough to see just how rough around the edges these cars are. Still horrible chassis dynamics, garbage build quality, etc. One day there will be a case study on the first mover advantage that Tesla absolutely squandered over the course of a decade. From on top of the world to a punchline in 5 years. Wild.

Roadtosucksex 2026-02-20 15:49

Collecting funds for the island invitation

Yiggah 2026-02-20 15:49

After ten days, it’ll be 49k.

tkc324 2026-02-20 15:54

Buy it in the next 10 days and as soon as you drive it out the lot, it will be worth 50% less...

cjohn4043 2026-02-20 15:58

It’s time for Elon to go. The direction Tesla is going is absolutely ridiculous.

Bruvvimir 2026-02-20 15:58

Before ten days?

billionaireboysclubs 2026-02-20 15:59

Sick of all these games like we’re being gamed like sheep

br0kepanda 2026-02-20 15:59

Used CT will soon be in the used market in the mid $40k. Can't wait to pick up a used one.

jaqueh 2026-02-20 16:01

I think the cars are made just fine but I didn’t spend model s levels of money on mine. They just need to oust the Cheeto wannabe

cu4tro 2026-02-20 16:15

What a clown show.

markboots 2026-02-20 16:19

They are worth like 10k anyways

Ancient_Work4758 2026-02-20 16:21

They're not going to sell many anyway 🤷

hybrid889 2026-02-20 16:22

I wonder if they discontinue it, like the x, s?

QuantumProtector 2026-02-20 16:22

strafinjr 2026-02-20 16:23

Even used prices wont dip below $60k-70k, if these things “sit” when will market go down 😔

oliran 2026-02-20 16:27

10 days is until end of Q1

SillyMilk7 2026-02-20 16:28

Yep, encouraging people to get off the fence is typical: • Sale ends soon • Limited time offer • Don’t miss out • While supplies last • Only a few left in stock • Act now • Last chance • Today only • Exclusive offer • Special promotion • Flash sale • Limited quantities available • Going fast • Hurry — selling out quickly • Offer expires tonight • Biggest sale of the year • Limited-time financing offer • • Weekend sales event • • Price valid through [date] • Final markdown • Last chance on remaining inventory

Rare_Polnareff 2026-02-20 16:28

Lmfao elon is so fucking stupid

Radium 2026-02-20 16:30

Haha my thoughts exactly. It's not the best deal with all the cuts they made.

ProfessorFrink1 2026-02-20 16:31

I bought mine used a year ago when values dropped on everything. For $38,000 a used Palladium Model S is one of the best bargains in EVs. Not sure who’s compelled to buy these new though. 10 years ago I did but now, there’s just no way. It’s not a compelling product at the pricepoint.

louisreditt 2026-02-20 16:34

When you’re used to making your wealth grifting people, you just can’t stop

electricshadow 2026-02-20 16:37

It's the same tactics a slimy dealership uses and makes the Tesla brand look worse than it already does to the public.

Fire sale before they discontinue.

They cut the air suspension, that's a huge comfort and off-road feature.

Salty_Raspberry656 2026-02-20 16:51

Its exhausting I've really enjoyed the teslas I've driven. Despite some issues with the interior sound, generally have had great, seamless experiences and had the new Y high on my list. But 1st the removal of the stalks, and finally recently removal of the standard autopilot has just kept me open to looking elsewhere on the market. Its a shame how so many products do exactly as steve jobs predicted, be it apple ,tesla, or google, they achieve a strong market share then just work for the shareholders to maximize that value and over time marketing takes over rather than true innovation. its pain and i think its unfortunate bc I think their car/tech is seamless and the most convenient still on the market but little by little they take away things and just make it less valuable

LakeSun 2026-02-20 16:51

An indicator of an un-calm mind.

tayl428 2026-02-20 16:51

After 10 days, it's buy one at $120k, GET ONE FREE!

