$60k isn’t bad at all, other EVs that beat it in range cost significantly more.

They've improved it a lot over the lame RWD version which had no tonneau cover. Now you get the second motor and a tonneau for $10K less so I think it's actually compelling. Too bad they didn't get this out when there was still a $7500 tax credit, at $52500 this would have moved serious volume.

TheJiggie
2026-02-20 05:38
Doubtful. Truck owner demographic is arguably the most Anti-EV demographic, and on top of that are also one of the most brand loyal demographics - so if GM and Ford are struggling to sell EV trucks, Tesla would be in an even more difficult place. The CyberTruck was always going to have an uphill battle, and Elon hasn’t done it any favors.
TheJiggie
2026-02-20 05:40
It won’t. I would be surprised if they don’t pull the plug on the CT within the next 3 years or so.
TheJiggie
2026-02-20 05:43
Still going to have an incredibly uphill battle. Truck owners are arguably the most anti-ev demographic, on top of being one of the most brand loyal ones.
If the Ford and GM weren’t going to be successful, the CT was going to have that much more of a challenge, and Elon hasn’t been doing the brand any favors by alienating a significant portion of the potential base that would have considered stepping into the Pickup segment. I get the impression the CyberTruck will go the way of the S and X within the next 3-5 years. Outside of North America and Australia, there is barely a market for a Full Size truck and it’s struggled immensely here as is.

Yeah cause Ford doesn't want to make it. There was a factory fire or something and Ford just decided to not resume it. I think it was doing fairly well until then, all things considered.
Silverado seems like a great option on paper but it just doesn't sell.
If I needed a truck for the utility, I'd prefer something like a Silverado with Tesla tech and efficiency.

The suspension is amazing on the Rivian but it's also something that scares me when it is out of warranty. It's not just the airbags, but the hydraulic antisway bar is a very expensive service item from what I have read. Definitely not keeping mine outside of warranty.

It’s so true. My truck gets used all the time. Albeit, a small trailer, but I’m hauling a lawn mower most of the time. Have also hauled stuff to help people move. Filled up the bed multiple times with furniture and lumber.

Well the F-150 is the most sold vehicle in the US year after year, so it’s already being bought by tons of people who aren’t using it for the explicit truck capabilities.
Plenty of people buy a big F150 or even an F250 just to say they got a big truck and they haaul, when in reality their truck is a pavement princess.

60k is pretty good for what you get. Like it or not EVs are more expensive. Trucks haven't been "cheap work vehicles" for a decade or more. Combining those two isn't going to magically make things cheaper.

For me, the only reason I would get a pickup truck would be to pull a camping trailer, and without a lot of pull through stops, such high cost energy cost, with a low towing range the cons outweigh the pros to consider it. I love my model Y, love the look of the Cybertruck but can’t justify until a used model is about half the price.

Early adopter here—over 2 years in, and this is still the best Tesla I’ve owned. Super comfortable, very easy to drive, and with FSD on, nothing else comes close. Never owned a gas truck, so I can’t compare there.
Yeah, once in a while it gets hate for the looks and the Elon association, but objectively..hard to find anything to complain about. Range easily covers my daily use, and with V4 Superchargers expanding, it feels pretty future-proof. Very study & easy to maintain.
Sharing this mostly for anyone who’s on the fence.
