Tesla leads JD Power's 2026 EV satisfaction study

rvs007 | 2026-02-19 17:13 | 182 views

Tesla emerges as a clear beneficiary of rising EV owner satisfaction in the 2026 J.D. Power U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience (EVX) Ownership Study, which measures satisfaction during the first year of ownership. Findings: * The Tesla Model 3 ranks highest overall among all electric vehicles in the study, making it the top‑rated EV for owner satisfaction in 2026. * Tesla vehicles also rank at the top of the premium EV segment, reinforcing the brand’s strong standing among higher‑priced electric vehicles.

But but but Tesla bad.

When it's a negative article about Tesla, people at /r/electricvehicles find the worst snippet and use that as a headline for the submission. When it's a positive article, they do everything they can to bury the lede lol https://www.reddit.com/r/electricvehicles/comments/1r85tgj/ev_owner_satisfaction_climbs_to_new_high_amid/

Sales aren't actually tanking

I genuinely don’t care about the business as a whole. It’s the people gaslighting me about how terrible my car that I happily use and drive every day is. Best car I’ve ever owned. Not an endorsement of the CEO or company, just the product itself.

Wut? Sales are down a bit in ‘25 but hardly tanking.

Not Tesla bad … Musk bad. How that reflects on Tesla depends on your personal interpretation.

They’ve got a lot of stuff figured out in the EV game that we take for granted. I rented an ioniq 5 for a week and was so frustrated with many things that really could have made it a much better experience. Not going to list them, just generalizing. I had such a meh experience that I was no longer considering a different brand EV as my next car—two months later I purchased a used model y and have had a great time with it.

Wondering how much elon paid to purchase this

Also Consumer Reports top EV.

I don’t get any impression he gives a shit about awards.

People have been barking about how bad Teslas supposedly are for well over a decade. Elon getting into politics(well, a specific part of it) simply made that hate significantly more prominent, especially in online communities.

Check their Europe numbers

farrrtttttrrrrrrrrtr 2026-02-20 12:16

I’m very happy with my 2023 MYP. . . I won’t be buying another Tesla until they bring back autopilot!!! IDGAF what they call it but I use it way too often and it is exactly what I need for my drives (80% highways) so the castrated version w/o lane-keeping is not enough and “F”SD is more annoying to use on highways since it changes lanes like shit and I can’t actually set a max speed; so I’m not paying $99/month for that. Hell I might actually switch to a Cybertruck since they finally made good on their $60k version. . . IF They brought AP back, until then a Rivian R2 is top contender for next car

Ooh I really wanna share this on the lucid subreddit 😂😂😂

gorgeousphatseal 2026-02-21 04:06

Tesla ruined vehicles for me. Their process, the design, the software. The whole ecosystem. I just can't go back. Everything else feels like a massive step back and an awful mimicry

tenemu 2026-02-21 10:08

Funny to look at the comments. Most just talk about EV satisfaction. You know if Tesla was at the bottom the whole comment field would be about how shitty teslas are, not about EV satisfaction.

Same, my parents have brand a new Mercedes, and they could not get the phone key working so I tried. The whole system was just so bloody confusing, and it would not work, no matter what I tried. The infotainment system is just so complex and baffling compared to Teslas.

Jolly-Bell-240 2026-03-02 05:45

nice, my model 3 has been great so far. wish they'd hurry up with FSD though lol

Jolly-Bell-240 2026-03-10 12:58

Yeah, and I think CR factors in reliability more heavily than JD Power, so that's a good sign for build quality too.