Adventurous_Can2160 2026-02-20 16:53

You’d have to pay me to drive that piece of sh*t truck!

jnads 2026-02-20 16:55

Yeah, air suspension is the only "expensive" part they cut but it's probably partially mitigated by the manual labor to install the springs and dampers. They probably don't have robots doing custom runs. It still has dual motor. It still has a fairly large battery. It still has 4 wheel steering. edit: Yes, air suspension is a big off-road feature but some people like springs for saving on maintenance costs.

TwoPlyDreams 2026-02-20 16:57

$49k

AmpEater 2026-02-20 16:58

Used to love Tesla for the no sales, no dealership model. We got something even worse

loganbootjak 2026-02-20 17:01

It lines up with Trump's 10 days before he attacks Iran.

kubyx 2026-02-20 17:01

Elon is too proud to admit they made bad design choices with the CT. But ultimately, sales (or lack thereof) will determine the fate of this trim and its price. Something tells me this is all about artificial hype/FOMO and the 59k (or less) price will be seen again.

Aromatic-Pudding-299 2026-02-20 17:02

Rivian R2 will be here soon for $45k with 300 mile range and 3.1 sec 0-60. Tesla will need to drop price more to compete.

pingmachine 2026-02-20 17:06

We know it's really going to 69K

Hugh_G_Rectshun 2026-02-20 17:15

This sort of crap is why I won’t buy another Tesla again.

nevetsyad 2026-02-20 17:16

Why are you in this group?

StaysAwakeAllWeek 2026-02-20 17:16

That's when they run out of stockpiled RAM for the FSD computer

spaceman_spiffy 2026-02-20 17:17

Did they say why? This is the first I heard of this.

oasiscat 2026-02-20 17:20

I hope your comment gets quoted by some article on the public response to the CEO of Tesla deciding to nuke the marketing for Cybertruck pricing by arbitrarily announcing the pricing will change in 10 days.

jnads 2026-02-20 17:22

The air suspension is a lot of parts, and the only change they made with low engineering cost that saved real money. You have the high current wiring to the air compressor. The compressor itself. The air lines to all 4 tires. Then the cost of the air bag system for all 4 tires. Also the compressor plugins for the air line in the truck bed. They probably did save $1000 ($2000 MSRP cost). Other cost savings like redesigning the rear axle to eliminate the steering motors would take significant engineering cost. All the other cost savings (other than removing the rear entertainment screen which is probably ~$100) were likely done to not cannibalize higher model sales by making the lower model too good. There will be a certain percentage of people that will see this, convince themselves to buy a CT, and then talk themselves into the higher model.

Superb-Leading-1195 2026-02-20 17:23

Talk to me when you have 0.99% Apr

Full_Tap_4144 2026-02-20 17:23

Clickbaiting all of us. Or in the business world, marketing and advertising to see what consumers do with the limited time sale offer.

oasiscat 2026-02-20 17:23

I'll buy it once it comes down to $20k, which is the price point at which I can justify treating it as a rugged work vehicle and not a shiny toy whose paint-less exterior gets scratched by passing dust.

misader 2026-02-20 17:25

IMAGINE paying 100k for that thing 2 years ago, you probably still owe more than $59k for it now...

LivingHighAndWise 2026-02-20 17:28

Bring it down to $39K and I may consider it. The fact that it can act like a back up generator for home is a big bonus, even if you too embarrassed to drive it.

Dino_Spaceman 2026-02-20 17:32

The month ends and they have to show Feb financials. So need a bump.

[deleted] 2026-02-20 17:35

poprivian 2026-02-20 17:35

So it’s the 80k truck on sale….

Sampsa96 2026-02-20 17:37

Wow 10 dollar discount?

CO2Capture 2026-02-20 17:41

69,420.69 probably

coleto22 2026-02-20 17:46

After 10 days they will change the price to 49 990.

jasoncross00 2026-02-20 17:46

Yup. When my old Model Y got wrecked we got a new Juniper one only because in our price range, every other electric crossover right now is basically a model Y knockoff that isn't quite as good (and I could do the FSD transfer). If the Rivian R2 had been out, we would have jumped on that instead.

SonuOfBostonia 2026-02-20 17:49

They'll rerelease model s and x

dead_ed 2026-02-20 17:51

They went from *aspirational* to aspirin rationing.

gittenlucky 2026-02-20 17:52

What a weird comment… you think he is going to stop selling to the general public so he can use his money in a different company to buy trucks he doesn’t need to pump the numbers?

[removed]

ChickerWings 2026-02-20 17:55

HaasNL 2026-02-20 17:58

Is it?

bc10551 2026-02-20 17:58

People act like Tesla's model is so much better as if Tesla doesn't raise or decrease prices on a whim too lol. Just it's even more blatant so each price drop will impact the used market even harder. It's like built in markups and later discounting to a "normal" price

Zabolater 2026-02-20 18:00

Relax bud. It’s a joke based on historical premise of spaceX buying cybertrucks and Elon needing to deliver so many vehicles to earn his payout. Nowhere did I say he would stop selling to the public.

CatHistorical184 2026-02-20 18:01

He needs to clear out the parts for the discontinued cybertruck trim

rampstop 2026-02-20 18:08

You couldn’t pay me $59K to get in one of those dumpsters

jnads 2026-02-20 18:14

Probably not as much as you think. It was probably already sitting on an engineering shelf somewhere when they did a cost benefit analysis and went with the air suspension. There's already wiring going to all 4 wheels for the pneumatic relays. They can reuse that for the hydraulic active dampers. Some bored controls system engineer probably got something fun to work on.

Full_Tap_4144 2026-02-20 18:14

I hope the $45K R2 will be sub 6 seconds and have 300 mile range. Hope Rivian has the manufacturing capacity to release a $45K model before 2028. Will be interesting to see if the R2 itself can make Rivian profitable or if they'll still be in the red until a 4th model is offered.

Party_Government8579 2026-02-20 18:22

Bad design and it was released around the time Elcon started making some interesting PR moves that may have put off buyers

jewbagulatron5000 2026-02-20 18:23

He sounds like a used car salesman, using pressure tactics.

heatcheckhottakes 2026-02-20 18:23

Just called my local Tesla and they said they won’t get any of this particular model in until June and that they aren’t aware of it only being available for 10 days

IndigoBroker 2026-02-20 18:28

But they have stopped selling the model S and X to the public. If they they’d make the cyber truck look more like a Rivian, they would sell an insane amount.

Aromatic-Pudding-299 2026-02-20 18:33

Competition is good for the consumer. We need as much of it as possible so we can see sub $40 suvs and trucks in the EV space

iamnotlarryking 2026-02-20 18:37

It’d be Doge coin actually.

BaxBaxPop 2026-02-20 18:38

Probably a temporarily limited supply of 4680.

mensrea 2026-02-20 18:39

And when they do it you should not jump. Tesla can’t be trusted on these incentives.

furrrburger 2026-02-20 18:43

And then if they bailed on the second motor and dropped battery to 250 miles, that's gotta be another 5k they could drop off the price. It would be cool to see them get more aggressive with trims.

CrashKingElon 2026-02-20 18:45

I'll be curious yo read reviews on changes to ride quality. Its a heavy vehicle, and to my knowledge tge air suspension was more than simply increasing / decreasing height.

iamnotlarryking 2026-02-20 18:45

That’s 6 percent of total sales. So a decent amount of padding. Specially for a new product. If more are “going” to be sold to other companies he owns, that’s just going to raise that percentage.

Ill_Guarantee_1432 2026-02-20 18:50

If you can’t laugh at that, I’m not sure you should be here.

datShipdoe 2026-02-20 18:52

They’ll change the price to 62k or something but then offer .9% financing

SchalaZeal01 2026-02-20 18:54

It's a price thing, not a look thing.

ddr1ver 2026-02-20 18:56

I’m assuming that Tesla will have a difficult time finding a million people who need a robot and that the robots will suffer the same data as the Cybertruck.

Ixliam 2026-02-20 18:57

Next version will be the CyberT. Skip the whole stainless shell and let the wind flow thru your hair for $29995! Solid suspension so you feel the road.

SchalaZeal01 2026-02-20 19:01

You don't have to wait 3 hours talking to someone pleading with you. It's the sticker price, take it or leave it.

Foreign_GrapeStorage 2026-02-20 19:01

With Tesla, you are the R&D.

Scoutron 2026-02-20 19:06

What is the palladium? And aren’t you worried now that they’ve halted production you may lose support or access to new features compared to the highlands?

bc10551 2026-02-20 19:13

I mean yeah that part should always have been a thing just the way Tesla plays around with their prices just to make people feel fomo by increasing the price then dropping the price not long after when they tell people it's only going to go up and now's your last chance is not really any less scummy lol

fearrange 2026-02-20 19:17

It looks like the company desperately needs cash this quarter. From saying discontinue of S/X, moving FSD to subscription only before a deadline, offering 0.99% APR, and to this 10 days of $59k Cybertruck, all FOMO tactic to lure people to spend.

ProfessorFrink1 2026-02-20 19:17

Palladiums are the facelifted Model S (2021+). I'm not worried mostly because US law requires 10 years of parts support after a model is discontinued and because there's an entire cottage industry of independent shops supporting these. I had an i8 and a few Fisker Karmas. I aint skurrrred. ;-)

jnads 2026-02-20 19:19

Since they replaced it with an active hydraulic suspension and are forcing 18" balloon tires ride quality probably doesn't suffer as much as you might think. You obviously lose the height adjustment. But the biggest advantage of air suspension is towing. You can transfer weight to the front wheels to keep everything balanced. Hence why the towing weight was reduced.

robinhoodisalie 2026-02-20 19:20

They can’t make delivery by the end of the quarter.

wales-bloke 2026-02-20 19:20

He couldn't pay me to drive that pile of shit. Actually, that's not quite true; the battery is useful. I'd pay a couple of grand for that.

OrangeKaii 2026-02-20 19:26

Agreed. I genuinely really appreciate Tesla as a whole and the amazing work the engineers do building these cars and Elon is just such a cornball. I genuinely hope he steps down one day.

Nopengnogain 2026-02-20 19:26

This deal is definitely for those who are likely to fall for those “limited time offer” infomercials.

Macklin345 2026-02-20 19:33

Y'all live for black Friday, cyber Monday, president day sales etc and as soon as Elon has a sale y'all get to bitching 😂 This shiiii can't be made up. "This reeks of desperation" Or buy the CT on sale or move the f along.

Full_Tap_4144 2026-02-20 19:37

I agree. Hope we can see cars give the Model Y a run for its money to drive innovation in the EV space and bring down costs. Hope Rivian can get to the $45K point with the R2. All the online speculation about the launch R2 is saying $60 - 65K. That makes sense. The Rivian launch price made me wonder if Telsa dropped the Cybertruck price to $60K to see what Rivian does and monitor Cybertruck vs Rivian R2 sales. But the 10 day statement has me shaking my head.

CumShoT_RaviOLi_King 2026-02-20 19:44

I honestly was about to pull the trigger and trade in my wife's Model X 2024 model for it as they gave me a good trade in. I just talked to her about it and she said sure, you can take the cyber and I will take your new Model Y. Problem is, I was going to do this literally in 2 weeks as we just finished doing a major renovation and I needed a little bit of time. I hate the way they handle this to be honest.

atxer 2026-02-20 19:56

I'd buy one if it wasn't so fugly. I'm in the market for a new car and want to replace my MS but hardly any options out there.

Philmcrackin123 2026-02-20 20:00

Anyone surprised Tesla slashing the prices on another vehicle? I sure ain’t. This thing might very well be one of the biggest flop vehicles ever if not already.

Scoutron 2026-02-20 20:07

Oh yeah you’re a veteran there lol. Have you driven a Highland? I’m curious how it would compare to the Palladium. I could trade up to one if the interest rate wasn’t bad.

StandardOk42 2026-02-20 20:13

I thought they were all supposed to start at $40K?

aceknight21 2026-02-20 20:15

Like if that’ll motivate people to jump on a dumpster fire of a “truck”

StarSilent4246 2026-02-20 20:19

My buddy has had 2 cybertrucks that were purchased back because they were lemons. I’ll still stay away.

G0_WEB_G0 2026-02-20 20:20

Right on brother

harda_toenail 2026-02-20 20:21

Fisker karma ouch. They were so beautiful when they came out. F that ceo though. Hope he loses everything

Sibir_Lupus 2026-02-20 20:23

Nice, so now only $20K off from the original $40K announced price back in 2019. The blatant false advertisements and promises from Tesla would have bankrupted any other car company by now.

Maomao_Niannian 2026-02-20 20:36

![gif](giphy|nT7MlvIJRJ68ETf2GU|downsized)

NewMY2020 2026-02-20 20:36

How does a company not know its own plans, let alone the CEO of said company....Shadow dropped then put on a time limit, at the end of the quarter they will complain about weak sales. What is Tesla even doing anymore?

NewMY2020 2026-02-20 20:37

Wouldn't be surprised.

NewMY2020 2026-02-20 20:37

I didn't expect to laugh this hard at a comment. Thank you 🤣

zongaboy 2026-02-20 20:38

sure. Everyone should believe what this guy says. If I had a dime for every "no more transfer of FSD, or "no more free SC" or "you car will appreciate") I'll have a Lucid Gravity by now.

zongaboy 2026-02-20 20:40

actually what cuts ? I was surprised to see almost no cuts, but maybe I missed some. less towing 2 outlets less in the cabin no more screen in the back coil suspension but Same range, acceleration, drive by wire, 4 wheels steering, which are the costly changes.

zongaboy 2026-02-20 20:43

I have air suspension on my X. that things is the single piece (well many pieces but all related) that needed to be replaced in 8 years. And multiple times. Effing sway bars, half shaft, air spring modules. I like the idea of air suspension, but it has proven to be costly

Radium 2026-02-20 20:43

Also seats - front no ventilated seats and in the rear were downgraded without heat and both front and rear to cloth (although personally I like cloth better). 10" ground clearance fixed due to coil suspension. Rear compartment in the bed is gone.

br0kepanda 2026-02-20 20:53

The CT ain't for everyone. One it barely fit any standard size garage Two, even if they list it for $49k...your average buyer would still not buy it even though that is one hell of a selling price point.

d4cloo 2026-02-20 21:05

A failed car, glued together? No way.

ByGoalZ 2026-02-20 21:05

Well those are cuts, no? Suspension and seats, textile interior, audio, is def costly

pachewychomp 2026-02-20 21:12

Nice. Let’s see what the price is in May, just in time to hopefully drive more Q2 sales. $49,990??

ProfessorFrink1 2026-02-20 21:19

Yeah Henrik has kind of outed himself as a garbage human. The Ocean was boring anyhow. The Karma was a swing and a miss as far as functionality but it was really well built and a work of art.

alphatangolima 2026-02-20 21:20

That's how they have always operated and it's worked well. They'll run special financing promos until a certain date and they will actually stay true and change it. It doesn't mean it won't come back but if you were seriously considering buying a cybertruck and price was the hold up, this is a good time to do it. $60k is the standard price for a full size pick up now and the cybertruck has some features that are awesome.

ProfessorFrink1 2026-02-20 21:22

The Highland is a really good car. For me, a used S is such an amazing value proposition in the world of Tesla that it was an easy choice between new highland and used Model S. The extra range, more comfortable interior, larger screen, instrument cluster, Steam support, hatchback, etc. Plus the standard long range Model S does the same 3.1 0-60 as my old P85D did. But you can’t go wrong with a Highland if you want a new car. They are really nice.

solarflare_hot 2026-02-20 21:26

Give it 20 days and they will be 39k

No-Break-5748 2026-02-20 21:29

No thank you

SkittleHodl 2026-02-20 21:38

Fool me once… (not that I’d ever buy a CT)

anshammer 2026-02-20 21:43

It’s gonna eventually turn into a blind box. Pay 59k and get any of the models. 1 in 69 gets a plaid and 1 in 420 gets a roadster someday 😅

LakeSun 2026-02-20 21:47

Well, as for cannibalizing sales, I'm sure many many people can afford $60,000, and are totally locked out of a sale at $80,000+ The Model X was once on my list, and then Musk priced them into the Don't-Buy-Me category. Same with BMW with their electrics. But, also interest rates have cut higher priced sales.

Sebas_6647 2026-02-20 21:48

Anyone buying these still amazes me. If someone wants to let me know what makes someone so eager buying a 7,000 drive able dumpster with an exterior that stains after light rain amazes me.

Infam0usP 2026-02-20 21:51

you can literally buy THREE Slate trucks for 59/60k 🤣🤣🤣

zyon86 2026-02-20 22:02

So in 10 days it will be even cheaper ?!?!

Rav4Primer 2026-02-20 22:03

It's still dead at $10k off. It's a meme at this point.

Muted-Ordinary-5 2026-02-20 22:03

Sounds tempting.... Do you need to prove you have a micropenis in order to get the deal?

timdot352 2026-02-20 22:08

$60k Cybertruck*

MECO_2019 2026-02-20 22:09

My guess is that the new dry process 4680 cell helps cut the cost. That pushes deliveries out to June, since that cell is still ramping up

Radium 2026-02-20 22:18

Yeah, I knew we'd see Cybertruck price drops immediately after that finally was starting the ramp. Curious what this one lands one after 10 days or if it'll just go back to $79k and non existent? $69K?

Nosnibor1020 2026-02-20 22:30

I don’t feel like I’m missing out. I watched a Cybertruck do a 3 point u-turn across a 3 lane highway today.

simfreak101 2026-02-20 22:58

i wonder if they are just unsold cyber trucks that they just use software to disable the features. Kinda like brocade. here is a 24 port switch, but only 8 ports work until you buy an expansion license.

GreatSince86 2026-02-20 23:05

They need immediate cash for something and are pulling everything to get it in.

mechanicalAI 2026-02-20 23:52

“Limited”… to the number they can sell.

normtanner 2026-02-21 00:02

You can keep it level, but you can't transfer weight to the front without a WDH.

Mysterious_Wash_205 2026-02-21 00:23

What about the billions worth of cyber trucks they have sitting at parking lots? I wonder if they just did a software to lower the range.

Commercial_Ease8053 2026-02-21 00:27

lol no one wants these

EndEmbarrassed9031 2026-02-21 00:46

MikeHammer12 2026-02-21 02:30

MikeHammer12 2026-02-21 02:33

Looks like you slept through Joe Bidens times. Give you a short summary: Overall inflation was approximately 21.2% during the four years Biden was in office. And that's just a low estimate.

Beastgupta 2026-02-21 02:54

What makes u say that?

ProfessionalHot9064 2026-02-21 03:01

After ten days, it will be $45k?

Jmaster_888 2026-02-21 03:03

Samtheman001 2026-02-21 03:34

Oh no! Oh well

dopestar667 2026-02-21 03:40

They refitted them with front motors and removed the rear screens, added power tonneau cover, added bed AC outlets, swapped out the charging system and suspension, to sell it for $10k less? No.

QuantumProtector 2026-02-21 03:44

Maybe, maybe not. I'm actually not sure. But I just don't like his business decisions and what's surprising is that the stock just keeps rising no matter what.

the-faded-ferret 2026-02-21 03:55

People would just cancel their $250 deposit and re-order. If anything it’ll increase

NoFaithlessness9789 2026-02-21 04:45

Wait can you still transfer FSD to it? Wife got a Juniper 8 months ago (and transferred FSD) but really regrets not getting a CT and now she’s eyeing this.

pinchy74 2026-02-21 21:50

It'll go up $10k for a week, and then back down to the same price again. Tesla is still the same dancing dog with the same chewed up bone when it comes to sales.

Noahs132 2026-02-21 22:31

gregchristakis 2026-02-22 06:09

They should have just lowered the $79,000 version to $59,000 instead of wasting more money to retrofit it and degrade the Tesla name by adding a cheaper version. I thought Tesla was all about efficient technological improvements, not cheapening the brand, what's next? no power windows??

OutlandishnessNo5636 2026-02-22 10:49

Team-Rocketto-Dan 2026-02-22 11:09

3 slate trucks that will drive you 40 miles in below freezing temps (120 total) vs 200 on a single CT. Does Slate even have thermal management on their batteries when parked, if not they will degrade as fast as gen 1 Chevy Bolts.

Infam0usP 2026-02-22 12:00

they're not even available to the public yet so you're just babbling a bunch of bullshit. that factual light hearted joke really got you mad 😂

Infam0usP 2026-02-22 12:04

this price slash is happening because the sales for these Cybertrucks are in the shitter. their total sales in 2025 was a decrease over 40% compared to the 2024 sales. dumbasses were paying 100+ grand for these things and they're worth NOTHING close to that now. Elon is a snake oil salesman with good WiFi

gal_wije 2026-02-22 15:11

That is how he sold FSD for 20k back in the day. This guy is full of it. Cyber truck will be 50K next year by this time

Global-Tie-3458 2026-02-22 16:11

Was this the same day Turd said he was giving Iran 10 days?

ruibranco 2026-02-22 17:14

The suspension downgrade is more significant than the spec sheet suggests. Air suspension auto-levels under tongue weight so the truck stays flat when towing, which affects both stability and range. With coil you get more squat under load. The rated towing cut is partly a downstream consequence of that, not just a spec they arbitrarily reduced. If you mostly use it as a daily and light-duty vehicle the coil is probably fine, but for actual towing the gap is real.

icy1007 2026-02-22 21:17

The actual trim will still be available. They aren’t removing it after 10 days.

icy1007 2026-02-22 21:17

Price might increase by ~$5k.

icy1007 2026-02-22 21:17

Almost no cuts? What? There were lots of cuts.

Pfytzdzheryld 2026-02-25 06:18

Well then you can't really "buy three slate trucks" for that price, if they aren't even for sale. But Slate looks awesome. I hope the company does well.

Infam0usP 2026-02-25 07:16

you can preorder these now and pay in full if you'd like lmao. the hell are you talking about?

Pfytzdzheryld 2026-02-25 07:56

*pre-*order. Lots of things take *pre-*orders. Then end up being different, changing the price, can't keep up with production, or become vaporware. Until the pre-orders are just orders, and the people who pre-ordered are on the road, it's just speculation as far as I'm concerned. But yes, you can pre-order 3 of the current speculated price of the slate truck. Same with the Aptera which is another big one on my radar. But I don't trust the prices they are at until regular buyers receive them after making a regular order at that price.

Brainoad78 2026-02-25 17:53

That old tactic doesn't apply anymore if you're smart and purchase online. Bought my used Model S from a brick and mortar dealership several states away. And this was back in 2019. Cars Dot com does a great job of filtering down to quality results, such as 1-owner, clean title, and low miles. Still have the car today and have put over 90K miles on it. They had a great listed price online. No haggles, no BS. Just a quick 20 minute phone call expressing my interest and the rest of the process was completed via text and FedEx overnight of required purchase/sale papers. Had the car shipped under my own vendor of choice and they helped work with the shipper to make sure it's all done smoothly.
